Eastern Carbine. Vintage lever action repeating rifle chambered in .30-30 Winchester. Manufactured 1971. Features a blued finish, 20" barrel, full-length tube magazine,ramped, blade/bead front sight , adjustable rear buckhorn sight. Smooth trigger, serrated hammer spur, steel receiver, smooth walnut forend and straight wrist shoulder stock with factory black plastic buttplate. Left receiver drilled/tapped for sights/optics. Bore is excellent/bright, strong rifling, needs cleaning. Retains about 80% blue finish with handling wear minor scratches/edge wear, very light scattered pin-prick pitting on the receiver and upper tang. Wood is very good/sound with some small scuffs/scratches on the buttstock Markings are crisp. Action is smooth. NRA Condition-Good. C&R Firearm.

Marked "VILLEGIA MAKER S.F." (California) on the barrel and "VILLEGIA" on both locks. 26" BBLs marked with London proofs and "15" on the underside. Bore measures approximately .680" at the muzzle. Good to very good condition with about 50% brown damascus pattern on BBLs and case colors drifting to grayish blue. Fancy figured walnut checkered stock w/ checkered wood butt and steel caps. Engraved gold oversize plaque inlaid in the wrist. Good action and bore. Partition style case lined in green felt similar to English arms of same era. Shot flask and 2 powder measurers included w/ no other accessories. Interior is good w/ normal age and imperfections along w/ small lining loss and damage, exterior of case good w/ damage to ends. A good gun by a scarce maker from the estate of Larry Shelton, author of "California Gunsmiths" book.Condition is NRA Good**Antique Firearm**

19th Century "Whalers Cane".

Exceptional carved marine ivory grip with fluted whalebone shaft showing abalone shell inlay (probably from California to N.W. Coast). The hilt shows a carved hand holding a whale tooth. Turn ferule in marine ivory separates fluted whale bone shaft which connects half-way down to turned light colored hardwood. Age cracking and larger stress cracks from use as a cane. Condition is good and we would date this cane 1850s - 80s, at the latest. 38" from tip to end. Grip or handle is 4 1/4" across. Similar pieces in Flaydermans Catalog and Book.

Ames M1840 Heavy Cavalry Saber.

Lot # 174 (Sale Order: 229 of 741)      

U.S. Model 1840 Ames Heavy Cavalry Saber. 35 1/4" flat sided blade with wide fuller, Ricasso stamped "N.P. Ames Cabotville 1848, obverse stamped "U.S. WD". William Dickinson (1848-1850). The hilt is made of brass, featuring a three-branch guard and a leather-wrapped grip, with brass wire inlay. Side of guard is stamped "14", indicates a specific lot or production number. The pommel is stamped "WD", "W.C.K." unknown (1848-) and "J.W.R." James Wolfe Ripley (1843-1855). Blade is overall good condition, no nicks, some patches of pitting on the lower end, guard & pommel have a nice aged, mellow patina, the grip wire is intact with some scuffs to the leather. The 2 ring steel scabbard has been lacquered, good shape with a couple of very minor "door" dents on the lower end. Drag stamped "A.D.K." A.D.K. ~ Andrew D. King (1840-1865). A very nice example.

Ornate cased double barrel percussion shotgun signed F. P. Rogniat A Turin (Italy). This fine gun is ornately deep scroll engraved with finely checkered and carved deluxe burl wood stock. 12 ga with 32" barrels, 47 1/2" overall, 13 7/8" pull. Weighs about 6.91lbs. The barrels show nearly all European gray-brown finish and striping. The locks and mounts lightly cleaned to "French gray". Stocks are very good with minor cleaning and light wear. The purple velvet lined original case is very good. Accessories include very good flask, leather shot flask, rods, tips, misc. One partition damaged, good oak exterior with initials M.P. or M.L.P. inscribed on inlaid plaque. Actions are crisp and gun is serviceable. percussion shotgun with patent marked grip safety, #2637. 29 1/2" barrels, 46 1/2" overall, choked modified right barrel, improved modified left barrel. Weight about pounds. Exhibits normal Purdey quality throughout with scroll engraving on locks and mounts along with unusual "burnt cord" stripping to the stock and checkering on wrist and forend. 14 1/2" from trigger to buttplate (steel). Very good plus overall condition with 70 percent or more brown Damascus pattern on barrels. Locks and mounts are a gray patina and show some minor pitting at the firing areas. Stocks show minor handling and use with no major defects just light wear. Actions are crisp and work well with original rod retained. A 7 1/2 to 8 on a 1-10 condition scale. The original to period case is retained with full trade label legible and matching address 314 1/2 Oxford St., London. An invitation to a hunting (expedition) is tacked inside the lid. The carrying ring on top is inscribed, "Philadelphia, Colonel John Hare Powel." The note tacked on inside of lid is an introduction of John Hare Powel to Thos. Rice by Thos. W. Gibxxx, dated 1845, concerning a hunting expedition by Powel and Thos. L. Rice. Note was in letter addressed to Westmorland County, Virginia. The interior of case in green felt and shows staining, mothing, wear and minor imperfections but generally good overall for approximately 180 years of age. The case contains a powder flask, shot flask, eley cap tin (sealed), cap dispenser, tin with wadding, rods, brushes, oilers, loading devices, extra rod tips, pocket shot dispensers, wads and misc. In conclusion, a nice and early Purdey set with researchable American history or association. Ex Larry Shelton prominent expert, author and collectors estate. ***Antique Firearm***

Antique Civil War era breech-loading lever action Saddle ring repeating rifle chambered in .56-56 Rimfire, manufactured circa 1863-1865. The Spencer was adapted by the Union Army during the American Civil War and was the worlds first military metallic cartridge repeating rifle. Features a blued 22" round barrel, front sight base but blade is flush with the base, flip-up ladder style rear sight graduated to 700 yards, rounded trigger, knurled hammer spur, 7 round tube magazine located in the buttstock, Stabler magazine cut-off, sling bar with saddle ring, J shaped finger lever, smooth walnut forend with single barrel band, and straight grip shoulder stock with metal carbine buttplate. The barrel shows an aged dark brown patina. The former case hardened receiver display a mottled light/dark grey patina with scatter light pitting. The lever/feeding operation seems to be in good working order, the two cock hammer & trigger mechanisms work well, the bore is fair to good, somewhat bright with good rifling, some scattered light pitting. The forward top of receiver marked "SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE CO BOSTON MASS, PAT’d MARCH 6, 1860" and the serial number is on the top rear receiver, markings are mostly readable. The wood stocks are sound with the usual dings and dents, there is a small sliver of wood missing from the rear top of the left side forearm, the rear sling swivel missing and the base screws appear to old replacements, no front swivel.Condition is NRA Fair to Good as Antique Firearm.

Fancy 19th Century walking stick with gold head. W.D.E. marked with small makers stamp. Measures 34 1/4" from tip to end. Head weighs 34 grams (14k) and inscription has been professionally removed from the top panel. The work on gold is excellent, remaining stamp sharp and crisp. The shaft is ebonized hard wood. Very good to near fine condition overall.

Model 1860 Staff and Field Officer’s late production sword and metal scabbard by M.C. Lilley & Co., Columbus, Ohio. Sword has 29" narrow, straight blade with etched military motifs over half its length including "U.S.", American eagle, battle trophies, etc. Brass non-folding guards with nice eagle/crossed cannons motifs. Sharkskin grip with twisted brass wire, nickel steel scabbard is very good with minor flaking, brass mounts, throat, and drag. Missing leather washer. Overall very good condition, no nicks to the blade, no scabbard dents.

Features a blued finish, 20" barrel, full-length tube magazine, hooded ramped, blade/bead front sight , adjustable rear buckhorn sight. Smooth trigger, serrated hammer spur, steel receiver, smooth walnut forend and straight wrist shoulder stock with factory black plastic buttplate. Left receiver drilled/tapped for sights/optics. Bore is excellent/bright, strong rifling, needs cleaning. Retains about 90% blue finish with scattered pin-prick pitting on the receiver and upper tang. Wood is very good/sound with some small scuffs/scratches and a minor chip out of the left forearm. Markings are crisp. Action is smooth. Black nylon sling attached.NRA Condition-Good. C&R Firearm.

From the Larry Shelton collection, author of "California Gunsmiths." The rifle is approximately 46 caliber with 31 1/2" heavy octagon barrel and turned at the end for false mizzle with matching bullet starter and false muzzle. Engraved lock and iron mounts double set triggers, unique buckhorn rear sight marked "Lodi". Good quality grained walnut checkered stock with wide checkering at the wrist. An old rod included of right type. Action and triggers work well. An unusual rifle as to location of manufacturing. Tang sight missing. Good condition overall with normal aging and imperfections. Weighs 12.85 lbs. Note: This maker 1881-1884 worked mostly as a wagon maker but also trained as a gun smith.Condition is NRA Good***Antique Firearm***
