The shotgun buttplate has vivid case colors. Lightly refinished wood shows scattered scratches and marks. Forearm has a full length repaired crack along bottom. Action is sound. CONDITION: nicely restored rifle. Bbl. and mag tube retain 98% properly reblued finish. Action and fittings have 98% restored case colors. Edges bending the bottom flat showing faint pitting ...moreforearm or receiver with some small marks along the length of the forend. Equipped with rare Rocky Mountain front sight and semi Buckhorn rear for sight by Freund, Cheyenne, WY. Full length mag. Beautifully case colored receiver, lever and hammer with blued breach bolt and trigger. Forearm and pistol grip stock with ebony grip insert of XXX black walnut. Features include style “H” factory checkering and hard rubber shotgun buttplate. Inside of lower tang marked with assembly number “590” followed by “SRB” and wood grade marking “XXX”. Top tang channel of stock has matching assembly number. Cody records show that it was received in warehouse on August 10, 1889 and shipped the same day to order #24581. CONDITION: very fine. Bbl. and mag tube retain over 98% original blue showing very faint edge wear and tiny marks. Action has brilliant case coloring showing slight wear and very small spots along edges. Very good original wood finish and checkering show only a few scattered light marks. Bright near excellent bore. Crisp mechanics, bolt face shows little or no use. Bbl. edges show small handling. Left bbl. flat shows spotted light freckling with handling marks 8" from the muzzle & at the end of bbl. as depicted in the 2013 photography. PROVENANCE: The Wes Adams collection. (01-22294/DS). Briggs/Pittsfield/Maine”. Left inside of lower tang marked “42, lazy 6, 459” followed by “XX” wood grain marking. Mainspring retainer stamped “FR”. Top tang channel of stock has matching “459” assembly number. Mfg in 1900. CONDITION: bbl. and mag tube retain over 97% original blue showing slight muzzle wear. Action retains over 80% blue showing edge wear with some fading from carry use. Hammer and lever retain 90% lightly faded case colors.
