MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 8MM Mauser. S# 8331k. Serial numbers match on all but bolt assembly. Bbl. 23 5/8". Barrel marked on top of chamber "ar -4- on". Marked on left side w...moreith German eagle proof. Receiver is marked on top "eagle 10" over "ar" and "43". Receiver marked on left side eagle proof and "Mod. 98". Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters. Inverted V front sight. Bolt with turned down handle. Milled trigger guard and floor plate. Cleaning rod and bayonet bar are present. Laminated stock set is unmarked. Cup type buttplate. Stamped lower band. Milled solid upper band. CONDITION: stock set has an arsenal rework finish with added finish. The butt has a scorched appearance with loss of finish. The metal parts retain about 50% of the original blue with wear turning grey. Take down disk and buttplate have a mottled appearance from the scorching. Bore has lightly worn lands with light frosting in grooves. (24-4167/RW). CURIO. $300-500.

Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 3954a. Bbl. 23 1/2" with import marking. Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight, graduated to 2000m. Russian-captured and reworked Mauser Oberndorf K98...morek rifle with mixed parts. Original matching numbers on receiver, bbl., and front sight. Left side of the stock has added a Russian matching number, and several parts, including the bolt, have a matching electropencil number. Receiver top has "S/42" Mauser Oberndorf marking and 1938 date. Dull Soviet rework blue finish. Laminated stock set with left side sling provisions. Cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set retains traces of arsenal reworked finish with a few small chips, scattered dings, scratches, and handling marks. Metal retains 90% dull Soviet arsenal blue with some light scratches, dings, blued-over pitting, light oxidation, and fading. Action functions properly when hand-cycled. Fair bore with scattered frosting and pitting but strong rifling. (24-3909/MJC). CURIO. $1,000-1,400.
