Spandau-made Gew 88, updated to the 88/05 configuration by the Imperial German Army, and then given to the Ottomans as aid during WWI. Receiver top has Imperial crown, 1890 date, "S" and Spandau markings. Buttplate has German depot "13" marking and unit marking that reads "3.K. 174". Front band has a unit marking for the German 7th Reserve infantry regiment. Turkish arsenal reblue finish. Mag has a dust cover present. Walnut stock with faint Imperial German cartouches, bottom-mounted sling swivels, and canvas USGI-style sling. Correct cleaning rod is present. CONDITION: stock shows scattered dings, scratches, handling wear, and black staining. Metal is turning a dark patina with some dings on the bbl. jacket, some pitting below the woodline, and scattered further dings and oxidation. Action is sluggish but functional when hand-cycled. Other parts have mixed numbers, with the bayonet lug being WWII German-marked and the bolt shroud being an unnumbered Czech replacement. Receiver top has an imperial crown and "DANZIG 1915" markings. Receiver and bolt assembly, properly "in the white". Other parts are blued. Replacement walnut stock set with takedown disc. Stock appears to be of non-German mfg. and has an "A" marking on the right side of the butt. Parade sling swivels with a repro leather sling. Chilean replacement cleaning rod is present. CONDITION: stock set shows a small crack behind the upper tang, another small crack behind the right side of the recoil lug, scattered dings, and handling wear. scattered dings, scratches, and handling wear. Reciever receiver and bolt are turning gray with some dings and oxidation. Bands appear bright with scattered oxidation and dings from improper removal. Balance of metal is turning gray with scattered traces of arsenal rework blue, some light oxidation, and dings. Fair bore with scattered frosting and pitting but evident rifling. (24-1427/MJC). Receiver top has "dot", eagle "63," and 1943 markings. All visible numbered parts are matching, and the bolt is properly marked with an eagle "63" marking. Blued finish. Laminated stock set with left-side sling provisions and original leather sling. A cleaning rod is present. Stock and handguard are properly "dot" marked, but there are two areas of old tape on the stock and handguard. Because the tape is present, we are unable to disassemble the stock to see internal numbers. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: dot code G24t bayonet with scabbard and leather frog. CONDITION: stock shows a couple moderate chips, a 4 1/2" delamination on the right side of the butt, some flaking, a couple gouges, dings, and handling wear. Metal retains 85% of its original blue, with scattered light fading and edge wear. Very good bore with strong rifling that has some residue that will likely clean up. PROVENANCE: the collection of Curtis H. Halvorson. (23-5921/MJC). CURIO. $600-900.

SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 8450d. Bbl. 23 1/2". Standard K98k sights with hooded front. Rifle was likely assembled by a civilian owner to resemble a "swept back" m...moreount sniper rifle. Left side of the receiver has been crudely ground to accept the repro swept-back mount. Rifle has a repro ZF4 scope with post-reticle and very good optics. Receiver top marked with eagle "135" and "byf 44" denoting 1944 Mauser Oberndorf production. Parts largely appear unnumbered, with the bolt number being ground off. Bolt has repro "key safety" with added red paint. Rear sight screw is missing. Mix of arsenal-blued finishes. Yugo-marked laminated stock set with cupped checkered buttplate, left side sling provisions, and post-war sling. There is no cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set appears to be arsenal-refinished, with scattered dings and handling wear. Metal retains 40% of its arsenal-reworked blue, with scattered fading to gray and oxidation. Hardwood stock set with bottom-mounted sling swivels. Rear sling swivel is bent. Right side of the butt has a matching number that appears to be arsenal overstamped. No cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set has inletted repairs around the mag. body, a notable chip in the cleaning rod channel, scattered dings, scratches, and handling wear. Turned down the bolt handle. 14 1/4" folding spike bayonet marked on the bottom flat "PS". Hardwood stock set. Provision for a side sling. Trap buttplate. CONDITION: stock set has an arsenal rework-type finish with moderate wear and staining and numerous handling marks. Notable dent on the left side over the trigger guard; there are several small cracks behind the receiver tang. ITALIAN MODEL 1891/24 CARCANO BOLT ACTION CABINE.

Cal. 6.5x52 Carcano. S# YM8188. S# matches on the receiver and bbl. Bbl. 17 3/4". Import-marked at the bottom of the bbl. These carbines were converted from Model 1891 in...morefantry rifles in the mid-1920s. The conversion included a modified rear sight, graduated to 1500 meters. The original bbl. was shortened and turned down forward of the rear sight base; this allowed the standard bayonet to be fitted to the muzzle. The front sight is the standard blade type. The bolt handle has been turned down. Receiver is marked only with the S# and a tiny crown acceptance mark. Bbl. is marked on the right flat at the chamber end as "AG". The upper right flat is marked with "FARE 25 TERNI" in an oval. Also marked with "16" as the original manufacture date, it has a 5-pointed star indicating a rebored bbl. The top flat is marked "TERNI". The top left flat has the S#, and the left flat has "SG" in an oval. Upper band has a bayonet lug. Cleaning rod is present. Walnut stock set. The non-matching buttstock is marked by a soldier at the buttplate on the left side, "TRAROTT". Brown leather sling with brass studs. CONDITION: stock set is well worn, with numerous handling marks throughout. Neat inletted repair behind the receiver tang. Handguard has a 1" crack at the forward end. Metal has a worn, faded original blue finish with numerous handling marks. Bolt was polished and is now turning gray. Fair, worn bore, turning dark. (24-1371/RW). CURIO. $250-400.

Provision for a side sling. Hardwood stock set. Buttstock is marked on the right side with "bored soldier", "HAJ DERME", and a five-sided star. There are seven small holes ranged around these markings caused by the removal of tacks at some point in the past. Steel trap buttplate. CONDITION: the stock has its original finish with wear, staining, and handling marks, which stem from hard service. Metal retains traces of blue turning gray with numerous handling marks. Extensive repaired crack on left side of wrist. Metal has an arsenal rework black finish with wear and flaking. Bolt does not fit rifle correctly and will not function properly. Firing pin tip is broken. Butt trap is not present. One screw is missing from upper band. There is a app. 1/4" hole through the magazine. Dark oxidized bore. (24-1923/RW). CURIO. $200-400.

This rifle was one of the numbers supplied to Finland, and so it carries the boxed "SA" Finnish property mark. Barrel is marked on top with the crown "RE TERNI" and on the right side "1938 XVII". Turndown bolt handle. Upper band has provisions for a bayonet. Hardwood stock set. Buttstock has the partly legible circular marking "D'ARMI R.E. TERNI 1939 ...??". Rifle has provisions for a sling on the left side. Trap buttplate. Gray web sling. Sling is attached to the rear swivel by tying. CONDITION: stock set has an arsenal rework finish with an added finish over numerous handling marks. Metal parts have 75% of their original blue, with small spots of oxidation, thinning, and wear. 3 WWII ITALIAN CARCANO MODEL 1891 BOLT ACTION

MILITARY CARBINES. ALL: cal. 6.5 Carcano. 1) MODEL 1891 TROOP SPECIAL. CAL. 6.5 Carcano. S# A8212. Import marked on right side of bbl. Bbl. 17 3/4". Adj. rear sight gradu...moreated to 1500 meters. The troop special carbine was used to equip units which did not require the longer 1891 rifle. The term Troops Special does not refer to special or elite units. Bbl. is marked over chamber w/ "1931 - A - X" / "Faab. Naz D'Armi Brescia.". Straight bolt handle. Carbine is equipped w/ a lug on the upper band to accept a separate bayonet. Cleaning rod is not present. The lower band has side and bottom swivels. Buttstock has side sling bar only. Hardwood stock set. Buttstock is marked on the left side w/ a partly legible oval marking which appears to be date 1925. This has been over stamped w/ a prominent "RE" in the oval which translates to Italian Army. The right side of the butt carries a similar "RE" marking. CONDITION: stock set has extensive wear, staining & handling marks throughout. 1 1/2" crack behind receiver tang. Handguard has crack at the rear approx. 2" long. Forend has extensive crack w/ missing chip along cleaning rod channel. Metal retains 70% arsenal rework black finish w/ thinning & wear. Bore has lightly worn lands, turning dark in grooves. (24-1341/RW). 2) MODEL 1891. S# CAR13509. Original S# XG7881 matches on bbl. & buttstock. Receiver is import marked on left side. Bbl. 17 3/4". Bbl. is marked over chamber w/ "FNA BRESCIA" / "40" / "XVIII" / crown / "RE". Adj. rear sight graduated to 1500 meters. Inverted V front sight. Turned down bolt handle. 14" blade folding bayonet. Hardwood stock set. Buttstock is marked on left side w/ faint partial marking "BRESCIA". Provision for sling on left side. Trap buttplate. CONDITION: stock set has well worn original finish w/ numerous dents & handling marks w/ light staining. Notable dents at nose & right side of buttstock. Bore has worn lands turning dark. (24-1342/RW). 3) MODEL 1891. S# E7341. Numbers match on bbl. and buttstock. Bbl. 17 3/4". Adj. rear sight graduated to 1500 meters. Inverted V front sight. These carbines are often incorrectly called Cavalry carbines but the were issued to many other units as well as cavalry. They are recognizable w/ their permanently fitted folding bayonets. Receiver is unmarked. Bbl. is marked over chamber "FNA BRESCIA" & crown "RE". Marked on right side 1936-XIV" indicating mfg. in the 14th year of the Fascist regime. Bolt has turned down handle & is marked underneath "AA". Hardwood stock & handguard. Provision for sling on left side. Trap buttplate. 14 1/2" folding bayonet w/ triangular blade. Leather type blade lock on right side. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 2 Cleaning rod sections in butt. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework finish w/ added gloss finish, light wear plus scattered handling marks. Metal retains 60% worn, thinning original blue w/ scattered handling marks. Bore is shiny w/ sharp lands & areas of light oxidation. (24-1343/RW). ALL CURIO. $450-600.

Cal. 8x56mmR. S# D-18712. Bbl. 24". Model 35M bolt-action rifle mfg. in Budapest, Hungary, by FEG (Femaru es Gepgyar) and accepted into the Hungarian military in 1940. Th...moree receiver is marked "BUDAPEST" in an arc above "35M". Top of the bbl. is stamped with a Hungarian "Bo (St. Stephen's Crown) 40" acceptance proof, with the S# stamped on the left. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with the bolt assembly remaining in-the-white. Plain wood 2-piece stock (with grasping grooves) and handguard. Matching numbers (only serialized components) are present on the bbl. and buttplate. Front sight hood is not present. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning overall that show through to gray and brown patinas, with some scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation. Bolt assembly exhibits areas of dark age-related discoloration. Fair bore, exhibiting consistent mild dark pitting in the grooves and retaining good rifling throughout. Wood stock and handguard exhibit scattered marks, dings, and impressions but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Left side of the stock exhibits a scratch stemming from the front bbl. band, with some mild gouging present above the mag. housing. (23-6417/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.

Cal. 8x56mmR. S# 1220T. Bbl. 20". M95/30 straight-pull bolt-action carbine, mfg. by Steyr. Top of the receiver is marked "STEYR/ M.95" with an "S" (indicating conversion ...moreto 8x56mmR Spitzer ammunition), followed by a 1916 Austrian military acceptance proof over the top of the bbl. shank. Underside of bbl. is "C.A.I." import marked towards the muzzle. Carbine has been arsenal refurbished, with metal components exhibiting an arsenal reapplied blue finish and with the stock having been sanded and revarnished. All numbers are matching, with the bbl., bolt, and stock having been renumbered to match at the arsenal. CONDITION: excellent, as arsenal refurbished, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some light wear and scattered superficial handling marks overall. Poor bore, exhibiting dark pitting and retaining fair rifling throughout. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Stock exhibits scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (24-1376/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.

Bolt exhibits dark age related discoloration. Fair bore, exhibiting consistent pitting in the grooves, while retaining good rifling throughout. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 7880O4. Bbl. 23 1/2". Standard VZ-24 sights. Original matching numbers on the receiver, stock, and bolt. Other visible parts appear unnumbered. No vis...moreible import marking. Receiver top has a strong Czech lion crest. Left side of the receiver has an "E (Czech Lion) 37" acceptance stamp. Blued finish. Walnut stock set with bottom-mounted and left-side sling swivels. Leather military-style sling and cleaning rod are present. Toe of the buttstock has a red inventory sticker numbered "781". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Steyr-made Chilean M1912 bayonet with matching-numbered scabbard. CONDITION: stock set shows some black staining, some chipping, scattered dings, and handling marks. Metal retains 50% of its blue, with bbl. turning gray, scattered oxidation, some cleaned pitting on the receiver, edge wear, and further scattered pitting. Bright, near excellent bore. (24-1515/MJC). Right side of the receiver has a serial number and Navy Arms import marking. Bolt is mismatched, but other visible numbers are matching. Dull blue finish. Hardwood stock set with faint Yugo cartouche on right side of butt, bottom-mounted sling swivels. Cleaning rod is present. CONDITION: arsenal reworked stock set shows a couple thin cracks behind the upper tang, scattered dings, scratches, and handling wear. Metal is turning gray with scattered traces of finish, scattered oxidation, and dings. Bore has scattered dried grease but strong rifling. (24-1400/MJC). CURIO. $400-600.
