Hudson Bay Turtle Gorget Necklace 18th to 19th C.

Lot # 24 (Sale Order: 26 of 537)      

This is an original wonderfully hand worked piece by a master silversmith of the Montreal Hudson Bay Fur Trade Co. The pendant gorget shows a turtle effigy constructed of copper. The piece was believed to have been made circa 18th to 19th century and shows the following hallmarks: “RG”, walking lion pictorial hallmark, and “MONTREAL”. The necklace is strung on sinew with excellent red 18th century glass trade beads and copper trade beads. The pendant shows an inlaid round red trade bead along the center. The pendant is 5.5”L x 3”W. Necklace is 25.5”L strung.

Hudson Bay Trade Brass Engraved Gorget Necklace

Lot # 25 (Sale Order: 27 of 537)      

The lot features a brass hand crafted gorget necklace pendant showing rocker engravings. The center of the gorget shows a floral design with three luna half moon effigy accents. The piece shows no hallmarks and is believed to be from the Northern Fur Traders to the Native American Indians (possibly imported by the Hudson Bay Fur Trade Co.). The piece is on a strand of Indian hide with one Russian Faceted glass trade bead in cobalt. The gorget is 5.75"H x 6 3/8"W. Necklace is 27"L strung. Review pictures for age.

Signed Navajo Sterling Silver Turquoise Claw Cuff

This is a Navajo sterling silver with turquoise and bear claw cuff. The piece was made by Richard Begay and is signed on the back. The cuff features a bear claw surrounded by four Sleeping Beauty Turquoise stones set in sterling silver. The cuff also shows wonderfully worked flowers, leaves and scrollwork. The Navajo cuff is in good condition. It measures 2" x 3" and is 2" wide.

Rare Handmade Fully Beaded Yoruba Chief Totem

Lot # 35 (Sale Order: 40 of 537)      

This piece is hand made by the Yoruba Ancient tribal people of Nigeria and features tight beadwork with 1800's glass trade beads. The piece would have been placed in the Chief or high elders dwelling to bring peace to his kin. The totem shows the shape of a large lizard with a dancing woman on the inside. The piece is done on a heavy canvas base with the edge and back being an early trade clothe. The piece is from the first to second quarter of the 1900’s. This is in good condition and measures 60" long and 16" wide.

19th Century Leather Upholstered Carved Chair

This is an excellent ornate leather upholstered carved wooden chair from the 19th century. The leather is attached with hammered brass tacks, the leather show use and light wear. Very unique piece. The chair has a wonderful spoon and relief carving accents along the entire piece. The chair is a very well crafted piece. Overall good condition with some wear. It measures 44" T x 19 1/2" D x 23 1/2" W. The arms of the chair are loose but still secure to the chair.

The sign reads, “McCormick-Deering Farm Machines Cascade Hardware & Implement Company Cascade, Montana.” International Harvester Co. sold two parallel lines of equipment, McCormick and Deering, and due to a antitrust action the company was forced in 1923 to release the famous McCormick-Deering line of implements. This sign is from 1923-1940 from the Cascade Hardware & Implement Co. in Montana. The sign is in fair condition with some rust and wear as shown. The sign measures 9.75" x 27.5".
