A tuned 4.5-lb. precision trigger, along with a midline ambidextrous safety and reciprocating charging handle, make the rifle easy and intuitive to run. Custom features like match grade sights and a top-end premium barrel come standard. SPECS: Black composite stock with checkered grip panels, 22" National Match medium weight 6-groove carbon steel barrel with 1:11 twist, Match-Grade .0520 aperture rear sight with 1/2 MOA adjustment for windage & elevation, National Match .062" front blade sight with ears, 3" flash suppressor, 2-stage NM tuned trigger, sling rings with black nylon sling, black cushioned rubber buttpad, side-mounted Weaver-style scope rail, Tasco World Class 4-16x50 scope and 20-round steel magazine. CONDITION: This rifle is in nice condition with very light wear, has a perfect sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: The Springfield Armory M1A was introduced in 1971, and is based on the M14 rifle. It was designed for the civilian and law enforcement markets in the United States. "M1A" is a proprietary name for Springfield Armory's M14-pattern rifle. The M14 was developed to take the place of 4 different weapons systems: the M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M3 Submachine Gun, and M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR). It was thought that in this manner the M14 could simplify the logistical requirements of the troops by limiting the types of ammunition and parts needed to be supplied. It proved to be an impossible task to replace all four as the cartridge was too powerful for the submachine gun role and the weapon was too light to serve as a light machine gun replacement for the BAR. The Springfield Armory M1A is, for the most part, identical to the M1 with the exception of a full auto selector switch. Springfield Armory correctly offers four variations of the M1A rifle: Loaded Rifle, Match Rifle, Scout Squad and SOCOM Rifle. DISCLAIMER: In 2023, Illinois passed a law banning the sale and purchase of semi-automatic "assault weapons" and large-capacity ammunition feeding devices. This law defines more than 170 different models of firearms, including this one. Illinois residents may NOT participate in this lot.
