Grand Army of The Republic Badges

Lot # 102 (Sale Order: 102 of 361)      

The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was a fraternal organization composed of veterans of the Union Army, US Navy and Marines who served in the American Civil War. Founded in 1866 in Decatur, Illinois, it was dissolved in 1956 when its last member died. The GAR was among the first organized advocacy groups in American politics, supporting voting rights for black veterans, lobbying the US Congress to establish veterans' pensions, and supporting Republican political candidates. The badge with the star at the bottom and eagle at the top was authorized by Congress to be worn on the uniform by Union veterans. The other four pin back buttons are from different GAR events and or encampments. They are all approximately 1 1/4 in size. The one on the bottom right has some foxing, the rest do not.

Vintage Tin Beer Sign - Great Falls Select - "Hits The Spot Everytime!"

Lot # 103 (Sale Order: 103 of 361)      

This tin sign is one of the more desirable sings from Great Falls Brewery out of Great Falls, Montana. It was made by General Display Prod. in St. Louis, MO. As there is no zip code on the address, this sign is more than likely from the 1950s, well before zip codes were instituted. No major damage or defects - small scratches in various areas, which is normal for a sign of this age. Measures 18" x 22".

1960s Porcelain Pharmacy Canister - Rexall Drugs - "Cera Flava"

Lot # 104 (Sale Order: 104 of 361)      

This porcelain medication canister was meant for display at a pharmacy and is particularly different because it says "Rexall" on the back. Beautifully hand painted with gold, sage green and yellow artwork, this canister also features the words "Cera Flava" on the front which translate to "yellow wax." This canister was given away by drug companies to pharmacies circa 1960 as gifts. No chips or cracks. Measures 11.25" x 4.5".

5 Different Howdy Doody Welch's Grape Jelly Glasses

In 1953, Welch's started putting their grape jelly in glasses that featured the likenesses of the different Howdy Doody characters, as well as their different catchphrases and sayings. There were six designs in various colors - up for bid is five different glasses in two different colors - orange (3) and red (2). There are no chips, cracks or fade to any of the glasses. All five glasses are very colorful and are in excellent codition. Measures 2.5" in diameter and 4" tall.

Vintage Arm & Hammer Sold Vulcnaite Match Holder

Lot # 107 (Sale Order: 107 of 361)      

This rare Arm & Hammer Soda Match Holder is made of vulcanite probably between 1890-1908.  The material is very fragile so probably not many survived.  On both the top and bottom pieces is the Arm & Hammer Logo with the words "Arm & Hammer Soda" and is marked on the bezel "Compliments of Church & Co".  It is approximately 3" in length  and is very clean and in excellent condition.  You will have a hard time finding a nicer piece.

Antique Large British Irish Decal for the Great Southern Railways

Lot # 109 (Sale Order: 109 of 361)      

This oddity is from around 1926. There is a great entry in Wikipedia on the company. From England or Ireland for an Irish company, the printing appears to be stone lithography. It has been carefully removed from it's original packaging and place upon linen-backing (acid-free paper over canvas). It would have originally been place on the windows of the train cars. The size is 12 1/4 x 13 3/8 inches. There has been some touch-up in small places where the colors have flaked off. The item will be shipped flat.

She is in a green corset with a chiffon fishtail skirt that spills onto the floor. This is a Gold Label Collector's Edition. The Gold Label Keepsake dolls have a limited production with no more than 25,000 produced worldwide with this doll only having 6500 produced making it a truly Rare doll. This is unopened in the original package and was Never Removed from Box - Box is in excellent condition. Blitz Weinhard Lighted Motion Sign

This is a great old sign from the mid fifties. It is for Blitz Weinhard beer from Portland, Oregon. It features the snow flake design they started using in 1956 for the 100th anniversary of the brewery. The sign has a metal back and plastic face with a motion wheel inside that makes the sign look like it has falling snowflakes. The sign was made by The Ohio Advertising Display Company and is approximately 15 x 4 1/2".

Cutie Paper Dolls - Featuring Fred, Lou,Dot and Kay

These adorable paper dolls are made of heavy duty, thick cardboard and show no wear.  The clothes are cut out and most are in excellent condition, even the told down tabs have not been used on the majority.  Each piece of clothing is marked as to which doll it belongs to.  The box, except for a tear on one of the sides is also in very good condition.  One of the stands is missing but with an x-acto knife and a piece of cardboard one could easily be made.  The box measures approximately 9 1/4" x 1/2".

Japanese Woodblock Print of Two Kabuki Actors by the two artists Toyokuni III and Hiroshige

This amazingly detailed work of art depicts two characters in a Kabuki play. This is probably a comical scene from the play in which the characters converse over a bowl of noodles. Old woodblock prints depicting Japanese food have become very collectable in recent years. The artists on this are Toyokuni lll 1786-1864 and Hiroshige 1797-1858. Publisher is Kinshodo with a seal from 1854.

Offered is an 11 ounce flat top beer can from Lucky Lager Brewing Company of San Francisco, California. It is for Lucky "Bankers" Ale. This is a very nice indoor can with great color and shine. The can was recently found full and has been bottom opened. The bottom of the can has some green paint loss and there are a few case dings along the rims with some humidity spot here and there. This is one of the cleanest examples of this can we have seen.

Pair of Los Angeles Brewing Co. Etched Beer Glasses - Carmel Mission & Mission Santa Barbara

Lot # 124 (Sale Order: 124 of 361)      

Offered are two different pre-prohibition beer glasses from the Los Angeles Brewing Company. They are from Los Angeles Brewing Company series of different California Missions and also both advertise Mission Malt Tonic. These are from Mission Santa Barbara and Carmel Mission. The Mission Santa Barbara still has its gold rim intact and has one fleabite/chip. The Carmel Mission glass has no chips or gold rim. Size of both glasses is approximately 2 7/8" x 2" the Carmel glass is slightly shorter and may have been polished to remove chips.
