SERIAL NUMBER: 2629. BARREL: 19". CALIBER: 6.5X50 JAPANESE. MANUFACTURED: 1940s. Series 5 rifle made at the Nagoya Arsenal. Crisp mum and model markings on the receiver. No import marks found. Matching serials on the receiver, front band and bolt (extractor is not numbered). Floor plate was not able to be removed to check for matching. Original Type 38 sights. Military blued finish. Original two piece wood stock has been lightly sanded and oiled. Includes original cleaning rod, dust cover (original but not matching) and brown leather sling. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its original finish, with general brown patina. Wood has minor wear, scratches and scrapes. Bore is lightly frosted, with good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. RARE IMPERIAL JAPANESE TYPE 35 02/45 NAVAL RIFLE

Lot # 74 (Sale Order: 79 of 592)      

SERIAL NUMBER: NSN. BARREL: 31-1/2". CALIBER: 6.5X50 JAPANESE. MANUFACTURED: CIRCA 1945. Made from left over Type 35 barreled actions, and Type 99 Training rifle stock and sights. These were pushed into service due to the desperate, "last ditch" war effort. Believed to have been made by Izawa under Kokura Supervision. Made with no serial numbers. Uses a "hook Safety" type bolt. Crisp mum and model markings on the receiver. No import marks. 31-1/2" barrel, with blade front sight and 1700 meter rear. Original blued finish and oiled wood stock. Smooth metal butt plate. No cleaning rod. Includes Kokura production Type 30 bayonet with blued blade and hooked quillon. Metal retains 80% finish, with heavy preservative grease in the action. Woos has handling marks, scrapes and scratches. Bore is frosted, with rifling present. Will need a good cleaning, but seems mechanically good (should not fire due to the conditions in which late war, last ditch guns were made). Bayonet has wear and some brown patina on the scabbard, handle and quillon. Blade has not been sharpened. Wood grips have dents, scratches and scrapes. A must have for any WW2 Japanese collection!
