Matching numbers on receiver, bbl., rear band, rear sight leaf, f...moreloorplate, trigger guard, and rear action screw. Locking screws are missing. Rear action screw number appears over stamped. Other visible numbers are mismatched or unnumbered. Scarce SS rework of an earlier Gew 98 rifle to K98k configuration. Right side of receiver has German commercial proofs as-is proper for SS conversions. Right rear of bbl. has two death head's markings, one with an "SS2" marking. Top of the bbl. has a five-pointed star marking. These markings have white highlight paint. Reworked blue finish. Laminated stock set with armorer-type repair at toe. Left side sling swivels & added bottom mounted sling swivels with US M1907 style sling. Cleaning rod is present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 43 DDL-coded S84/98 bayonet with mismatched 41ASW scabbard in good to very good condition. CONDITION: stock set has a cleaned appearance with scattered handling marks and some staining and dings. Metal retains 70% of its reblued finish, with some dings on bands from improper removal, a few further scattered dings, some pitting on bands, and overall fading to gray. Earlier examples were used by the SA, railway police, and Reichspost. It is believed that some of these late-production rifles were used by various police organizations. All visible matching numbers. Receiver top has Mauser Banner and 1934 date. Left side of receiver has serial number and German "BUGN" proofs. Blued finish. Walnut stock set with left side sling provisions. Cleaning rod is present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked muzzle cover. CONDITION: stock set shows a couple abrasions, scattered dings, and handling wear. Metal retains 40% of its original blue with overall fading to gray, a couple patches of light pitting, scattered oxidation, and dried grease. Action functions properly when hand-cycled. The kit is dated 1937 and has matching visible numbers. Blued finish. Laminated stock set with faint "WaA135" Waffenamt on right side of butt, left side sling provisions, and leather sling. Right side of the stock has two faint eagle "WaA655" Waffenamts and eagle "Heer" marking. Sling cut has altered appearance on right side. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: fnj43-coded S84/98 bayonet with matching-numbered scabbard in good condition with areas turning gray, some pitting, oxidation, and a notable scabbard dent. CONDITION: sanded stock set has some chipping on the right side of the recoil bolt, a 1" crack above the bandkeeper, some gashes on top of the wrist, a couple further chips, scattered dings, and handling marks. SCOPE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 46097d . Bbl. 23 1/2". Blade front sight with hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Rifle is also equipped with a ZF41/1 scope coded "cx...moren" for Emil Busch. Scope has post reticle, and optics are dirty. Unnumbered mount marked "duv" and with an upside-down eagle "214". Scope base lacks a WaA135 Waffenamt, and it is likely the rifle was converted into a ZF-41 configuration after the factory build. Receiver top has eagle "135" and "byf 44" markings denoting mfg. by Mauser Oberndorf in 1944. Matching numbers on receiver, bolt parts, bands, and trigger guard. Other visible parts are unnumbered, with the floorplate being marked with "byf" for Mauser Oberndorf. Blued finish. Laminated stock set with left side sling provisions and worn leather sling that has a couple broken pieces. Stock inspection stamps are very faint due to sanding. Handguard is loose, and the stock may be duffel cut under the rear band. No cleaning rod is present. CONDITION: sanded stock set has an added oil finish with scattered handling marks. Metal retains 60% original blue, with the bottom metal being mostly gray, further scattered fading, and some dings from improper removal of bands and oxidation. Left side of bbl. is marked with Crown over "B", "U", and "G" commercial proofs, with a Crown over "B" and "U" proof marked on the left side of the bbl. extension, forward toggle link, as well as on the sides of the breechblock. Top flat of the forward toggle link is marked "D.R.P./ No75837". Major metal components exhibit a professionally reapplied blue finish, with some smaller components exhibiting either a reapplied straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with contemporary 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard blade front sight and V-notch rear sight. All numbers are matching and include the receiver, sideplate (interior), trigger, mainspring housing (on stock lug), bbl., bbl. extension, breechblock, firing pin retention cap, as well as the forward & rear toggle links. Mag.'s wood bottom is a contemporary replacement. MAGS: 1 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: contemporary black leather case featuring a shield escutcheon on the lid and a green felt lining on the interior. Case contains a flat board shoulder stock with affixed black leather holster, an unmarked oiler, 2-piece screwdriver, detachable cheek rest, black leather sling, a faux wood mag. (with integral brass oiler), a reproduction manual, as well as 85-rds. (60 loose, 25 in period box) of 7.65mm Borchardt ammunition. Stock and detachable cheek rest have been sanded and revarnished or are of contemporary production. CONDITION: extremely fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their professionally reapplied finishes, exhibiting few small scattered spots of light wear overall. Rear of mainspring housing and underside of bbl. (at breech) and bbl. extension (beneath chamber) exhibit some light pitting beneath the finish. Near mirror bore, exhibiting scattered spots of light to mild surface level pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Grips exhibit some mild smoothing and a few superficial handling marks, but are otherwise excellent overall. Case is very good overall, with some exterior scuffing and small tears from handling and storage. Interior of case is excellent. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting light to mild age related cracking overall, with a few small scattered spots of crazing. Stock and cheek rest are very good overall. Long extractor, independently secured firing pin, and early safety. Top of chamber with usual 3-line address: Crown/"C"/"U" on left side of bbl. extension; antler proof on right side. A lanyard ring is present. Major components are rust-blued with the usual fire-blued small parts. The bolt, hammer, and trigger assembly in-the-white. Extensive disassembly shows an all-matching gun. The firing pin was stuck in place and could not be examined. Serrated wood grips are each fully matched to the pistol. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: accompanied by the original matching Conehammer shoulder stock, this example having been stamped with the large oval "Westley Richards & Co. LTD." on the back surface. Complete with a permit card from Canada. CONDITION: very good to excellent bright, original rust blue, approximately 80–85%, with wear in the usual places as one might expect from a pistol that has seen moderate use, i.e., under bbl., sharp edges, and thinning on front/backstrap. Comparable condition small parts with the fire blue having faded from the extractor and cursor. Grips, oil-darkened, show scattered handling marks; the left panel has a noticeable area of flattening below the grip screw. Dull bore, with oxidative etching from corrosive ammunition, shallow rifling. Original stock, dark with numerous handling marks, has a 6" crack extending down from the upper edge of the body with 2 1/2" crack stemming from grip cutout (on body), and 2 small cracks on interior at hinge plate screw. Hardware with thinning and scattered oxidation; no suggestion of touch-up. A very attractive Conehammer with factory matching stock, marked with the scarce Westley Richards logo. RARE & DESIRABLE DWM MODEL 1902 LUGER CARBINE

SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65x21mm Parabellum. S# 24532. Bbl. 11 3/4". Rare and desirable Model 1902 "Old Model" Luger Carbine semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM circa....more 1904-1905. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Underside of bbl. exhibits Crown/B, Crown/U, and Crown/G commercial proofs, with the breechblock and forward toggle link also exhibiting Crown/B and Crown/U proofs. Major metal components exhibit a slightly faded blue finish overall, with some smaller components including the takedown lever, trigger, safety lever, extractor, and ejector exhibiting a strawed finish. Frame is mounted with checkered wood grips, which have been embellished with a single large diamond in the center of each panel. Edges of grips have been sanded down at one time, creating a smooth bordered edge, with traces of original original checkering remaining in some areas. Bottom rear edges of grips are shy to the frame, with the interior of each grip panel exhibiting what appears to be a crowned imperial proof at the center. Checkered wood forend features a German silver wedge escutcheon and a schnabel tip. Detachable wood buttstock features checkering around the circumference of the wrist, with a 2-screw iron and horizontally grooved horn buttplate. Grips, forend, buttstock, and mag. bottom have been lightly sanded and revarnished at one time. Grooved ramped blade front sight with Carbine production pattern 4-position rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame (forend iron), takedown lever, sideplate, grip safety, bbl., bbl. extension, breechblock, toggles, as well as on the interior of the forend. The "2" digit on most serialized components appears to have been stamped with a broken die, with the center section mostly being absent. Stock lug has been numbered to match. MAGS: 1 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: contemporary wood case. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their period blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning (primarily on the grip straps and on the bbl.) that show through to gray patina, with scattered small spots of light surface oxidation present primarily on the bbl. Top of bbl. extension and rear of frame exhibit some scattered dings and impressions. Strawed components exhibit varying degrees of wear that show through to gray patina, with scattered spots of age related discoloration overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting fair rifling throughout. Grips exhibit mild smoothing as well as some scattered nicks to the checkering, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Forend exhibits small scattered marks and minor impressions, with a crack present on the left side stemming from the tip. Stock also shows some marks and small impressions from handling and storage, with a small crack present on the right side of the wrist that stems from the lug. Horn buttplate exhibits hairline cracking overall, with chipping present predominately along the bottom right edge and at the toe. Case is good overall. (24-2231/MLW) CURIO. $8,000-14,000.
