Lot # 2351 (Sale Order: 351 of 900)      

Made from 1868-1872. Block is stamped "1869 US" with eagle head. Lock is dated 1863 with "US" and eagle. Rear sight is 1868 style. Left side of stock has three sharp cartouche stamps, two are "ESA" for Erskin Allin, and an "FWS" for Frederick Sanderson. Matching serial number on left side of barrel and frame. Barrel and other parts finished in the white with case color hammer and lock with oil quenched block. Twin bands and swivels. CONDITION: Lock and hammer case colors have faded. Block is dull grey, all other metal is bright. Stock is fine with just a few handling marks. Strong bore. Offered is a fine, all original, 1889 dated trapdoor that features standard Buffington rear sight, block stamped US Model 1884, lock has eagle but not dated, no trapdoor, standard rod, twin bands, sharp "SWP 1889" cartouche (Sam Porter), and cursive "P" on bottom of wrist. CONDITION: Barrel retains 95% arsenal blue with some scattered age spots. There is at least 85% original case colors on block. Lock and hammer retain 75% of their oil quenched finish. Even the buttplate retains 45% bright blue with dull blue patina on bands. Traces of blue on screws. Strong bore. Comes with original bayonet. This is the first official dated Trapdoor not listed as an Allin Conversion, yet it was still designed by him and uses leftover Civil War parts, such as the 1863 dated Springfield lock, buttplate with no trap, and Allin style folding rear sight. Serial number on left side of barrel that matches number on left side of frame. Stock has three "ESA" cartouche stamps on left side. Still has two piece trigger guard. CONDITION: Barrel finished in the white, as are most of the metal parts which are extremely clean and probably polished, but not ground. The 1870 dated block is dull grey patina as are hammer and lockplate. Wood is excellent with usual minor handling marks. Mirror bore with sharp rifling. An extremely nice example of an 1868 Springfield that was made 1868-72. This rifle comes with an original leather period sling, early model with brass hook and two keepers. There are no visible maker stamps but the previous owner has written his name and unit twice, on both ends: "Company F Nevada National Guards Lee Terrell" and is dated January 3rd, 1892. Standard issue Indian Wars Trapdoor rifle. Features two barrel bands, post front sight, and 1873 pinned rear sight. No VP proof on right side of barrel. Block dated 1873 as is the dated Springfield eagle on sideplate. Walnut stock with no visible cartouche but strong script "P" on wrist. No trapdoor in buttplate. CONDITION: All legends are sharp. Barrel has smooth patina blending with some light blue. Block has no case colors. Stock has minor usual bumps and bruises with a coat of finish added. Rifling is sharp and clean. (A) INTERESTING WILLIAM RICHARDS SIDE BY SIDE DOUBLE HAMMER SHOTGUN CONVERTED FROM MUZZLE LOADER.

Originally made as a muzzle loading shotgun, this gun has been converted to hammer fire during its period of use. It has Damascus barrels with concave rib and steel front bead. Screw fastened forend with wedge to remove stocks. A higher grade gun with nicely scroll engraved locks and hammers. Butt with tear drop behind action is checkered in two point pattern through the wrist and terminates with a full steel buttplate. Double Triggers. Side lever opener. Trigger guard is nicely scroll engraved as are hammers. CONDITION: Very good as partially restored. Stocks retain most of an older restored finish. Barrels retain about 70% of a restored finish. Action is slivered. Bores are good with orange peel. Overall an attractive and interesting conversion. Made by John Nichols and Dan Lefever when they were in partnership, these are high quality early American doubles. This gun, of about "E" Grade quality, though appears unmarked. Made with Laminated barrels, makers name and address on concave smooth top rib. Splinter forend with engraved latch at tip is checkered in point and diamond pattern. Action is lightly border engraved and has thumb push opener. Ball grip buttstock has been heavily repaired with brass plates through grip and terminates in full steel buttplate. CONDITION: Good. Barrels retain about half of their original pattern. Action has turned mostly gray with no color remaining. Buttstock with period grip repairs at grip retains most of an older restored finish and chip at toe. Forend checkering is still mostly visible. Bores are good with a few very light scattered pits. Mechanics are functional. CONDITION: There is some high edge muzzle and cylinder wear but would have to rate this gun a solid 95%. Mirror bore and fine action. Collector quality. (B) Model 1903 in .32 caliber. This gun was made in 1909. This early gun has the flat barrel bushing and the old Browning patent dates. It is a so called "high polish" with fire blue small parts and royal blue finish with latter style checkered silver medallion walnut grips. CONDITION: This gun appears to almost brand new with all the fire high polish finish and blue as redone by a true master. All edges and legends are crisp. Sharp rifling with some frosting in grooves. 99.9% and as good as Colt ever finished a gun. Really needs a minty pair of proper first type rubber grips to be correct. This Bisley has been rebarreled using a Single Action barrel in .44 special along with new matching caliber cylinder. CONDITION: Frame colors redone and fairly well as they look like Colt colors. Grips are very good to excellent but show more wear than finish on gun which now remains at about 95%. Indexes and locks up like new with a clean sharp bore. Should be a tack driving shooter. While many consider the colt python the king of the .357 magnum revolvers there are many, that consider the Model 27 for the top honor. The Model 27 was the post-war continuation of the famed registered magnum that was introduced in 1935 in addition the revolver forced the scarce and desirable 3-1/2" barrel. This particular revolver was built in 1968-69. It was built on the square butt N frame, three screw, six shot, double action, fluted cylinder, pin barrel, recessed chamber, silver medallion, checkered walnut magnum grip with matching right panel. The hammer and trigger are case color. CONDITION: Aside from light drag line this revolver appears to be unfired, in near new condition, with light storage wear and handling marks. This revolver comes in the original matching blue box with original tools and paperwork. About as nice as the come. Smith & Wesson USAF M13 aircrewman lightweight revolver chambered in .38 Special. This six shot K-frame revolver is a four screw round butt frame. All matching numbers including grip panel, an anodized aluminum frame and cylinder, flat latch, pinned barrel. The top strap is marked "Revolver, Lightweight, M13" and the backstrap is marked "Property of U.S. Air Force". Also has a "P" proof mark on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard. CONDITION: The steel barrel retains about 75% original blue finish. The cylinder has about 85% purple hue while frame retains 90% finish thinning on trigger guard. Action is crisp and grips are excellent. Mirror bore. The majority of these guns were withdrawn from service and destroyed because of the aluminum frame and cylinder issues. This gun was made between 1954-56 just after the hostilities in Korea. Comes with an original black USAF marked holster. Rare military weapon. CONDITION: Gun has been fired and has some minor handling marks but excellent 99% finish and sharp legends. Fine bore and action. The original grips have been changed with a pair of real stags. The left side of the barrel is stamped "1871-NRA CENTENNIAL-1971" and gold filled. The caliber markings are on right side.
