(C) ERFURT P08 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH CITY OF WIESBADEN POLICE MARKINGS

Lot # 2311 (Sale Order: 309 of 661)

This Luger has the 1918 dated chamber with Erfurt crown stamped on toggle. All visible matching numbers including inside of both grip panels and alloy base magazine. Pistol has numerous imperial German proof stamps. Standard blue finish, straw color small parts and checkered walnut grips. The front strap is stamped SWII.331 which is a post WWI Wiesbaden Police unit stamp. Wiesbaden was under the control of the French as early as 1918 and continued after the Versailles treaty. Under this treaty, a certain number of handguns were retained by the Germans for police use but France required that they have their should stock attachment removed so they could not be used as a carbine. This example was apparently a French oversight as the lug is still intact. This lot is accompanied by the book entitled German Police Markings by Maus along with some correspondence with the consignor and Maus regarding this pistol. CONDITION: Excellent. Both straps have faded to patina. The straw colors are still visible. Balance of metal retains most of the war time blue finish with overall high edge holster wear, light muzzle wear, along with some minor age freckles. Grips are very good with some minor dings. The bore is strong but frosted. Barrel Length: 4" Caliber/Bore: 9mm FFL Status: Curio & Relic Manufacturer: Erfurt Model: P08 Paperwork: Book, letters Serial Number: 2184m

(C) NORWEGIAN KONGSBERG MODEL 1914 SEMI AUTOMATIC PISTOL.

Lot # 2325 (Sale Order: 323 of 661)

The Kongsberg 1914 is essentially a very close clone of the Colt 1911, with its most distinct difference the extended and dropped slide release. Left side of slide with typical cartridge and model legends, serial number, a crowned "K" proof, right side with 1945 date and script B proof for Jorgen Bjornholt, which is also present on left side of trigger guard; interestingly, Bornholt is recorded as a civilian forced to inspect the pistols as the normal inspectors refused to serve the Germans. This pistol is recorded in "Kongsberg-Colten" by Hanevik on pg. 131, which states that the first digit of the serial number appears to be an 8 but is actually a 3, as the first 3 was stamped in reverse by accident at the factory. Slide with "J" proof behind rear sight. Matching full or partial numbers observed on slide, barrel, slide stop, frame, trigger, thumb safety, grip safety, and mainspring housing. Accompanied by a previous auction description regarding this gun and a plaque regarding the double stamping. CONDITION: Pistol has benefitted from a reparkerization, with white infill used to enhance legends. Some thinning at sharp edges and scattered handling marks from age and use. Some areas of oxidation visible under the park, most notable at left side of trigger guard. Hammer replaced with an in-the-white iteration, magazine similarly in the white, magazine release replaced with an unnumbered one. Mechanically fine, bore is with well defined rifling and mild frosting throughout. Barrel Length: 5" Caliber/Bore: .45 ACP FFL Status: Curio & Relic Manufacturer: Norway Model: M1914 Paperwork: Previous auction listing Serial Number: 30595
