FRENCH LEBEL SPIKE BAYONET
French Lebel Spike Bayonet, 25" long
France adopted the Lebel repeating rifle in 1886. An epee bayonet, designed by Colonel Capdeveille, was adopted for the rifle at the same time. The bayonet is an unusual design, for its epee spike (knife bayonets being predominate this time), and also for its unusual rotating collar locking device. In 1893 the press stud for the rotating collar was changed, the quillion was removed in 1916, and in 1935 the blade was shortened.

Dutch 1871 Beaumont Socket Bayonet, 23" long
This is a socket bayonet manufactured from the period of 1871 and variations used to about 1894. They are distinctively Dutch in that they use a cruciform blade and have a unique "2-screw" locking ring; the locking ring is in two parts, held together by two screws on opposing sides.
These are attached by fitting them over the barrel muzzle, and fastened into position by means of a mortise slot and locking ring.
All metal construction.
These were designed to fit the 9.4mm 1871 Dutch de Beaumont Rifle and its variants.
