Fragrant Chinese Oud Agarwood Carving - 2.7 lbs

Massive, impressive and wonderfully fragrant agarwood carving known by many different names and one of the most valuable woods fetching as much as $100,000 per kg. Rightly dubbed "The Wood of the Gods". This particular piece is expertly carved throughout depicting monks and elders among trees, a boy gifts fruit to an elder with is father looking on with shield and spear in hand. Custom base is intricately detailed throughout with blooming cherry blossom trees and layers of land. Size 9" L x 8" W x 10 1/2" H, weight 1235g (2.7 lbs.)

Fragrant and dark colored wood elegantly carved in a solid form with the agar wood base separately. The scene carved to all sides features a scenic background and scholarly figures or wise men with numerous additional figures. Additional names and grades are often called aloeswood / eaglewood / gharuwood / oud / Oudh. Oud / agarwood forms in the heartwood of Aquilaria tree once they become infected with a particular type of parasitic mold. Important Mexican Revolutionary War Sword, by Hermenegildo Aragon 1909

Important Mexican Revolutionary War (1810-1821) sword by one of the finest swordsmith families Casa Aragon signed by Hermenegildo Aragon, Ejutla de Crespo 1909. Gilt brass eagle head pommel. Snakeskin wrapped grip with gilt twisted wire. Guard with a downturned quillion and pierced openwork with raised loop to one side. Stippled with floral motifs. Slightly curved machete-sword blade with double edged and etched panels. Etched to both sides with scrolling and one side of an eagle fighting a serpent surrounding the inscribed poem "Si Me Picaz No Me Muero, Te Agarre Como Valiente, Con Los Filos De Mi Acero, Nada Nos Queda Pendiente" which translates to " If it stings me, I won't die, I'll grab you like a brave man, with the edges of my steel, nothing is left for us". The reverse etched with the inscription in Spanish "Por Hermenegildo Aragon Y Hermano, Ejutla Junio 9 De 1909" translating to the name of the finest sword maker of the period "Hermenegildo Aragon & Brother based in Ejutla de Crespo June 9th, 1909.

Casa Aragon has been producing fine blades in Mexico since 1750. Their workshop originally based in Ejutla de Crespo started moving to Oaxaca around 1905 making this example from the old workshop extremely rare as one of the last machete sword produced from the original location. Hermenegildo famous for his unique method of tempering steel so well it could be bent into a circle without breaking. Size 34" L, blade 29" L. Important Mexican "Armeria Americana" Sword, Circa 1883-1918

Mexico, important Mexican generals sword with scabbard, circa 1883-1918. Fantastic custom sword for a general or high ranking officer with a long single edged blade profusely etched with scrolling and decorative patterns including two (WK&C) hall marks and a serial number # 4150. The reverse etched to the ricasso "Armeria Americana Mexico" and flanked by two large panels of scrolling with the Spanish coat of arms between. Very unusual scalloped guard with two downturned quillion all nickel plated. Nickel plated steel scabbard with two belt loops. Lightly dinged. Size 39" L, blade 31 1/4" L

Armeria Americana Mexico (founded 1867) owned and operated by Arsene Combaluzier born in Ardeche, France 1840. Arsene during French Intervention of 1862-1867 had been enlisted with the Castagny Brigade of the French Expeditionary Force in Veracruz. During the conflict Mexican General Porfirio Diaz was captured and taken prisoner under the supervision of Arsene Combaluzier. Having sympathized with General Diaz and the Mexican cause for justice he helped General Diaz escape prison. Altering the course of Mexican History. General Diaz would later become president of Mexico in 1876. As a reward for the actions of Arsene he was granted by President Diaz Mexican Citizenship and the sole exclusive ability to import arms into Mexico.. Age of Sail, spanish colonial cup hilt rapier with engraved broad blade. Large straight double-edged blade with central shallow wide fuller. Etched to the blade with partially legible inscription reading to one side "Viva La,…" and the other a date with possible reference to a King Ferdinand VI. Each surrounded by scenes of crowns, scrolling, double-headed eagle, and other heraldic symbols. Solid cup hilt guard with heavy roped steel edge. Well marked to the ricasso at either side with hallmark stamps. Wide straight quillion with flared scalloped ends. D-shaped hand guard with matching decoration. Turned steel twisted wire grip. Oval carved pommel, hand peened. Size 46" L, blade 37 1/2" L

Single fuller to the first portion of t...morehe blade engraved at either side with crosses and various patterns surrounding the Latin words (O mater dei memento mei) meaning (O Mother of God, remember me). Guard with a very attractive embossed bowl with pierced sides and the embossing reflecting foliate or floral motifs. Crossguard very wide straight quillion with multiple bars at either side and a single D Shaped Bar over the grip. Pommel hand peened with the grip wrapped in finely wound copper wire in four panels. Size 44 1/4", 37" to base of bowl to the tip.. Condition: Typical wear commensurate with age and use. The engraved blade clearly visible. Typical very minor looseness to bowl..
