Lot # 332

(Scarce) 1971 Remington, 591M, 5mm Rem. Magnum, Bolt-Action, SN - 1044451

Lot # 333

The 5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum cartridge was introduced in 1969, by Remington, which chambered two bolt action rifles for its use. The Remington Models 591 and 592 hit ...morethe open market in 1970, with a plan to challenge the success of Winchester’s .22 WMR. The 5mm bullet diameter is actually the same as the .204 Ruger centerfire round, and can hold its own ballistically with both the .22 Hornet and .218 Bee centerfire rounds—quite a feat for a rimfire. Despite Remington’s efforts to launch the round into popularity, the early 70s market never fully embraced the 5mm, and the guns were discontinued in 1973 with a production count around 60,000. This Model 591M was made in 1971, and sports a smooth walnut stock with high fluted comb & gloss finish, brown/ black wood grain style grip cap with yellow lettering, black checkered buttpad, 24" barrel, ramped adjustable rear sight, dovetailed high silver bead front sight, 4-round detachable box magazine and sells complete with a Weaver V22 scope w/ Weaver rings. This gun is in nice condition with very light wear, has a sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order.
