Collection of Native American Rugs

This lot features a collection of three Native American rugs. The first rug in this lot is a small Burnwater rug form the Indian Wells region. The Burntwater rug style originated north of the Rio Puerco Valley near Sanders, Arizona. In 1968, Philomena Yazzie was the first Navajo weaver to combine the design elements of bordered rugs, from Ganado and Two Grey Hills, with the earth-toned vegetal-dyed colors from the Crystal regional style. The second rug in this lot is a Zapotec runner with vibrant colors and signature fringe. The finally rug featured is a small Zapotec rug with a elegant pattern and great color. The pieces are in good condition for there age. Measures: ( In Order Listed Above) 21" W x 14" L, 36" L x 22" W, 19" W 16" L

1874 Model U.S. Cavalry McClellan Saddle

Lot # 364 (Sale Order: 435 of 537)      

This lot features a 1874 model U.S. Cavalry McClellan saddle. This saddle is a wonderful example of a McClellan saddle. This type of cavalry saddle was developed by Army Major General George B. McClellan & was adopted by the US War Department in 1859. It remained standard issue in various models for the remaining history of the horse cavalry, which was dismounted in WWII (1940's). They were used by the mounted cavalry in the Indian Wars, Spanish War, Civil War, WWI, & WWII. It's still used today by ceremonial mounted units in the US Army. The leather and brass hardware are all where they should be, and the saddle itself is in good condition. This is a faithful modern recreation of U.S. military history. It measures 22" L x 14" W x 10" H
