    Korean War Air Force Pilot Grouping PATCHES PHOTOS WING

    Lot # 10187 (Sale Order: 82 of 553)      

    Here is a very interesting lot of early 1950s Korean War era pilot's items, including 40 plus photographs, 5 patches and a silver bullion wing on tan twill. The patches measure between 2 and 3 inches in diameter. The wing is 3 inches long. The photographs included in this auction are divided between touristic shots of Korea and intimate scenes from the life of this pilot (name unknown). Some of the photos show curling and yellowing, one has surface scuffs. The items in this lot do have wear consistent with age, but overall they are in excellent condition and offer an fascinating glimpse into the life of an early Air Force flyer.

    Shown here is a 20 piece lot of black and white Post-WWII era military photographs. These official publicity photos from 1946 portray a child's visit to a Florida USAAF air base. The photos show the boy's participation in daily base activities such as radio communication and his introduction to base officials. The lot includes twelve 8" by 10" photos and eight smaller photos of varying sizes. The photos show light to heavy wear consistent with age, including curling, tanning and some surface wear, but overall they are in good condition.

    Aviation Art Cold War Warriors Young B-47 Tex Johnston

    Lot # 11300 (Sale Order: 95 of 553)      

    The B-47 became the first true modern bomber to fill the ranks of General Curtiss Lemay's new Strategic Air Command. With long range, high altitude capabilities, the "e;Stratojet"e; became the backbone of SAC in the early 1950's. As fast as many early jet fighters, with sophisticated defenses and an operational altitude of up to 40,000 feet, the B-47 was a strong deterent in the early days of the nuclear standoff. This print is sing by the artist and personally autographed by B-47 test Pilot A.M. "e;Tex"e; Johnston. Tex as his friends called him, was famous for barrel rolling the prototype B707 over the Hydro races in Seattle, WA in 1955. This print is in perfect condition and has never been mounted. It is a L/E of 850 prints. The image is 25"e; x 18 1/2"e; and comes with a framable COA....more

    One of the last of the majestic propliners, a Douglas DC-7C operated by Braniff International Airways climbs out of Rio de Janeiros' Galeao Airport. Named for its ability to span all oceans, the Douglas DC-7C "e;Seven Seas"e; was the final piston model of the famous "e;DC"e; series produced by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Designed to provide the ultimate in speed and luxury for commercial air travelers the model was short lived as the mainstay of international aircarriers. After only a few short years the DC-7Cs were pushed off to shorter routes by the commercial jets. This is a L/E of 1000 copies and is personally signed by the artist. I has never been mounted and is in perfect condition. It comes with a COA that is suitable for framing and has an image size of 22 1/4"e; x 15"e;....more

    Aviation Art Fill Up for the Cadillac Young B-52

    Still in front line service as a major component of our strategic bomber forces, the Boeing B-52 was built before most of its crew members were even born. The first flight of the YB-52 prototype was April 15, 1952 and the production that followed reflected a continued development of the massive bomber. Boeing's B-52 Stratofortress was the core around which the modern Strategic Air Command was developed. The final version was the B-52H, to many "e;BUFF"e; pilots a real Cadillac when compared to the earlier models. This L/E print of 650 is sign and numbered by the artist.     Aviation Art Belle...Homewardbound Young B-17

    Lot # 11305 (Sale Order: 100 of 553)      

    Capt. Robert K. Morgan and his crew climb out over the English countryside and the eighth Air Force Base, Bovingdon, 9 June 1943. this time, having compleated their 25th mission over enemy territory the previous month, they are heading the other way, northwest across Scotland, then across the Atlantic Ocean for the United States ... and home! The aircraft and crew spent the next two months flying around the country on a War Bond promotional tour. The "e;Memphis Belle"e; became a household word and certainly one synonymous with B-17s and World War II. Saved from the smelter at the end of the war. the "e;Memphis Belle"e; was restored and put on display in the city of her namesake. This L/E print of 850 is signed by the artist and personally autographed by the pilot of the Memphis Belle Pilot Robert K. "e;Bob"e; Morgan. It has never been mounted and is in perfect condition.
