Each of superbly-carved dark wood with rich patina of finish, including man in costume of early 1800s including top hat, long tail jacke...moret, breeches, and with satchel and rifle, with maker's initial H.A. on underside. And carved donkey with carved detail of harness and saddle and with two detachable baskets, a baby resting in one, and a bird and dish in the other, with old paper label on underside, indicating provenance to the estate of J. Meyer-am Rhyn. Excellent condition, repair to donkey tail. Grodnertal, early 1800s.

Outstanding Early Apothecary Shop with Original Contents 3500/4500

34" (86 cm.) x 19" x 11". The early wooden shop with angled sides has original painted ochre/brown finish and is fitted with numerous cabinets, drawers and shelving aroun...mored the three walls, and with matching counter which stands in the center of the wooden floor with original patterned finish. The store is lavishly filled with apothecary contents including a matched set of milk glass labeled jars which line the top shelf, dozens of glass bottles with intriguing herbal cures, and various labeled tin and cardboard containers, as well as scales, mortar and pestle, ladder, two skulls and a skeleton. A porcelain head man in blue uniform stands in attendance. The shop has original Apotheke name at the center top of back wall. Excellent condition. Germany, mid-1800s.

Superb All-Original French Bisque Bebe Marchant by Maison Bru with Signed Bru Shoes 7500/9500

Bisque socket head, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, lavishly-painted lashes, brushstroked brows with feathered highlights, rose-blush...moreed eyeshadow, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, dimpled chin and philtrum, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, composition body with jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists and knees, and kid-over metal hinges at hips which connects to keywind mechanism in torso. When wound, the bebe cries "mama" and "walks". Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bebe BruR 11. Comments: Bru, Girard epoch, the bebe was deposed in 1891 as Bebe Petit Pas and, again, in 1892 as Bebe Premiere Elan, and was marketed as Bebe Marchant; it was made in this one size only and, considered a luxury model, sold for 30% more than the classic bebe Bru of the era. Value Points: rare model in superbly preserved condition, the bebe is wearing original aqua silk brocade and lace dress with matching bonnet, original undergarments, socks, and ivory satin shoes impressed "Bru Jne Paris".

French Mechanical Toy "Merry Couple on a Bicycle-Built-For-Two" with Pup 1800/2200

14" (36 cm.) l 9"h. Bisque head man and woman with blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, closed mouths, man with painted moustache and goatee, carton torsos an...mored lower limbs, wire upper limbs, are seated on a tandem bicycle (commonly known as bicycle-built-for-two), with rubber-edged spoked metal wheels, metal frame, and with attached rod with wheeled base to which is attached a white furry poodle with red leather blanket. When wound, the riders briskly wheel along, their little pup at their side. Condition: dolls excellent, costumes original with some dustiness, mechanism appears intact and working except bicycle fork needs reinforcement at wheel junction (mechanism sold as is). Marks: F.G. (dolls). Comments: French, circa 1890, the tandem bicycle enjoyed popularity during the 1880s when a number of patents were issued, and was further popularized with the 1892 song "Bicycle Built For Two". Value Points: all-original toy as important social history document is given added charm with attached pup, original costumes.

Outstanding Early German Reliquary Store with Plentitude of Contents 3500/4500

The wooden store with angled roof is painted, original brown exterior with added painting of curtained window at one side, and an open win...moredow for clerk at the other side which is framed by painted shutters. The store rests upon a green velvet (later) covered base, and has original store signage "Raritaten - Devotionalien" above, with tapestry covered front counter, and lace edged shelving at the back wall. The store is filled with an extraordinary collection of miniature religious artifacts including candle holders, statuary, domed wax figures, reliquaries, chalices and more and a bisque doll (later era, circa 1890) stands in attendance. Excellent condition. German, early 1800s.

Value Points: the delighted young lad is wearing his factory original black velvet sailor suit, and his cart is filled with four little pups and three miniature bisque dolls.

Condition: generally excellent. Marks: A 980 M Germany 16 DRGM. Comments: Marseille, circa 1915, the doll has mechanical device in torso and, when wound, the doll moves eyes back and forth in a flirty manner, while simultaneously sticking tongue in and out. The doll was presented as a promotional "attention-getter" in children's clothing shops. Value Points: very fine quality of bisque and modeling, with rare, amusing and well-functioning mechanical device.
