US ISSUED VIETNAM S SERIES M37 ITHACA RIOT GUN

Lot # 56 (Sale Order: 56 of 656)

SERIAL NUMBER S20860 BARREL 20" CALIBER 12 GAUGE MANUFACTURED 1962-63. One of the least common of all US military shotguns is the Vietnam Issued M37 Ithaca Riot gun..\ An estimated 20000 were made for the US Gov't and immediately issued to US Combat troops. These guns are well known to have been extensively by US Marine Corps personnel as well as US Navy UDT / SEALS. The survival rate is extremely low and a great rarity to fine a superb condition example is uncommon to say the least. This example serial number "S20860 is near new and is accompanied by its original "Range" card. Factory parkerized finish with oil finished walnut stock with factory installed sling swivels. Shotgun was assigned a weapons id # P-3427 that is marked on the right side wrist and rear right side of receiver. Also a rack number "L" 10 that id broadly painted on its right side of butt stock. Both these numbers are indicated on the Range card. While the Ithaca "S" series model 37 shotguns are elusive they are rarely encountered in such a museum quality condition. Interestingly enough this could be explained by the accompanied range card that shows this gun by number was in the possession of a Captain from July 1967 until December 1976. CONDITION, Exceptionally fine with over 97% parkerized finish remaining. The bore is as new. The stocks are excellent and show little use. Absolutely one of best example ever offered. C&R TDW
