The lower crossguard is district-marked "Nrh" (Niederrhein), identifying the regional distribution. The wooden grip retains its original SA roundel and eagle insignia.

The piece retains its brilliant, original colors and is professionally framed.
Designed by renowned artist Georges Schreiber (1904-1977), this poster was created in memory of the USS Dorado (SS-248), a Gato-class submarine that was tragically sunk off the coast of Cuba in 1943. Schreiber had sailed aboard the vessel in the summer of 1943, giving him a personal connection to the artwork. The USS Dorado was lost due to a German U-boat minefield, making this poster a powerful tribute to the men who served aboard her.
