WWII JAPANENSE NAVY TRAINING RIFLE.

Cal. 6.5 Jap Blank. S# 13186. Bbl. 31" smoothbore. Blade front sight. Aperture ladder rear sight graduated to 1700m. Japanese Type 38-style naval training rifle. Chambere...mored for 6.5 blanks, no thought should be given to loading and firing live ammunition. Receiver top bears a circled IJN anchor emblem. The bolt and bayonet lug appear to be unnumbered. Asian hardwood stock set with bottom-mounted sling swivels. Both sides of the stock have Japanese brands. Buttplate displays a poor fit. A cleaning rod is present. CONDITION: stock set appears lightly sanded with an added finish, a few chips, scattered dings, and handling wear. Metal retains 40% of its original blue, with overall fading to brown and scattered oxidation. The bore shows some scattered oxidation. (24-1345/MJC). CURIO. $500-800.

Single-screw butt swivel. Flat wood buttplate. Hardwood stock set with 2-piece buttstock and solid full-length forend. Short handguard. CONDITION: stock set has the wear, staining, and handling marks expected but retains a good appearance. Lightly worn metal shows a good portion of its original blue but is turning patina with light oxidation throughout. Rear guard screw does not align with receiver tang and can not be fully seated. L...moreeft side of the receiver has the "TOKYO JUKI KOGYO" arsenal marking. Fixed aperture rear sight. Inverted V front sight. Bolt has an oval knob and a smooth, notched safety knob. Hardwood stock set with a two-piece buttstock and forend construction. Welded upper band with bayonet lug. Solid lower band without provision for a monopod. Small recoil bolt. Single-screw butt swivel. Flat wood buttplate. CONDITION: stock set has extensive wear, staining, and handling marks. Notable repaired large cracks on the right side of the grip and several fine extended cracks on the left side. Stock has notable machining marks around the grip and comb area. Metal has turned overall patina with light oxidation and wear but retains traces of blue. A screw is missing from the middle of the one-piece trigger guard, leaving the action loose in the stock. Left side of stock has small sticker purporting that this carbine was a Viet Cong used Mosin. It is this catalogers opinion that this Mosin is indeed a real Vietnam bringback due to appearance & lack of import markings but there is no paperwork to prove this. CONDITION: stock set retains much arsenal finish w/ overall heavy wear, chips, dings & handling marks. Metal is an overall dull brown patina consistent w/ jungle use. CONDITION: stock set has an arsenal rework finish with a small crack at the tip of the handguard, a couple small chips, a few abrasions, scattered dings, flaking, and handling wear. Metal retains 90% arsenal rework blue with some scattered blued-over pitting, edge wear, and light oxidation. Safety is not engaging when hand-cycled. Bolt and dust cover work well when hand-cycled. Receiver markings have added white highlight paint. Hardwood stock set w/ bottom mounted sling swivels & leather sling. Right side of butt has large Chinese brand & a number. Replacement cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set has prominent crack behind upper tang extending into comb, a few other cracks, scattered dings, chips & handling wear. Metal is mostly a gray color w/ scattered pitting & oxidation w/ heavy pitting on buttplate. Poor bore w/ heavily worn rifling. (24-1337/MJC). 2) WWII ERA JAPANESE TYPE 38 BOLT-ACTION CARBINE WITH INTACT MUM. Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 10504 Serial # matches on receiver, bolt, and bayonet lug. CONDITION: entire rifle has had a restorative cleaning with a slight loss of wood, a softening of edges on the stock, and a considerable loss of finish on the metal. Top of receiver is marked with a mostly legible "FABRICA...more DE ARMAS/ OVIEDO" above an illegible year of mfg, with the S# marked on the left side of the receiver wall. Metal components exhibit a blue finish. Bolt is polished in-the-white. Plain straight grip wood buttstock and handguard have been sanded and revarnished. Blade front sight with protective "ears" and adj. V-notch rear sight. Cleaning rod is absent. CONDITION: metal components retain traces of their arsenal blue finish, with the balance retaining a mottled gray patina, exhibiting heavy wear and thinning overall, some scattered pitting, as well as some areas with striations from heavy cleaning. Bolt is heavily polished, with the S# being illegible. Dark pitted bore, retaining fair rifling throughout. Stock is good, as heavily sanded and revarnished, exhibiting some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage overall. (24-1633/MLW). CURIO. $300-450.

Black enamel finish. Hardwood stock set with bottom-mounted sling swivels. Right side of the stock has a strong "MAE 1936" cartouche. No cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set appears lightly sanded with a large armorer patch repair at the toe, a large handguard crack, a couple large epoxy-repaired cracks, and a chip on the right side of the action. Stock otherwise shows scattered abrasions, scratches, dings, and handling wear. Metal retains 40% of the arsenal black enamel, with scattered flaking and thinning to gray. CONDITION: refinished stock set with added varnish, a tight crack behind the upper tang, a filler repair on the toe of the buttplate, scattered dings, scratches, and handling wear. KOKURA TYPE 99 ARISAKA BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 7.7 Jap. S# 3727. Bbl. 25 1/2". Blade front sight with protective ears. Aperture rear sight graduated to 1500m with AA wings. Receiver top has a fully intact mum and Type 99 markings. Left side of the receiver has the Kokura symbol, serial number, and 24th series marking. Matching numbers on the bolt handle and bayonet lug. Bolt spring appears weak. Follower assembly and front action screw are missing. Asian hardwood stock with a two-piece butt and left-side sling swivels. Right side of the stock has a white paint marking that reads "THE MARIANAS 1945". Both sides of the stock have Japanese flag art. Replacement cleaning rod, possibly a reproduction, is present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: small Japanese flag, Type 30 bayonet made by an unknown Nagoya subcontractor with scabbard. CONDITION: refinished stock has heavy added varnish with a large repaired crack on the left side of the wrist, scattered chips, gouges, dings, flaking, and handling wear. Metal is turning gray overall, with some tool marks, scattered oxidation, pitting, dings, and traces of blue. Worn, pitted bore. (24-2077/MJC). BOTH CURIO. $800-1,200 for lot.

CONDITION: stock set sows remnants of an old finish w/ crack behind trigger guard ahead of pistol grip joint, scattered dings, scratches & handling wear. Mag & buttplate appear cleaned to bright w/ some oxidation. Balance of metal retains 50% arsenal blue w/ scattered fading to gray & edge wear. Action is functional when hand cycled. Very good bore. Matching numbers on the bolt handle, trigger guard, and floorplate. Other parts, including the rear half of the bolt, are unnumbered or mismatched. Front locking screw is missing. Brightly finished receiver with the Chilean crest and "MODELO 1912-61 NATO" on top. Left side of the receiver has Steyr markings. Trigger appears to be a commercial replacement. Pistol grip hardwood stock set with bottom-mounted sling swivels and leather military sling. Strong Chilean 1912 cartouche on left side of butt. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Czech VZ-24 bayonet with scabbard. CONDITION: stock set shows scattered dings, scratches, and handling marks. Receiver and bolt are turning a gray patina, with some scratches, likely from cleaning, and scattered oxidation. BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 7.65 Argentine. S# B5296. All visible numbers match, including the cleaning rod. Bbl.29 1/4". This rifle retains early features, includin...moreg being made without the magazine retainer or the "wings" on the cocking piece. It has a short hand guard and a brass-tipped cleaning rod. The bolt has a circular knob instead of the later slightly pear shape. The National Crest has been removed. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000 meters. Inverted "V" front sight. Receiver is marked on the left rail as "MAUSER MODELO ARGENTINO 1891/ MANUFACTURA LOEWE BERLIN". Straight bolt handle. Walnut stock set. Butt stock has a crisp oval acceptance mark. Numerous inspectors' marks are on the belly of the buttstock. Bottom swivels. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear and handling marks while retaining a good appearance. Metal retains 75% of its original lightly worn, thinning blue. The crest area shows grinding marks and is turning patina. Very good, shiny bore. (01-25205/RW). ANTIQUE. $ 300-400.
