Farriers Corrective Horseshoes.

Lot # 311 (Sale Order: 412 of 741)

Intriguing and wonderful display case exhibiting 19 different early corrective horseshoes. Several of the shoes have the initials "A Mc" stamped. These were all custom work to address specific issues. The one with the "coin" in the heel looks like it was used to heal a contracted heel. The ones that have a wider plate along the sides were possibly for cracks/separation along the hood wall. The shoes with trailers were for correction of foot placement & gait. The oddball shoe with "teeth" is believed for a foot that was very weak and that was made for stabilization and to reduce the force to the wall from the nails.
