Lot # 444 (Sale Order: 313 of 613)

***Auction Highlight*** (1694) Elephant Token 1/2 P LONDON, Thick Graded vf35 By SEGS.Varying shades of tan and brown are marbled within the patina of this example. Softl...morey impressed at the central reverse though the focal elephant motif remains bold on the obverse. Other scattered marks show under scrutiny but are well worn into the complexion. These pieces were likely struck at the Tower Mint in London and used as trade tokens in England. Examples with reverse inscriptions pertaining to London, as here, are the most plentiful, and they have been adopted by American collectors due to their association with the rarer Carolina and New England Elephant tokens.

***Auction Highlight*** 1894-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms63+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 445 (Sale Order: 314 of 613)

***Auction Highlight*** 1894-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms63+ By SEGS. A beautiful untoned silver-grey example with mint luster that is universally intense on both side...mores. Virtually full striking detail adds to the appeal of this lovely coin. At just 110,000 pieces produced, the 1894 has the lowest mintage among circulation strike Morgan dollars from the Philadelphia Mint. It is a key date issue in this widely collected series, and is the rarest Philadelphia Mint Morgan in Mint State after only the challenging 1901. When offered in Uncirculated condition, the 1894 is usually found in MS-60 to low end MS-64 grades and often has subdued luster and/or (numerous) detracting marks. Very few examples possess the strong technical quality and eye appeal of this premium Choice uncirculated example, one of the finest 1894 dollars that we have handled in recent memory. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1874-cc Trade Dollar $1 Graded ms64 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 446 (Sale Order: 315 of 613)

***Auction Highlight*** 1874-cc Trade Dollar $1 Graded ms64 By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT - This is a gorgeous Choice quality example of a conditionally challenging ...moreCarson City Mint issue. Adorned with mottled light russet iridescence, both sides are highly lustrous with an intense satin finish. The strike is razor sharp with most design elements fully rendered. Smooth and attractive, there is not much separating this beautiful coin from a Gem Mint State grade. The United States trade dollar made its debut in 1873 with circulation strike coinage continuing on a yearly basis through 1878. After delivering 124,500 pieces in 1873, the Carson City Mint stepped up trade dollar coinage in 1874 with a mintage of 1,373,200 coins. Most examples were shipped to China, as intended, where they circulated widely based on the multitude of chopmarked examples. Limited quantities of 1874-CC trade dollars remained stateside since the denomination enjoyed legal tender status within the United States until demonetized through the Act of July 22, 1876. Contemporary numismatic interest in this denomination was virtually nil, however, with few examples preserved in Mint State. In the finest grades, in fact, the 1874-CC is one of the rarest issues of its type. A superior quality survivor in terms of both surface preservation and eye appeal, this near-Gem is sure to sell for a strong bid. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1881-s Near TOP POP Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms68+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 449 (Sale Order: 318 of 613)

***Auction Highlight*** 1881-s Near TOP POP Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms68+ By SEGS. Within a half point of the finest known. Virtually pristine with outstanding visual a...moreppeal, this beautiful Morgan dollar is sharply struck and bathed in intense satin to semi-prooflike luster. Otherwise brilliant, both sides exhibit enhancing blushes of cobalt blue and reddish-apricot toning that are more extensive on the obverse. One of the quintessential type candidates in the Morgan silver dollar series of 1878 to 1921, the 1881-S is the most common of the early date issues in Mint State. Literally millions of the 12,760,000 coins struck remained in federal storage until released by the Treasury Department in 1938, during the 1950s and, especially, in the early to mid 1960s. Given their ready availability and the high standards of quality to which virtually all were produced, 1881-S dollars have been extremely popular with type collectors seeking a single Mint State coin to represent the Morgan dollar series. At the threshold of numismatic perfection, however, the example offered here is scarce from a condition standpoint. Indeed it is far better preserved than the vast majority of 1881-S dollars, the surfaces possessing equally superior eye appeal. For advanced numismatists who demand nothing less than the finest for their collections, the opportunity to acquire this exceptional Superb Gem should not be overlooked. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1923-p TOP POP! vam 1CK R6 Peace Dollar $1 Graded ms67+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 450 (Sale Order: 319 of 613)

***Auction Highlight*** 1923-p TOP POP! vam 1CK R6 Peace Dollar $1 Graded ms67+ By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE AUCTION - TOP POP TIED FOR FINEST KNOWN. This enchanting Supe...morerb Gem is drenched in smooth, frosty mint luster. Fully struck with brilliant bright-white surfaces, it is difficult to imagine a more inviting Peace dollar of the low relief design type. The 1923 is the most plentiful Peace dollar in Mint State, and the issue is readily obtainable in all grades up to and including MS-66. This type as a whole is conditionally rare in MS-67, however, and much more so than the preceding Morgan silver dollar series. The present example is among the finest certified, and it is sure to be of keen interest among both advanced Peace dollar collectors and high grade type collectors. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1886-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms64 By PCGS (fc)

Lot # 451 (Sale Order: 320 of 613)

***Auction Highlight*** 1886-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms64 By PCGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE AUCTION – This ms64 Look ms65. Trends on ms65 are $180,000! This is an outstandi...moreng, high end MS-64 to represent the conditionally challenging 1886-O silver dollar. Sharply struck with fulsome mint luster, both sides also possess a brilliant silver white appearance. Illustrative of one of the situations that make the Morgan dollar series so appealing to numismatists, this issue is far scarcer in Mint State than the 1883-O, 1884-O and 1885-O despite having a higher mintage (10,710,000 coins for the 1886-O as opposed to, for example, 9,185,000 pieces for the 1885-O). Given that the 1886-O is plentiful in worn condition, millions of examples likely found their way into circulation beginning in the late 19th century. Millions more, probably more than half of the mintage, were almost certainly kept in storage until melted under the terms of the 1918 Pittman Act. Today the conditionally challenging nature of this New Orleans Mint issue is well known, as is the prevalence of poorly struck coins among the relatively few Uncirculated survivors. Exceptionally well produced and preserved, the premium quality example offered here is sure to see spirited bidding.

Lot # 452 (Sale Order: 321 of 613)

***Auction Highlight*** 1922 $50 Large Size Gold Certificate Ulysses S. Grant FR-1200 Grades vf, very fine. The 1922 $50 gold certificate is a simple design with l...moreots of white space, designed to draw the eye to engraved elements that were present, in keeping with the design philosophy of the time. A large portrait of Ulysses S. Grant is the focal point of the face flanked by gold design elements including a 50 protector, serial numbers, and the Treasury seal. The back printed in a gold-orange color has a simple denomination counter. The print run of this variety was 5,184,000. The surviving population is in the hundreds. The Series of 1922 notes have an inscription, not present on the earlier issues, in the left field, "THIS CERTIFICATE IS A LEGAL TENDER / IN THE AMOUNT THEREOF IN PAYMENT OF ALL / DEBTS AND DUES, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE / ACTS OF MARCH 14, 1900, AS AMENDED / ON DECEMBER 24, 1919." The back is the same design as the preceding type. The orange-gold color tended to fade. Today, notes with bright backs are worth more than those with faded color, regardless of the grade. The Anderson note is superb

***Auction Highlight*** 1903-o TOP POP! vam 4a R6 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms68 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 453 (Sale Order: 322 of 613)

***Auction Highlight*** 1903-o TOP POP! vam 4a R6 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms68 By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT – Up for Auction is a TOP POP, Single Finest known example...more. A stunning, blast white SUPERB GEM example of this storied Morgan date! Tied for FINEST graded at either service, this coin is a collectors prize of the first order! Incredible, satiny rich luster glows along with a bold rotating cartwheel bloom. The brilliance radiates throughout the fields and there are no breaks in the flow. Ms. Liberty and the other devices are fully struck up with a thick silver-white frost. Essentially flawless to the naked eye, the quality of the surfaces holds up to the most intense close scrutiny with a powerful glass. The eye appeal is off the charts! The 1903-O dollar is a classic story coin. While the mintage was ample at 4,450,000; the majority of the date was likely melted in the great melt of the Pittman Act. By the 1950s, the 1903-O was one of the rarest dates in Mint State. However, in the early 1960s, all that changed, when bags were discovered in Treasury vaults in Washington D.C. Today, the date is available in most grades through MS66. Above that, it is considered scarce, and at the Top of the Pop, this date is VERY RARE indeed.
