1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SL 'Mechatronik'

Lot # 150 (Sale Order: 51 of 68)

A re-engineered classic, created for the modern driver.

  • Starting life as a beautiful 280SL Pagoda, now re-engineered by Mechatronic for a more modern driving experience

  • Presenting very nicely with white paintwork, black leather interior and all the chrome refinished in gloss black

  • Timeless good looks blended with modern Mercedes-Benz mechanicals

  • Lightly used since the conversion and indicating just 700km at the time of cataloguing

The ultimate Mercedes-Benz 280SL 'Resto-mod', equipped with a 4.3-litre, 340bhp AMG powerplant and modern amenities like ABS, air conditioning and many other refinements in braking, suspension and steering that make this car the ultimate everyday classic. Much like Singer do with the Porsche 911, Mechatronik combines the original's timeless looks with modern dynamics, reimagining and re-engineering the SL from the ground up.

The odometer indicated just 700km at the time of cataloguing suggesting that this re-engineered masterpiece by Mechatronic has just been run in. It's superbly finished in gleaming white paintwork with a smart black leather interior and, unusually, the chrome work has been refinished in gloss black chrome (at great expense) as a hint to unsuspecting onlookers that this is not any ordinary ‘Pagoda’.

2009 Lamborghini Murciélago SV LP670-4 Coupé

Lot # 152 (Sale Order: 53 of 68)

During the Geneva Motor Show In 2009, the SuperVeloce LV 670-4 was unveiled. Having the SV previously appear on marques like the Diablo and Miura, a lot was expected of this. They are a little more extreme and race ready than the production cars, and produced in much fewer numbers.

The Murcielago SV has a 6.5L V12 generating 661BHP, at 8000rpm and improved torque all due to the revised valve timing, and upgraded intake system. Lamborghini also reduced the weight by 100KG, by using copious amounts of Carbon Fibre. A lighter exhaust system contributes also, to the weight saving.

The result was a much better power to weight ratio. With much more performance, Lamborghini improved the Braking system too, with 15-inch carbon-ceramic discs and 6 piston callipers. The press quoted the SV having the ability to do 0-60 in 3 seconds, with a top speed of 209 mph. Costing £270,000 new, and having only produced 186 they have become increasingly more desirable.

This 2009 SV was delivered new to the Middle East we are informed, it is left-hand drive and shows  16,244 KM on the odometer.

2015 Ferrari LaFerrari

Lot # 153 (Sale Order: 54 of 68)

•    6,262cc, DOHC V12 Hybrid Engine. 963hp at 9,000rpm•    Luca di Montezemolo,’ "We chose to call this model LaFerrari because it is the finest expression of our company's unique, unparalleled engineering and design know-how, including that acquired in F1”•    0-62mph (100kph) in less than 3 seconds. 0-124mph (200kph) in less than 7 seconds. 0-186mph (300kph) in less than 15 seconds•    Showing 2,200 kms and presented in white with a red interior •    An extremely rare and amazing opportunity

As with all of Ferrari’s top-shelf sports cars, LaFerrari was born out of the company’s relentless pursuit of perfection through performance. While the car was in development, it became apparent that consumers were not only interested in world-beating performance and cutting-edge technology, but also making a concerted effort to reduce their carbon footprint. While mainstream manufacturers had been using electric hybrid power to reduce emissions for years, few had realized the potential to not only make a more efficient car, but also increase performance to levels never before possible. While both McLaren’s P1 and the Porsche 918 can be driven on electric power alone, the electric motor in the LaFerrari functions solely to support the V-12. Working similarly to the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) in Formula 1 cars, the LaFerrari harnesses the kinetic energy produced during braking and reuses it when additional power is required from the combustion engine in the form of a brief power boost. Total output is rated at 950 bhp, with 789 bhp produced by the 6.3-liter V-12 and an additional 161 bhp delivered by the electric motor. Its power combination driving through an seven speed dual clutch transmission, provided lightning quick acceleration, with the following remarkable set of figures:

0-62mph (100kph) in less than 3 seconds0-124mph (200kph) in less than 7 seconds0-186mph (300kph) in less than 15 seconds

This, left-hand drive example, is showing 2,200 kms and is presented in white with a red interior.

2009 (Circa) Mercedes-Benz SLR Brabus Roadster

Lot # 158 (Sale Order: 59 of 68)

Manufactured between 2003 and 2010, their new supercar allowed Mercedes-Benz and its then Formula 1 partner, McLaren, to showcase their collective experience in the development, construction and production of high-performance sports cars and, just like its legendary 300 SLR predecessor of 1955, it incorporated technological developments that were ahead of their time. Yet the term supercar does not do full justice to the SLR, which, its peerless performance notwithstanding, is a luxurious and finely engineered Gran Turismo in the best traditions of Mercedes-Benz. Rather than creating an all-out, no-compromise supercar, Mercedes-Benz and McLaren decided to take a slightly different route. Instead of placing the engine behind the cabin, the car had a front-mid-engine layout, with the engine sitting behind the front wheels and just ahead of the cabin. This, near-perfect, weight distribution not only helped to improve the SLR's handling but also provided the car with a rather spacious cabin and a decent boot, not common in cars boasting such performance credentials. As it was supremely engineered and built to incredible standards at McLaren's facilities in Woking, it boasted a very high level of fit and finish, absolutely appropriate for any car wearing a Mercedes-Benz badge.

This, left-hand drive has been enhanced by Brabus and is presented in striking blue.

1963 Corvette Stingray

Lot # 161 (Sale Order: 61 of 68)

Now in its sixth generation, the Corvette began life in 1953 with the C1 - a model that inspired a generation of young Americans and gave the Ford Empire a nine-year headache. However it was the C2, the immortal Sting Ray produced between 1963 and 1967, that really set Chevrolet's cash registers ringing and left us with the most desired and collectible Corvette to date. Designed by Larry Shinoda under the guidance of the legendary Bill Mitchell, influences on the Sting Ray's unique and unforgettable form are said to include: the E-type Jaguar, a Mako shark once caught by Mitchell, the 'Q Corvette' concept car of 1957 and the 'Mitchell Sting Ray' design exercise. By the autumn of 1959 elements of the two unique Corvettes had been built into XP-720 - the design programme that led to the production of the Sting Ray as we know it. The aims for the new car included: improved passenger accommodation, more luggage space and superior ride and handling and with this in mind a new ladder chassis was created for the car by Zora Arkus-Duntov, the most important element of which was the move away from a live axle to independent rear suspension, courtesy of lateral struts, radius rods and transverse leaf spring. The independent front suspension was much as before, as were the recirculating ball steering and there were a number of drive train options available including four small block V8 engines, three transmissions, and six axle ratios. One major innovation was that the C2 was available in both Convertible and Fastback Coupé form. The latter initially featured a dramatic split rear window, but rear vision was poor so this was discontinued a year into production.

This particular 63' split screen Corvette Stingray looks to be an honest example of the iconic american muscle car.

1974 (Circa) Toyota FJ 40

Lot # 165 (Sale Order: 65 of 68)

The FJ40 was in production from 1960 to 1984, and all the way up to 2001 in Brazil. It was Toyota’s best-selling model in the United States between 1961 and 1965, an easy accomplishment seeing as it was the only new Toyota sold in the U.S. during those years. The F in FJ refers to the Type F engine and the J stands for Jeep, meaning the more generic WWII-borne use of that term and not the brand Jeep currently owned by Fiat Chrysler. The 40 refers to the displacement of the inline-six engine and the Land Cruiser name was conceived in 1954 by Toyota technical director Hanji Umehara who said: “I had to come up with a name for our car that would not sound less dignified than those of our competitors. That is why I decided to call it Land Cruiser,” in The Story of Land Cruiser from a 1985 Toyko 4x4 Magazine.

‘’Some people rove the land, some people cruise it, no wrong way to go as far as I’m concerned’’.

This example is a 1984 FJ40, presenting in LHD. It appears to be in good condition and is presented in Red over Brown cloth interior.
