Lot # 448 (Sale Order: 307 of 604)

The Peace dollar design was introduced late in 1921, when the Philadelphia Mint produced a min...moretage of just over 1 million pieces. This delightful Premium Gem exhibits well-detailed design elements, with a touch of the usual softness on Liberty's curls, caused by the high relief of the design. Lot # 450 (Sale Order: 309 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** 1912-p Gold Indian Quarter Eagle $2 1/2 Graded ms65+ By SEGS. From a substantial mintage of 616,000 pieces, the 1912 still ranks among the ...morescarcer Indian Head quarter eagles at the MS65 grade level. Finer coins are virtually unobtainable. Each side of this Plus-graded Gem displays needle-sharp definition and eye-catching reddish-gold color. This well-preserved representative can be identified by the small coppery alloy spot on the nose. It is practically void of singular abrasions. Satiny mint luster adds to the outstanding overall eye appeal. This coin will be a welcome addition to a fine collection of Indian quarter eagles.

*HIGHLIGHT OF NIGHT* 1921-p Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded ms64+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 456 (Sale Order: 314 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** 1921-p Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded ms64+ By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT - Up for Auction is a Choice Uncirculated 1921-p Walkin...moreg Liberty Half. This premium near-Gem half dollar is lightly toned in iridescent champagne-gold and pale silver. Luster is full and frosty and the surfaces are uncommonly smooth for an example of this key date Walking Liberty half dollar. The 1921 has almost always been in high demand, but not until most had already entered circulation. Demand for new half dollars was low that year as the world economy adjusted sharply, reflecting the changes from war driven production to peacetime activities. The 1921 has a mintage of 246,000 pieces and perhaps just 750 remain at all levels of Mint State preservation. With Gems in MS-65 and higher grades particularly elusive in today's market the significance of this offering will be obvious to astute bidders. I have included 2 Other Coins as Comparisons

*HIGHLIGHT OF ENTIRE AUCTION* 1875-s/cc FS-501 Trade Dollar $1 Graded ms64 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 462 (Sale Order: 320 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** 1875-s/cc FS-501 Trade Dollar $1 Graded ms64 By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION. We are proud to bring you one of the finest known 1...more875-s/cc Trade Dollars, FS-501. A very important Trade dollar variety and tied for second FINEST known. This is a very popular variety and one of very few major varieties for the series; the partially effaced CC mintmark can be seen by the unaided eye under the S mintmark. A radial cartwheel luster swirls on both sides. A light champagne tone dusts both obverse and reverse, with accents of richer apricot-gold and a highlight of blue at 7:00 on the Obverse. The devices are crisply and fully struck on both sides. The Fields are highly reflective, which we tried to illustrate in the second set of photos. Ms. Liberty and the details are sharp and bold, as is the reverse eagle. Clearly condition census quality.

*HIGHLIGHT OF ENTIRE AUCTION** 1854 TYPE 2 Gold Dollar $1 Graded ms66 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 466 (Sale Order: 324 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** 1854 TYPE 2 Gold Dollar $1 Graded ms66 By SEGS. The small 12.7 mm diameter of the Type I gold dollar brought about a few complaints of it being e...moreasy to lose, like the silver trime. To address this, Longacre enlarged the diameter to 14.3 mm, but he also completely revised the design, replacing it with an Indian design with a crown of feathers resembling his design on the newly introduced three-dollar gold piece. He also moved the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA to the obverse from the reverse. The reverse laurel wreath was replaced with the cereal wreath Longacre employed on the three-dollar denomination and that was later adopted for the Flying Eagle cent. Even with these design changes, challenges faced Mint personnel when striking the coins. Because the weight of the denomination remained unchanged, the coins were made slightly thinner. The obverse Indian head bust of Liberty was in too high a relief for the thinner planchets, and most examples displayed poor definition in and around the centers. To further complicate matters, the dies often clashed early and frequently during press runs, and many survivors exhibit numerous pronounced clash marks. Bowers estimates 90% of all 1854 Type II dollars bear such clash marks on one or both sides. These striking deficiencies prompted the third and final redesign in 1856, enlarging the bust and flattening its relief profile. 0 The small 12.7 mm diameter of the Type I gold dollar brought about a few complaints of it being easy to lose, like the silver trime. HIGHLIGHT ON THE ENTIRE AUCTION - Up for Auction is far and away the Single Finest Type II gold Dollar of any date we have ever brought to auction. What an AMAZING, SUPERB, and totally ORIGINAL 1854 Type 2 gold dollar. Ranking among the VERY FINEST KNOWN, you are likely never going to find another anywhere close to this monster! The surfaces are clean overall and look satiny. There is some light die clashing visible. A headlight blinding luster shows off the killer orange/yellow gold colors. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck from deeply clashed dies and have light frost. One look and you WILL say WOW! And no matter how picky you are, you will love this high end MS66! If you are working on a SUPERB set, this coin is for you. If a 67 was to come up for sale today, it would bring at least $100,000! I am including another ms66 which sold in 2015 for $70,500 for your comparison and an ms65+ that sold in 2016 for $35,250. I also included a second picture of our coin with the light at another angle so you can see the terrific detail in the center devices. A truly remarkable example. I wish you all Good luck!
