Butte Montana Miners Carbide Lamp & Carbide Can

Lot # 424 (Sale Order: 505 of 537)      

This lot features a Butte Montana miners carbide lamp and trademarked Union Carbide carbide can. Carbide lamps, or acetylene gas lamps, are simple lamps that produce and burn acetylene (C2H2) which is created by the reaction of calcium carbide (CaC2) with water. Acetylene gas lamps were used to illuminate buildings, as lighthouse beacons, and as headlights on motor-cars and bicycles. Portable acetylene gas lamps, worn on the hat or carried by hand, were widely used in mining in the early twentieth century. The lamp is marked Universal Lamp Co. Both pieces are in good condition for there age. Measures: (Lamp) 5" H x 4" W x 4" D ( Can) 3 1/2" Diameter x 5 1/4" H

This lot features a Wm Enders Oak Leaf folding handle draw knife. Manufactured by the E.C. Simmons and Company in created 1871 and then incorporated as Simmons Hardware Company in 1874. One of there superior salesman from Texas named William Enders, he later became the companies vice president. During his years as salesmen a line of tools was named after him including the oak leaf cutter. The knife is in good condition for its age. Measures: 14" L x 2 1/4" H x 1 1/4" W

This is a Red Wing stoneware pitcher. The pitcher shows the sponge band with the brilliant blue and gold colors. The bottom of the pitcher is marked "Made in Red Wing". Early Buffalo Head Old West Glass Oil Lamp RARE

This is an excellent early old West Buffalo head glass oil lamp. The early glass oil lamp shows three Great American Bison Buffalo heads accenting the piece. The glass is purpling from age and has created a very light lavender color. Oil lamps and other Buffalo pieces similar to this would have been seen in such historic Old West saloons and hotels like the Irma in Cody, Wyoming (established by Buffalo Bill Cody of the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show). It is in good condition for its age, but does not have a chimney. It measures 6 3/4" D x 13" H. ESTIMATE: $200-$800

Civilian Flap Holster for Colt 1860 Army

This is an early all original Slim Jim full flap holster manufactured during the period for civilian use, much rarer than its military counter part. It is a Slim Jim design of thick russet leather with a toe plug and the military style flap and brass closure. The brass closure, toe plug, and top flap have been lost and the stitching along the leather has come lose. This is still a timeless piece perfect for restoration. The holster is in fair condition for its age. Measures: 11 3/4" L x 4 1/2" W
