American Cloth Topsy-Turvy with Hand-Painted Faces 300/500

12" (30 cm.) An alternate doll head is posed on either side of a muslin torso, and designed so that the full-length costume which accompanies each head will hide the alternate head. When the doll is flipped over, the second head and second costume appear. Each head is firmly stuffed and has hand-painted caricature features depicting a wide-eyed white-complexioned child with bow-shaped lips and painted blonde bobbed hair, and a widely-grinning black-complexioned child with painted teeth and large eye whites. Of silky-finish plush with lustrous finish, the bear has triangular-shaped swivel head with pronounced snout, black embroidered nose tip, small black shoe button eyes, stitched ears, very plump torso, jointed arms and legs, twill paw pads. He is costumed in a silk jacket with gilt and silk banners, aviation goggles, collar and bow tie, and a maroon wool felt beret.
