LATE PRODUCTION SPRINGFIELD BOLT ACTION MILITARY

RIFLE. Cal.30-06. S# 1467764. Bbl. 24". This rifle, mfg. in 1934, has an "S" stock and a WWII replacement barrel marked behind front sight "U.S.M.C. 9-43" and an encircle...mored "S." These barrels were made by Sedgley for Marine Corps use as field replacements. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2850 yards w/o volley notch. Blade front sight with unmarked sight cover. Replacement "BF"-marked bolt. Extractor has a gas escape hole. Receiver does not have a "Hatcher hole" but is drilled and tapped for Lyman 48 receiver sight, which is not present. All milled furniture. Trap buttplate with deep checkering. "C"-type walnut stock and handguard marked "S" in cut-off recess. Brown leather Model 1907 sling markings are not legible. UNNATTCHED ACCESSORIES: nickel-plated oiler in butt. CONDITION: lightly worn original finish stock set with scattered handling marks. Metal retains 75% of its fading blue finish with light wear. This rifle has tran...moresitional features from Remington's ongoing efforts to reduce production time. Barrel is marked behind front sight "RA," a flaming bomb, and "2-42." Ladder rear sight graduated to 2850 yards. All sight markings are "R." Sight base made without lightning cuts. Blade front sight. Receiver tang is drilled through for guard screw. Bolt is made similar to the later 1903-A3 type. All bolt markings are "R." Cutoff marked "R." All milled furniture, except the lower band, is stamped. Smooth trap buttplate. Straight grip walnut stock with two recoil bolts. Stock is marked with only an encircled "P" proof under grip. Brown leather "UNCLE MIKE'S" sling. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear and handling marks over an arsenal rework finish. Metal retains 50% of its original worn Parkerized finish. Floorplate has been polished. Cal. 30-06. S# 4798918. Bbl.24". Marked behind front sight "SC" with a flaming bomb and "10-43." Aperture rear sight graduated to 800 yards. Blade front sight. Swept bolt...more marked on top of handle "B2" and marking underneath appears as "F." Safety lug is Remington style, as is the bolt shroud. All stamped furniture, including large bow triggerguard and fine checkered trap buttplate. Walnut stock set with two recoil bolts. No acceptance marks are visible. The grip is marked underneath with encircled "P" proof. Assembly marks are visible ahead of the trigger guard. CONDITION: stock set has a worn appearance commensurate with extensive service. There are numerous handling marks as well as a small area of O.D. green paint on the left side of the handguard. The metal retains about 50% of its original finish with thinning and wear. Blade front sight. Sight base marked "E".Receiver has the encircled star to the right of the eagle acceptance mark. This is reported to be present on early Winchesters due to interchangeability issues. The bolt handle and shroud are marked "E". Cocking piece is "W". Bolt release is 'E'. Walnut stock set. Stock is marked "E" at the forend tip. CONDITION: stock set has a nice original finish with moderate wear and handling marks. The receiver has most of its original blue finish; the balance of the parts has a mix of blue and early parkerized finishes. Follower has been modified to allow the bolt to close on an empty magazine. Bore with sharp lands has a small degree of frosting. (24-3905/RW). CURIO. $800-1,200.

Ladder aperture rear sight graduated to 1600 yards. Blade front sight with protective ears. Scarce sheet metal follower which allows bolt to close correctly during the manual of arms. Unmarked walnut stock set. Kerr "NOBUKL" web sling. UNNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: nickel plated oiler in butt. CONDITION: replacement buttstock has light wear and staining. Handguards are a darker hue with slightly more wear. Metal retains a large degree of an arsenal rework parkerization with light wear. Bore has moderately worn lands turning dark in the grooves. The right side of the buttstock is marked w/ a number of Canadian unit markings plus the letters "CEF". There is a faint circular marking partially legible which has "DC" & "broad arrow" surrounded by "QUEBEC". There is an additional yellow-painted marking "65 N.Y. B 60" indicating US National Guard service. There is additionally under the grip the "U.S. / flaming bomb / S# / L116". Rifle has the Harris mag. follower. Fully adj. Sutherland aperture rear sight graduated to 2200 yards. Blade front sight w/ protective hood. Straight pull bolt w/ sliding safety. 3 bottom swivels. Stacking swivel & bayonet lug are present. Walnut stock set. Buttplate w/ sliding trap. CONDITION: stock set has worn original finish w/ dents, scratches & handling marks throughout & series of marks on both sides of butt, likely from rifle being clamped in vice. The markings were given an additional "1" ...moreafter the original "M1" and a "B" was added to the s# as a suffix. The barrel is marked behind front sight "SA (flaming bomb) 11-28". Barrel is marked on the left side of the chamber "LONG RIFLE CART'GE ONLY". Lyman 48 rear sight. Slide is graduated to 125 points. All sight assembly numbers match. Blade front sight equipped with issue sight protector. Scope blocks have been fitted. The front block has a notably thick steel shim. The bolt body has adjustable headspace and is finished in-the-white. Bolt handle is marked on top "NS M2". Unmarked walnut stock has a stamped cup-type checkered buttplate. Worn vintage Model 1907-style leather sling. MAGS: one 5rd., marked "M-2" on the left side. CONDITION: stock has a very nice-appearing arsenal rework finish with tiny scattered handling marks. CONDITION: overall very fine, with 97% original factory finish, showing a few minor handling marks primarily on the lower tang. Matching serial number on the bbl. A U...moreS Ordnance bomb is also found on the receiver alongside "Military Finish" markings. "AHP" is hand stamped on the lower tang. FJA crossed cannon stock cartouche is found on the left side of the stock. CONDITION: Overall condition reflects likely use in the field, with the original metal finish showing some muzzle wear, handling marks, a thinning finish on the high edges, some heavy marks, scattered scratches, and some fine pinprick oxidation. Stock set has good markings and numerous scattered handling marks. The forearm is cracked at the receiver in multiple locations. The butt has a light crack at the buttplate and receiver. Bright bore.
