Thompson, M1 "Tommy Gun", 45 ACP, Semi-Auto, SN - KG0092

Lot # 52

Brigadier General John Taliaferro Thompson’s legendary Tommy Gun arrived too late for World War I, but it served our country admirably throughout World War II, Korea and ...moreVietnam. And although sometimes overshadowed by its G-man Model 1921 counterpart, it is the United States Submachine Gun, Cal. .45, M1, with horizontal fore-end, “L”-shaped rear peep sight, side-mounted charging handle and stick magazine that we see in movies such as “The Longest Day,” “Saving Private Ryan” and “Band of Brothers.” In 1938, the Thompson submachine gun was adopted by the U.S. military. During WWII, in the European theater, the gun was widely utilized in British and Canadian commando units, as well as in the U.S. Army paratrooper and Ranger battalions, where it was issued more frequently than in line infantry units because of its high rate of fire and its stopping power, which made it very effective in the kinds of close combat these special operations troops were expected to undertake. The Thompson M1 has since been used victoriously in battles throughout the world, inscribing its place for all times as a legend among military firearms. This 45 ACP semi-automatic version M1 has all the classic details of the time honored original. The frame & receiver are machined from solid steel, and the wood is genuine American walnut. Features include a 16.5" barrel, rear battle sight, front blade sight, sling rings and 20-round magazine. 1 Of 800 - 1975 Winchester, Model 12 "DU Commemorative", 12 Ga. (30" F), (W/ Box), SN - 12DU494

Lot # 71

The Winchester Model 12 has been popularly named the "Perfect Repeater". It was designed by Winchester engineer, T.C. Johnson, and was based in part on the M1893/97 desig...moren by John M. Browning in that it used a sliding forearm or "pump action" to cycle the mechanism. With forged and machined steel parts, the ultimate reason for discontinuation in 1964 was that it was too expensive to produce at a competitive price. Special production examples were produced by Winchester & Browning through specialized gun collector purchase programs, but the original "Perfect Repeater" shotgun was never mass produced after 1964. This Winchester Model 12 "DU Commemorative" is #494 of 800 produced in 1975 to pay tribute to Ducks Unlimited's leadership in waterfowl conservation. Features include a special etched engraving on both sides of the receiver - the left side sporting a bronze medal depicting the canvasback- the right side spotlighting a jumping jack, bronze pistol grip of the official DU crest, select American walnut stock with deep cut checkering, gold plated trigger, traditional rubber recoil pad with black/ white spacers, jeweled shell lifter, 30" FULL barrel, high vent-rib with silver mid-bead & red bead front sight, 14.5" LOP and 2 3/4" chamber. This gun is believed to be unfired but will have some various light box wear, appears to be in good working order and comes in original box with paperwork.

(Scarce) 1919 S&W, "M" Ejector of 1902 "Ladysmith" 3rd Model Perfected, 22 S&W, Revolver, SN - 22910

Lot # 72

Early in the last decade, Smith & Wesson tore a page from history and introduced a series of handguns devoted to the defensive needs of the modern woman. The first revolv...moreer bearing the cognomen "Ladysmith" was the Model M Hand Ejector of 1902, a .22 rimfire version of the series that encompassed the then-new Military & Police .38 Special and later the .44 Triple Lock and its progeny. The M-frame revolver was scaled to fire a .22 rimfire cartridge known as the .22 Smith & Wesson (or Smith & Wesson Long) and was directed toward adventurous women of the time who sortied abroad unchaperoned on their bicycles. With one of these in her handbag, the devotee of the velocipede was well-equipped to deal with such tramps, vagabonds and dogs that might hinder her progress. The small size gave rise to a legend that haunts the Model M until this day. It is widely believed that Daniel Baird Wesson withdrew the Ladysmith from production when he learned that its primary users were dance hall performers and prostitutes. The revolver suffered from low sales as well as production problems associated with the multiplicity of small and delicate parts. There was also some degree of concern that many customers were shooting the .22 LR cartridge in the revolver instead of the Smith & Wesson round that closely resembled a .22 Long. From the onset, the small size of the .22 Hand Ejector made it a pain to produce. The First Model had a free-standing ejector with no front locking lug under the barrel. The familiar cylinder latch on the left side of the revolver frame accomplished the opening of the cylinder. The tiny cylinder latch assembly gave the assemblers fits and, in 1906, it was eliminated in favor of a locking bolt in a lug under the barrel - Second Model. Pulling forward on a knob in front of the locking lug unlocked the cylinder for loading. In 1910, after a total production of 13,875 units, the Third Model Perfected came into being. Barrel length options included 2.5", 3" and 6", and the round-butt with plastic grips gave way to a square Butt with checkered walnut panels. This model remained in production until 1921. This Third Model M-Frame Hand Ejector of 1902 "Ladysmith" (.22 Perfected) was made in circa 1919, and sports a 3" barrel, smooth walnut grips with S&W medallions, case hardened serrated trigger, case hardened serrated hammer, pinned front sight and 7-shot swing-out cylinder with front locking lug. This gun is in beautiful condition with no wear to speak of, number matching cylinder & frame, has an excellent sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order. (Comes with modern Uncle Mike's black nylon holster)

1952 Winchester, Model 71 Deluxe, 348 WCF, Lever-Action, SN - 33329

Lot # 73

The Winchester Model 71 lever-action rifle was made from 1935 to 1958, and is known as "the finest big bore lever gun that has ever been". It was primarily chambered for ...morethe .348 Winchester round--except for a very small number in .45-70 Government and .33 WCF. The Model 71 was conceived as a replacement for both the Model 1886 and Model 1895 as a complement to the Winchester Model 70 bolt-action rifle and to replace a raft of cartridges with just one--the .348 Winchester. Unfortunately, economics caused the rifle to be very expensive to produce, and with less costly lever action rifles available, it was ultimately deemed not cost effective for Winchester to produce & compete. The Model 71 was produced in only two primary variants: Standard and Deluxe, both in rifle versions with 24-inch barrels and carbines with 20-inch barrels and pistol grip stocks. The Deluxe had a checkered pistol grip and fore-end and detachable sling-swivel studs. The Standard had smooth wood and no factory sling swivel studs. This Model 71 Deluxe was made in 1952, and sports an outline checkered walnut stock with fluted comb, black grip cap, 24" barrel, high luster bluing, checkered metal buttplate, Marble's adjustable elevator rear sight, ramped dovetail front sight, sling-swivel studs and 4-round tubular magazine. This rifle is in nice condition with some light wear, has a sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order.

1971 Smith & Wesson, Model 41, 22 LR, Semi-Auto (W/ Box & Magazines), SN - A138923

Lot # 74

The Smith & Wesson Model 41 is a semi-automatic pistol developed after World War II as a competitive target pistol. It was designed with a 105 degree grip angle, the same...more as the Colt M1911 pistol to maintain a consistent grip angle. In July, 1947, two prototypes—numbered X-41 and X-42—were produced, tested, and improved for the next 10 years. In 1957, the Model 41 was made available to the public. The Model 41 was designed with National Pistol Matches in mind, which were very popular in the 1940s - 1960s. Barrels are honed and button-rifled for accuracy, and have a reputation for being the most accurate available for a handgun. In 1992, the Model 41 was dropped from production. In 1994, Smith & Wesson returned it to production as the Model 41 (New Model). This Model 41 was made in 1971, and sports a 7" barrel, polished blued-steel construction, adjustable rear sight, Patridge front sight, 1.5" ported muzzle brake, cocking indicator, checkered walnut grips with flared flat bottom & thumb rests, 12-groove front strap and cocking indicator. This gun comes in original box with (2) single-column 10-round detachable magazines, cleaning tools and paperwork. This gun is in beautiful condition with no wear to speak of, has an excellent sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order.
