W., volume 1 has a mounted albumen photo portrait of Dante. 3) THE WORKS OF LORD BYRON. volume 2 ONLY, vi, 521pp, plus a mounted albumen photo of Byron for the frontispiece. 4) LAYS OF ANCIENT ROME: WITH IVRY AND THE ARMADA, MacAulay, T. B., 240pp plus a black and white frontispiece drawing. And added to the bottom is "O to recall. What to recall”? - Phillips. Green cloth, gold lettering. Bubbled surface above the authors name and on the back, tear at top of spine and mild scuffing on corners. Archibald Hamilton Rutledge, 1883-1973, is the author of dozens of books about hunting and is perhaps most well known as South Carolina’s most beloved poet laureate. His former home, Hampton Plantation, is a state operated park and is open to the public. Rutledge’s notable descendents to name only a couple include two former South Carolina governors (his grandfathers) and a signer of the Declaration of Independence....more
