1967 NSU Wankel Spider

Lot # 750 (Sale Order: 80 of 129)

1967 NSU Wankel Spider Low Miles, Time Capsule, Original Rotary. This is a 1967 NSU Wankel Spider Convertible 2 Door with a 498 cc Single Rotor Wankel engine and 4-speed all-synchromesh manual transmission. The NSU Spider is an automobile which was produced by NSU Motorenwerke AG from 1964 to 1967. This was the first production car in the world to be powered by the Wankel rotary engine. This car was thought to be remarkable. It is a milestone car. It first appeared in 1964 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It is very distinguishable by the grill at the front. The engine is rear mounted and to keep weight distribution even. The radiator and fuel tank are located in the front. These cars were either painted red or white. Only 2,375 were built in the three years of production. Today, less than 400 are known to exist. This car hails from southern California and has been stored inside for over 30 years. It is in time-capsule condition underneath with absolutely no visible rust throughout. The car is in incredible, original condition throughout and appears completely original. It features only 76,951 miles from new. It needs a complete restoration, and hasn’t been started for eons but it turns. Parts are accessible. If you have a micro car collection or are a museum or historian this is a must have. There is no condition more desirable than original. Whether to be restored or moth balled as is, this is a legend that has just turned 50 years old from its inception. We have many other parts available separately as well. We believe that this car is 100% complete. We found it with another similar car that we already sold. This is the finest example have ever seen in 40 years on an untouched original. NSU license and brand was purchased by VW back in the 70’s, so there are parts support available through several clubs and specialty vendors. The windshield has been replaced. This micro car is in amazing condition and deserves to be with a museum or collection. We also have numerous parts available for Sport Prinz's and Wankel Spider's.

1990 Nissan Pao

Lot # 756 (Sale Order: 86 of 129)

1990 Nissan Pao. This specific little car is one of my favorite Pike cars ever - in fact it makes me very sad to put it up for sale. With 122,000 kilometers (75,807 mil...morees) this Pao has automatic transmission, full sliding back automatic sunroof, a/c, original factory radio, the original green paint, factory floor mats and rear hatch cover. Also, this car has the factory upgraded wheels (a cute improvement over the original steel wheels). The Pao took a lot of inspiration from Citroen with the exposed hinges and corrugated panels. Also, note the vent windows and the split rear windows (reminiscent of the Citroen 2CV). You literally cannot go anywhere without people asking you all sorts of questions and commenting on how cute it is. All Pao’s have the carbureted 987cc Nissan Micra engine, and power steering. 90% of all Pao’s are automatic as the Japanese prefer automatics in their smaller cars. Only made from 1988-1990 the Pao was made in limited numbers (only 51,657) and the entire production was sold out in three months (from the date of announcement). The Pao was only made in four colors - Tan, Blue, Rust, and Green (the most popular color). Often referred to the Pike Factory Safari Wagon due to it’s dimensions. Reserve is set at $7500. The Nissan Pao is a retro-styled three-door hatchback manufactured by Nissan for model years 1989-1991, and originally marketed solely in Japan at their Nissan Cherry Stores. First announced at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 1987, the Pao was available with or without a textile sun roof and was originally marketed without Nissan branding, by reservation only from January 15 through April 14, 1989. Orders were delivered on a first come-first served basis, with the production run of 51,657 selling out in 3 months. Because of its origins at Pike Factory, Nissan's special project group, the Pao — along with the Nissan Figaro, Be-1 and S-Cargo — are known as Nissan's "Pike cars." In 2011, noted design critic Phil Patton, writing for the New York Times, called the Pike cars "the height of postmodernism" and "unabashedly retro, promiscuously combining elements of the Citroën 2CV, Renault 4, Mini [and] Fiat 500."[
