Unlike the Hitler Youth (HJ), this group focused on games and social activities under the supervision of primary school teachers. By 1938, over 350,000 children were enrolled, and participation became compulsory in 1936. Upon turning 10, members transitioned into the Deutsche Jungmädel (girls) or Deutsche Jungvolk (boys), eventually joining the Bund Deutscher Mädel (BDM) or Hitler Youth (HJ) at age 14. This pennant is an important relic of NSDAP German youth indoctrination efforts, serving as a precursor to the Hitler Youth movement.
