Rare Kiowa Thunderbird Shield

The piece is from the Kiowa Native American Indian rare shield showing a mineral painted great Thunderbird across the front. The paint shows black, red, yellow, and green ocher mineral paints. This quality piece shows trade cloth, glass trade beads, and what is believed to be a badger claw. The piece is Indian tanned hide on a wood stick hoop and canvas wrapped cross support. This is in good condition for its age, The piece shows fading of the painting (see photos). It measures 16" D

Binion Collection 1922 Silver Peace Dollar

This lot features a Binion Collection 1922 Silver Dollar. After his death, it was discovered by Nye County sheriff's deputies that Ted had had a 12-foot-deep vault built on the desert floor on a piece of property he owned in Pahrump, 60 miles west of Las Vegas. The concrete bunker contained six tons of silver bullion, Horseshoe Casino chips, paper currency, and more than 100,000 rare coins, including Carson City silver dollar many in mint condition estimated to be worth between $7 million and $14 million that were once housed in the Horseshoe vault. Lonnie Theodore "Ted" Binion (November 28, 1943 – September 17, 1998) was a wealthy U.S. gambling executive and one of the sons of famed Las Vegas casino magnate Lester Ben "Benny" Binion, owner of Binion's Horseshoe. His death has been a subject of controversy; girlfriend Sandra Murphy and her lover Rick Tabish were initially charged and convicted in Binion's death, but were later granted a new trial and acquitted on the murder charges.
