T Peerless Steam Engine

Lot # 203 (Sale Order: 146 of 259)

Peter Geiser, born in 1826, received his first patent for a separator in 1852 and started production on his threshing machines in 1854 near Smithsburg, MD. Geiser, Price & Co. was formed in 1866 in Waynesboro, PA., and in 1869 Geiser Mfg. Co. was incorporated. The first Peerless steam engine was built in 1881. Emerson-Brantingham Implement Co., Rockford, Ill., bought out Geiser Mfg. Co. in 1912 and manufactured Peerless steam engines and threshing machines until the mid-1920s.
This early Model T Peerless steam engine would have been manufactured by Peerless around 1898. Note the wet smoke box. The engine will need a full and complete restoration, including a new boiler. Castings on engine all look to be in good condition, including the gearing. One drive wheel is missing along with the front wood spoke steering wheels. Engine has been transferred to a homemade "frame" making the engine easier to move. A nice piece for the visionary who can see potential!

18 HP Autlman & Taylor Steam Traction Engine

Lot # 204 (Sale Order: 147 of 259)

In 1859 Cornelius Aultman founded the C. Aultman & Co. of Canton, Ohio, and then, in 1867, he co-founded the Aultman & Taylor Machinery Co. of Mansfield, Ohio, with partner Henry Hobart Taylor. The two companies had no relationship other than Cornelius Aultman?s involvement in the creation of both. The growing demand for larger threshers and the fact that the Aultman Taylor vibrating thresher required steady power that was impossible to secure with horse powerforced Aultman Taylor into the steam-engine market. In 1867, they selected a portable engine they deemed the most perfect of all those that were proposed. During the 1870s and 80s, Aultman & Taylor enjoyed rapid expansion as they began to produce steam engines in large quantities.
This 1912 Aultman Taylor engine is one of the finest original you'll find anywhere. The pinstriping and decals are still visible after 100 years! This engine is fully complete, and will require some TLC before the first fire and it is undetermined the last time this engine was under pressure. Gearing looks to be in good condition, the pinions, like most steam engines, has signs of wear but still usable. These Aultman has a lot of potential and will be a fantastic addition to anyones growing collection! Strongly recommend a mechanical restoration and leave the engine in original cosmetic condition.

American Hoist & Derrick Company "Donkey" Engine

Lot # 205 (Sale Order: 148 of 259)

This American winch engine is a fine example of a correct "Donkey" winch engine. These portable steam winches were used as auxiliary power for loading and unloading cargo. The name "donkey" comes from the fact that the engines replaced horses as a power source for cargo handling. The term was also applied to similar engine and boiler units carried aboard ship. Donkey engines were also employed in construction work, and in industries such as lumbering and mining. It is unknown when this engine was built.  The engine is stamped and casted on the engine bedding and the builder, The American Hoist and Derrick Company, of St Paul, Minnesota. The engine type is a two cylinder horizontal and gear driven winch.
