Cal. 30-06. S# 377814. Bbl. 24" w/ 1-10 date, Springfield Armory & flaming bomb markings. Nice 1910 dated specimen. Rear sight grooved to 2700yds w/ volley notch & groove...mored adjustment knobs. Blade front sight. Magazine cutoff w/ serif letters. Straight handle bolt marked w/ an "I" on underside of safety lug & an indiscernible number on underside of handle. Smooth buttplate & trigger. Single bolt high wood stock. Left side of stock has boxed "J.F.C." inspector's cartouche. Underside of wrist has circled "P" firing proof. Bottom mounted sling swivels. Concave handguard w/ 1.7" sighting groove. CONDITION: walnut stock set retains much of its oil finish w/ a 1/2" chipped area at rear left of butt, some dings, scratches & handling marks. Metal retains 30-40% blue & oil quenching w/ overall fading to gray & scattered freckling. Good plus bore w/ some frosting & light pitting. (22-2838/MJC). CURIO. $1000-1500.

Checkered buttplate. Bottom mounted sling swivels w/ M1907 black leather sling. USMC 8x power scope Unertl scope numbered "1361". Scope is mounted on anodized Unertl rings. Scope has recoil spring which is incorrect for a legitimate Marine sniper rifle. Scope has fine crosshair reticle & optics are a bit cloudy. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: two metal lens covers & green scope carrying case. CONDITION: refinished stock set has added oil finish w/ a small crack behind upper tang, some dings & handling marks. PRISTINE CONDITION NRA MARKED DCM SALES MODEL 1903

SPRINGFIELD STYLE S BOLT ACTION RIFLE MANUFACTURED IN 1916. Cal. 30-06. Serial# 623971. Bbl. 24" Marked behind front sight “SA”, “flaming bomb” & “1-16”. Ladder rear sigh...moret, graduated to 2850 yards w/ volley notch. Blade front sight. Rifle is in virtually un-fired original condition. These rifles were sold to NRA members and Officers of the Army and Navy from 1910 to the beginning of the first world war. The NRA mark and the ordnance bomb were added around June of 1915. These rifles were available in 2 versions. This is a Style “S” rifle which used a standard service bbl. There was also a Style “SS” which had a star gauged bbl. These “SS” bbls. were not marked w/ the “star” symbol as that marking began in 1921 but the star gauge record was supplied w/ the rifle. Blued bolt & extractor. Bolt has straight down handle marked only w/ punch proof underneath. Safety lug is marked underneath w/ “9” & “0”. Bolt has single gas escape hole. Extractor has gas escape hole. Safety & cutoff marked w/ block letters. Cutoff is polished on bottom side. Trigger guard is marked on forward tang w/ “NRA” & ordnance bomb. The marking is applied in a transverse orientation instead of parallel to the bore. Marking is not complete but shows enough detail to be read as “NRA”. Ordnance bomb has only flame portion visible. Bayonet lug marked w/ “H”. Fine checkered trap buttplate. Matching walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked on left side over trigger guard w/ boxed “J.S.A.” Stock marked under grip w/ circle script “P” proof & tiny “15”. Marked in cutoff recess “D”. Stock made w/ 1 recoil bolt. CONDITION: stock set has extremely nice original finish w/ crisp markings & several scattered sm. handling marks. One sm. notable dent on right side of forend & handguard. Metalwork retains 90+% original blue finish w/ notable wear on front sight base due to past use of a sight cover. Near excellent shiny bore. (22-4176/RW). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.

Serial number falls within the block reported by Brophy to be N...moreRA Sporter production in 1925. Band mounted white bead front sight with Lyman receiver sight. Bolt and extractor are polished bright. Bolt handle is marked "W L / 3" on upper surface with firing proof punch on lower surface. Barrel, action and bottom metal have rust blue finish. Receiver rails are blued. Finely shaped custom sporter stock of nicely grained walnut has normal NRA features including 2 recoil bolts, contoured barrel band for use without a handguard and shotgun style formed steel buttplate with coarse checkering and carbona blackened. Forearm and wrist have expertly executed 22 LPI hand checkering with wide double borders on leading edges transitioning to borderless top and lower edges. Military style leather sling on original swivels is marked "P.B. & Co / 1918 / C.Y." CONDITION: bbl. and action retain over 90% blue showing light muzzle and edge wear. Good wood finish showing scattered dents, scratches and marks. Bore retains sharp strong rifling showing scattered small dark spots. PROVENANCE: Estate of Frank Glenn Marsh. (22-3376/DS). Front sight was not fitted leaving the Parkerized finish intact which was correct for these rifles. Bbl. is marked "RA" "flaming bomb" "1-44". Bolt has correct turned down handle. All visible bolt markings are "R". Cutoff is marked "R". Scope base has Parkerized finish & is marked "REDFIELD at right rear. Blued steel rings. Scope tube is marked "MODEL 330" "PATS. PEND." "W.R. WEAVER CO." "EL PASO, TEX, U.S." Scope is marked on right rear w/ electro-pencil "TELESCOPE M73 B1" "SERIAL NO. 8532". Walnut stock set w/ scant grip & 2 recoil bolts. Polished bolt with matching electro-penciled serial number has single gas hole. Bolt handle marked on top with “W” “L” & “3”. Reversed safety. Cocking piece is unmarked. Trigger is grooved and appears to be polished at top. Deeply checkered buttplate w/ trap. Matching walnut stock set with very nice appearance marked only with “S” & “O”. Back half of bolt & magazine cutoff have case hardened finish. Receiver rail & follower also polished bright as is correct. Rear sight graduated to 2700yds. w/out volley notch. Rear sight base has proper black painted finish. Blade front sight. Walnut two-bolt stock w/ boxed "DAL" cartouche on left side & circled P firing proof on bottom of wrist. Finely checkered buttplate. CONDITION: walnut stock retains much of its original oil finish w/ some light scarring from improper band removal, some scattered dings & handling marks. Bolt handle & buttplate show some oxidation. Rear band retains 98% blue finish. Balance of metal retains 95% dark parkerized finish. Very good plus bore. (22-4419/MJC). CURIO. $2000-3000.

ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1267461. Bbl. 24" marked behind front sight “SA” “flaming bomb” & “10-24". Bbl. is star gauged & rifle comes w/ original serial numbered star...more gauged record dated “11-18-24” from Springfield Armory. Ladder rear sight w/out volley notch graduated to 2850 yards w/ dished grooved elevation knob & flat windage knob. Front sight blade is wide undercut U.S. Marine Corps. style & has unmarked sight protector. Receiver manufactured in 1925. Receiver rails appear to have been polished but are turning gray. Punch mark is not visible. Receiver drilled & tapped on right side for Lyman 48 sight. Sight base is present & has been polished & left in the white. Sight slide is not present. Bolt & extractor are polished bright. Bolt handle marked on top w/ “3” “L” “K” & “I”. Bolt has single sm. gas escape hole, & extractor also has gas escape hole. Reversed safety & headless cocking piece. Top of follower & underside of cutoff have been polished. Grooved trigger. This rifle was originally manufactured as a National Match Model & had the features of the Model 1925-28 National Match Type. The rifle is accompanied by the original Bill of Sale from a Captain Williams of the 159th Infantry, California National Guard to Stanley S. MacGregor, then a United States Army Corporal. The group also contains a typed interview from Stanley MacGregor dated 12-Jan-1983 & gives information relating to his shooting career & the purchase of this rifle. The interview does, however, contain two discrepancies which may be due to memories spanning many years: 1) the name Williams appears as Wilson, and 2) the purchase price of the rifle is $45 instead of $75. The rifle has been modified by the addition of a Type “C” walnut stock which has an “R” in the cutoff recess but is otherwise unmarked. The buttstock is equipped w/ course checkered buttplate w/ trap. Buttstock hole started but not finished. The rifle has been drilled & tapped on top for scope blocks & mounts a UNERTL 3/4" tube target telescope of 16 power w/ an adjustable objective & fine crosshair reticle. Handguard has been modified by flattening the rear section & inletted for the forward scope block. CONDITION: stock set has very attractive grain in the butt & has been given a gunsmith quality gloss finish w/ light wear & scattered tiny handling marks. Metal has thinning worn original blue w/ scattered handling marks. Floorplate is noticeably bent downward. Scope retains 80% original blue w/ thinning & light wear. Optics appear slightly cloudy but serviceable. Bore is shiny with lightly worn lands. PROVENANCE: Original Bill of Sale and copy. Original Springfield star gauge record serial numbered to rifle dated 11-18-1924. Typed interview from Stanley MacGregor dated January 12, 1983 & original notebook page of sight settings. These very fi...morenely crafted rifles were mfg. at Springfield Armory from approx. 1924 to 1932. They were considered to be extremely accurate & under tests shot fully as well as the National Match version of the 1903 Springfield. Lyman 48 rear sight w/ sm. knobs & flip-up aperture graduated to 125 points. Standard Springfield front sight base w/ blade. Bbl. is marked underneath w/ star gauge number "B 413". Bolt body is polished bright & electro penciled to match S#. Bolt handle is marked on top w/ "J5" & underneath w/ "S". Walnut pistol grip type stock fitted w/ 2 recoil bolts . Stock is marked only w/ circle "P" proof under grip which is correct for these rifles. Checkered steel buttplate & correct milled bbl. band. Standard sling swivels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: damaged partially complete 1-1/4" U.S. Model 1907 sling. CONDITION: stock has light wear w/ staining & scattered handling marks throughout. Metal retains 70% original blue w/ thinning, wear & light peppery oxidation. Floorplate has notable patina. Bright bolt has scattered spots of oxidation. Very good shiny bore w/ sharp rifling. ACTION RIFLE W/ STAR GAUGE BARREL. Cal. 30-06. S#. 1354631. Bbl. 24" marked behind front sight “SA” “flaming bomb” & “4-30”. Lyman Model 48 rear sight w/ sm. knobs & matc...morehing numbers. Blade front sight w/ unmarked blued steel sight protector. These rifles were mfg. from 1923 through 1933 w/ a further 29 further rifles assembled in 1938. The total production of the NRA Sporter was 4,946. This particular rifle was mfg. in 1930. Bolt & extractor are polished & left in the white. Bolt handle is marked on top “NS” for nickel steel & marked underneath w/ “7” & punch proof. Faint punch mark is present on right receiver rail. Top of follower is polished. Grooved trigger. Walnut pistol grip sporting type stock w/ 2 recoil bolts. Forged checkered shotgun type buttplate. Standard milled butt swivel. Forend is held by milled band shaped to obviate the need for a handguard. Band which contains the swivel bow is retained by crosspin. CONDITION: stock has nice original oil finish w/ very light wear & scattered handling marks. Metal retains lg. degree of original blue finish, however receiver is thinning & turning gray. Receiver has "Hatcher hole" on left side. Rifle has a copious amount of grease inside. Safety is not engaging & may benefit from cleaning or mechanical attention. "Scant" stock w/ lighter colored handguard. Circled P firing proof on wrist & foreign name carved into right side of butt that appears to be Greek. Bottom mounted sling swivels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: M1905 bayonet w/ scabbard. Bayonet is dated 1942, marked "WT" & flaming bomb. Bayonet & scabbard are in good condition w/ some oxidation & fading to gray. Rifle appears to have been used as a parade rifle & stock has traces of its former coat of white paint. Replacement WWII era ladder rear sight graduated to 2850 yards w/ dished elevation knob. Flat windage knob marked “R”. Blade front sight. Bolt w/ swept handle is marked on top “5” & “7”. Marked underneath w/ “K” & “W”. Bolt has one gas escape hole. Later style cocking piece w/ drain hole. MK1 cutoff. Walnut stock set. Stock is marked w/ only 2 faint circle “P” proofs. All milled furniture including flat smooth trap buttplate. White web parade sling w/ brass plated keepers. Sling has staining turning dark. CONDITION: stock set has been heavily refinished to eliminate white paint but retains traces of white in pores & protected areas. There is considerable loss of wood in inletted areas due to the refinish. Metal retains 70% greenish WWII era arsenal re-Parkerization w/ thinning & wear.
