Morris Mini Cooper Mk. I

Lot # 125 (Sale Order: 26 of 191)

This right hand drive Morris Mini Cooper Mk. I was dispatched new on 20th April 1967 to Loxham’s Garage, Preston, in Lancashire. Finished in Almond Green and Old English White, as confirmed by the Heritage Certificate, the previous owner completed a full restoration of this lovely Mini eventually getting the car back on the road in 2016. The history file includes many photographs of the work undertaken and shows a lot of care went into returning this Mini to its original specification. Open the bonnet and the matching numbers engine is displayed beautifully and detailed correctly, showing off the cars original slam panel – a desirable feature that often gets lost when restoring these early Minis. This stunning car has been imported back into the UK and now holds a UK V5c. Accompanying the car is a great history file which includes rafts of invoices and old MOT test certificates. Rarely do Minis of this quality come to market and this wonderful example would make a super addition to any classic car collection. ]]

Jaguar XJ8 3.2 V8

Lot # 126 (Sale Order: 27 of 191)

Jaguar XJ is the designation used for the series of luxury saloons sold under the British marque. The first XJ was launched in 1968 and the designation has been used for successive Jaguar flagship models ever since. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have had the input of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder. With the introduction of the X308 generation in 1997 came a switch from the 'XJ6' nomenclature to 'XJ8', reflecting the fact that the X308 cars were powered by a new V8 engine. The exterior styling of the X308 was similar to its predecessor the X300, with minor refinements such as a change to oval indicator lenses and round fog lights. The interior was also updated to eliminate the instrument binnacle used on the X300; instead, three large gauges were set into recesses in the walnut faced dashboard in front of the driver. The major mechanical change was the replacement of both the inline six and V12 engines with new eight cylinder V8 in either 3.2 litre or 4.0 litre versions. Manual transmission was not available with all X308 models supplied with a five-speed automatic gearbox. This stunning example is presented in white with cream leather interior which is in absolutely fantastic condition. The car comes with climate controlled air conditioning, electric front seats which are also heated for extra comfort and cruise control. Accompanying the car is a good history file. Please note that this car comes with a Japanese validation certificate verifying its mileage. This must be one of the best examples of the Jaguar XJ8 available today.]]

Range Rover Classic

Lot # 127 (Sale Order: 28 of 191)

The first generation Range Rover was produced between 1970 and 1996 and while certainly upmarket compared to preceding Land Rover models was not designed as a luxury type 4x4; the early Range Rovers had basic, utilitarian interiors with vinyl seats and plastic dashboards designed to be washed down with a hose. Features such as power-assisted steering, carpeted floors; air-conditioning, cloth/leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later. The Range Rover was a body-on-frame design with a box section ladder type chassis, similar to contemporary Land Rovers. The original Range Rover utilised coil springs as opposed to leaf springs, permanent four wheel drive and four wheel disc brakes and was originally powered by the Rover V8 engine. This very early four door was initially built in Solihull between 15th and 25th February 1982 and was despatched to Appleyard Farm Services Ltd, Ripon, Yorkshire, on 1st March. It was first registered on 11th November 1982 and is still on its original registration plate, all documented with accompanying BHIHT Heritage Certificate. Presented in Sahara Dust with Bronze Teddy Bear trim, the interior is completely original including rather unusually, the headlining. Having been Ziebart rust proofed from new, the condition is exceptional with the original Ziebart sticker still in the rear window. Recent maintenance includes new rear shock absorbers, exhaust, fuel pump, under bonnet soundproofing and OEM radiator and it was also fitted with a Fairey overdrive unit which is functioning correctly. Documentation accompanying the vehicle includes a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2019, correspondence from BL Cars Limited regarding the Supercover warranty, sales brochure, original handbook, radio instructions, and sales invoice from the Land Rover Centre Huddersfield, in 2006, showing 38,771 miles, plus supporting MoT test history to verify the current mileage of 57,600. One of the best examples we have come across and certainly worthy of the 'Classic' badge.]]

Rover Mini Seven

Lot # 128 (Sale Order: 29 of 191)

The 1956 Suez Crisis saw fuel rationing reintroduced in the United Kingdom. This resulted in the slowdown in sales of large fuel thirsty vehicles. Leonard Lord, the head of the British Motor Corporation, laid down some basic design requirements for a smaller more efficient vehicle. The rest as they say is history. The automotive designer Alec Issigonis created the Mini, possibly the most recognisable British car of all time. Since its launch in August of 1959 the Mini has seen a variety of developments, including a new manufacturer but has remained in production to this day. This 2001 Mini Seven is one of the last produced under the ownership of Rover. Presented in bright red with cream and red seats and colour coded red dashboard, the retro look of this Mini is enhanced with pepper pot alloys, chrome grille and bumpers. This stunning Mini is described by the vendor as being in excellent condition inside, outside and mechanically, perhaps not surprising from a car with such low mileage. The car is presented to auction with a V5C registration document, a full service history and a large history file containing bills and receipts. In keeping with its tremendous condition this car has an MoT valid until May 2019.This attractive and low mileage example represents and affordable way to enjoy a modern classic.]]

Renault 5TX Cleveland Convertible

Lot # 129 (Sale Order: 30 of 191)

The Renault 5 was launched onto the right hand drive UK market in the autumn of 1972, where, alongside the recently launched Fiat 127, it competed as an imported but more modern alternative to British Leyland's Mini and Chrysler Europe's Hillman Imp. The 5 narrowly missed out on the 1973 European Car of the Year award, which was instead given to the Audi 80. The R5 borrowed mechanicals from the similarly popular Renault 4, using a longitudinally-mounted engine driving the front wheels with torsion bar suspension. OHV engines were borrowed from the Renault 4 and larger Renault 8; there was a choice, at launch, between 782cc and 956cc according to price level. The 5TS and 5LS both with the 1,289cc engine from the Renault 12 was added from April 1974. As on the Renault 4, entry level Renault 5’s had their engine sizes increased to 845cc in 1976 and at the top of the range later models had the engine sizes expanded to 1,397cc. The Renault 5 went on to enjoy cult status when the turbo and rear engine Group B derived Maxi cars were introduced. The car offered on sale here is an incredibly rare convertible R5 TX, believed to be a Cleveland conversion. Renault never produced a convertible R5 themselves but Cleveland offered the service and later in 1989 the Belgium firm EBS. The Clevelandbodywork incorporates a sturdy roll-over bar and chassis strengthening members. All exposed metal areas were fully treated and rust proofed before final assembly. The opening boot, combined with folding rear seats, provided access to a generous luggage space. The rear parcel shelf facilitates the neat stowage of the hood and provides extra space when the hood is raised. It can be raised and lowered by one person in just a few moments. This car has benefitted from a recent bare metal respray in its attractive metallic blue. The interior is in incredible condition for a car of its age and shows little sign of wear. The TX models were the top specification for the R5 range; including power steering, electric windows and alloy wheels. Having covered 75,000 miles this car offers a unique opportunity to acquire a truly rare car and one you would be lucky to see another example of. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document, MoT test certificate that expires in December 2018 and unique A100 OVJ number plate.  ]]

Mercedes-Benz E320 Sportline Cabriolet

Lot # 131 (Sale Order: 32 of 191)

The debut vehicle for this line was the 300 CE-24 Cabriolet, built until 1993 until it was succeeded by the E320 Cabriolet which became a classic in its own right. What is more, it had the potential to become a genuine piece of automotive history since its production period was relatively brief and numbers built were relatively low. The design stems from their four-door counterparts with modern features such as the eccentric sweep panoramic windscreen wiper, independent suspension and highly advanced safety systems. These were also disguised roll-over hoops in the event of an accident. If unextended, they automatically deployed in 0.3 seconds if sensors detected an 'unusual angle of attack'. The convertible roof stowed away under a rear panel leaving nothing above the body to disturb the cabriolet form. This 1996 Mercedes-Benz E320 Sportline Cabriolet was the dealer demonstrator for Jacksons of Guernsey. After being sold it remained in the same family ownership until 2016 when it was imported to the UK. This example is fully loaded with all the extras including air-conditioning, electric steering column, wood/leather steering wheel, ARS, cruise control and electric heated seats. It has only covered 62,000 miles from new which is confirmed with a full Mercedes-Benz service history with the last service being carried out in January 2016. Finished in black with black roof and grey leather interior, this E320 is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in May 2019, the handbook pack which includes all the manuals which were supplied when the car was new and a file of invoices dating back to 2002. This desirable Sportline model is a delight to drive and has the flexibility of being a very useable, everyday convertible. Back in 2006, 'Honest John', an impartial and highly experienced motoring journalist, described this model as 'a beautiful and appreciating classic.']]

Rover P5B Saloon

Lot # 132 (Sale Order: 33 of 191)

In 1965, Rover's Managing Director, William Martin-Hurst, secured the tooling and production rights to the '215' V8 engine from Buick. Rover redeveloped the engine and launched it at the end of 1967 which, along with some other modifications, transformed their already highly regarded and successful P5 flagship into the P5B. The new aluminium V8 was significantly lighter and considerably more powerful than its predecessor, delivering 160bhp and a massive leap in torque to 210lb per ft at 2600rpm, vastly improving pace, comfort, balance, handling, economy and reliability. Rover's only gearbox capable of handling such power was the Borg Warner Type-35 automatic. Rover now possessed a formidable sporting saloon to take on the finest from Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar. Solihull production soon doubled to keep up with orders; however the creation of British Leyland in 1968 had the long term effect of thwarting Rover’s impressive growth and image-building. A strategic decision was taken to market Jaguar, now sitting alongside Rover in the British Leyland stable, to the luxury audience. The impressive V8 engine flourished for decades afterwards within the Rover, Land Rover and Range Rover stable, as well as other marques such as TVR, Morgan and MG.Originally registered on 1st August 1969, this car was purchased by a Mr Freeman in Leicester, who ordered it in Bordeaux Red with Ebony Black leather. Mr Freeman owned and used SUT 154H sparingly from new until he passed away in 1985, whereupon his daughter had the car stored until selling it to the current owner Mr Oxley in Derbyshire in 1986. Due to an exceptional level of care, having been stored correctly and owned by Rover enthusiasts, the car has covered just 10,424 miles from new and the original factory panel work remains in extremely good order; indeed the doors shut like a new car. The car is accompanied by the original book pack, a V5C registration document, full complement of tools, old MOT’s and a current MoT test certificate valid until August 2018.Used by government ministers and royalty on a regular basis, these quintessentially British Rovers are supremely comfortable to drive with a simple and uncluttered instrument layout where virtually everything is at your finger tips. This example is a genuine time-warp example and we would doubt a more original car is available in such condition. This represents a unique opportunity for any collector and viewing is strongly recommended.]]

Porsche 911 / 993 Carrera 2

Lot # 133 (Sale Order: 34 of 191)

The Porsche 993 was introduced in 1994 as a replacement for the 964 generation of the iconic 911 models and was built until 1998. Regarded by many as the best generation of 911's ever produced from Stuttgart, this car was the last to use the air cooled flat six engine that had powered 911's for the previous thirty years. The 993 was offered in a number of guises and specifications during its production life including two and four-wheel drive trains, known as Carrera and Carrera 4 respectively. With the 993 representing the ultimate development of the legendary air cooled flat six Porsche engine, this beautifully presented and well documented first year 3.2 litre Tiptronic car offers excellent value for money and a rare opportunity. It is hard to believe that this car has covered 116,000 miles as the exterior paintwork gleams and the interior shows little sign of wear, even the engine compartment is clean and well presented; although having had a £6,000 re-build in 2004 at around 85,000 miles, this is hardly a surprise. The engine fires up on first attempt, runs smoothly and the Tiptronic gearbox works well. If the car had not been subject to a Cat C repair around 2002 it would be estimated 30%-40% higher. As such, this 993 offers accessibility to a market many enthusiasts are priced out of. This lovely Carrera 2 offers entry to the 911 club at 944 turbo prices. It also benefits from upgraded Bilstein shocks at a cost of nearly £2000 and 18-inch Porsche wheels. Any lingering doubts are quickly dispersed upon inspection of the car itself and its impressive history file. The car is supplied with V5C registration document, MoT test certificate, private number plate, many receipts, two keys, the owners pack and manuals.  ]]

Lot # 134 (Sale Order: 35 of 191)

In 1961, Citroën began work on 'Project S', a sports variant of the revolutionary Citroën DS. As was customary for the firm, many running concept vehicles were developed, increasingly complex and upmarket from the DS. Citroën purchased Maserati in 1968 with the intention of harnessing Maserati's high-performance V6 engine technology to produce a true Gran Turismo car combining the sophisticated Citroën suspension. The result was the Citroën SM, this was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1970 and went on sale in France in September of that year. Factory produced cars were all left hand drive, although right hand conversions were supplied to the UK and Australia. The origin of the model name 'SM' is not completely clear. The 'S' may derive from the 'Project S' designation and the 'M' perhaps refers to Maserati, hence SM is often assumed to stand for 'Systeme Maserati' or 'Sports Maserati'. Another common alternative is 'Série Maserati' but others have suggested it is short for 'Sa Majesté' (Her Majesty in French) which aligns with the common DS model's nickname 'La Déesse' (The Goddess) This lovely French delivered European specification model is presented in grey with its original tobacco coloured leather interior still in excellent condition according to the owner. This wonderful model comes with five speed transmission and has the desirable factory fitted Continental Edison radio, rear seat belts and passenger door mirror. A recent major overhaul at marque specialists Brodie Engineering included an SS valve conversion, new head gaskets, new chains and new oil cooler pipes. It also had an electronic ignition upgrade, new coils and new Michelin tyres. The general finish of the external trim, glass and lights are exceptionally sharp for the model considering its age. The car is presented with the owner’s handbook, servicing book, radio instruction manual and full toolkit. These iconic French sports saloons are truly as retro today as they were in 1971 and with its exciting styling and performance to match, this is a wonderful example not to be missed.]]

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I

Lot # 135 (Sale Order: 36 of 191)

The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a luxury saloon car built from 1965 to 1980. It was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using a monocoque chassis, and to date has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. Aside from a more modern appearance and construction, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes instead of drum brakes, and independent rear suspension rather than the ageing live axle design of previous cars. The Silver Shadow featured a 172bhp 6.2 litre V8 from 1965-69, and an 189bhp 6.75 litre V8 from 1970. Both engines were mated to a Turbo Hydromantic 400 transmission which came from General Motors except on pre-1970 right hand drive models which used the same 4-speed automatic gearbox as the Silver Cloud, also a General Motors unit. The superb ride quality achieved in the Shadow was thanks to the innovative high-pressure hydraulic system with dual-circuit braking and hydraulic self-levelling suspension. Originally registered on 6th January 1970, this Rolls-Royce is finished in white with burgundy leather interior. Starting on the button when requested, this Silver Shadow drives well. Recent work included a new water pump and oil and filter change. These chrome bumper models are becoming increasingly rare and attract admiring glances wherever driven. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with an MoT test certificate valid until 17th May 2019 and a comprehensive history folder, this car is offered for sale without reserve.  ]]

Chevrolet Camaro S/S (350ci)

Lot # 136 (Sale Order: 37 of 191)

The truly outstanding vehicle offered here is an original, all numbers matching 350ci, four-speed manual Camaro, built in the GM factory in Antwerp, Belgium. It was picked from the production line by a senior manager to be his private vehicle, and he had the engine blue-printed and balanced before it was then put into the car. The car has enjoyed periods of long ownership including the owner prior to our vendor who kept the vehicle for 15 years after eventually negotiating a sale with his close friend who owned the car for the 18 years prior to that. It has been subject to one of the most comprehensive restorations we have seen with over 800 hours in the bodywork and paint alone. Presented in the correct Chevrolet Granada Gold with the black sides, a tribute to famed Chevrolet driver Smokey Yunick who raced in these colours, the car had covered just 37,000 miles from new and with the engine an original matching numbers item, it has had a full rebuild with a Weiand manifold and Holley Avenger carburettor. The numbers matching four-speed Muncie gearbox has also been completely rebuilt and draws its power from the engine via the original skimmed flywheel and new clutch assembly. The rear axle is the original factory installed 12 bolt positraction unit also with the correct code stamps. The front suspension clip and body shell, which sits on new 17" five-spoke wheels and tyres, are stamped with the correct numbers, the factory Gold 'deluxe' interior is described as perfect and the power assisted brakes are completely refurbished. The master cylinder is new, the front calipers have been re-sleeved in stainless steel and all pipe work is also new. With a new stainless steel exhaust system, all new factory correct suspension, rebuilt power steering and new factory correct wiring, the front clip was sand blasted, painted and rebuilt using factory correct bushes and parts. This is a very exciting car to drive, the power steering and brakes combined with the power of the engine make it a real treat and with just 1000 miles since the 'money-no-object' restoration, it can certainly be considered one of the best examples available.]]

Ferrari 308 GTS QV

Lot # 137 (Sale Order: 38 of 191)

The 308 GTB was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1975, it was built alongside the 308 GT4 and designed as a replacement for the 246 Dino. Designed by Leonardo Fiorvanti, the man who styled some of the most iconic Ferrari's including the Daytona. The new 308 sported a rakish and attractive body which fused classic elements of Ferrari styling with a thoroughly modern design. For the first two years of production, the body of the 308 was produced in fibreglass after which steel was used. The 308 shared a similar tube frame chassis as the original Dino and 308GT4 with four-wheel double wishbone independent suspension. The engine was a V8 unit which was positioned behind the driver and transversely mounted with double overhead camshafts and four 40DCNF Weber carburettors, later replaced with Bosch K Jetronic mechanical fuel injection. At the 1982 Paris Motor Show, Ferrari launched the 308 Quattrovalvole, in GTB and GTS form. The main change from the 308 GTBi/GTSi it succeeded, were the four valves per cylinder which pushed output back up to 240hp restoring some of the performance lost to the emission control equipment. The interior also received some minor updates such as a satin black three spoke steering wheel with triangular centre; cloth seat centres became available as an option to the standard full leather. This left hand drive 308 GTS Quattrovalvole, presented in Rosso Corsa with Nero leather interior, has recently been the subject to having over £24,000 spent on it by marque specialists QV London and Joe Macari. This work included rebuilding the gearbox, new clutch, carrying out a full engine service including cambelts, new H/T leads and new sub frame mounts. The brakes have been fully overhauled, the radiator was removed and reconditioned and new tyres were fitted. At the same time, the under fairing and rear bumper was repaired and repainted. This 308 GTS QV is supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2019 together with copies of the invoices for the recent work carried out. The GTS is the popular choice due to the Targa roof which, when removed, provides the occupants with the thrill of open top motoring at high speed whilst listening to the howl of the Ferrari V8 engine.]]

Porsche 911 Turbo

Lot # 138 (Sale Order: 39 of 191)

The Porsche 997 is the most recent variant of the ubiquitous 911, the 997 being the factory type number for the car. The car was released in July 2004, and was tasked with bringing the 911 concept into the 21st Century, featuring many key revisions over the outgoing 996. The turbocharged version of the 997 series featured the same 3.6 litre twin turbocharged engine as the 996 Turbo. It has VTG (variable turbine geometry), that combines the low-rev boost and quick responses of a small turbocharger with the high-rev power of a larger turbocharger. It also offers higher fuel efficiency compared to the 996 Turbo. The 997 Turbo features a new all wheel drive system, similar to the one found on the Porsche Cayenne. This 997 Gen II, 3.8 Turbo looks impressive in metallic grey with a black leather interior. The multi-spoked alloys are set off well by the big red Porsche brake calipers. The car has a comprehensive service history with a service book showing five Porsche main dealer stamps. The last service being completed at Porsche Silverstone on 16th August 2017 at 51,320 miles. Presented to auction with a V5C registration certificate and an MoT test certificate valid until March 2019. It has been brought to our attention the delightful coincidence that this 997 has a chassis number ending in 997. It is not difficult to see why the 997 model received mostly positive reviews from the motoring press. Even Porsche detractor Jeremy Clarkson noted that the 997 will 'make love to your fingertips and stir your soul’.]]

Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 Coupé (4.2 litre)

Lot # 139 (Sale Order: 40 of 191)

The Jaguar E-Type was manufactured between 1961 and 1975 and its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960's motoring. The Series I was introduced, initially for export only in March 1961, the cars at this time used the triple SU carburetted, 3.8 litre six cylinder XK engine from the XK150S. The 3.8 litre engine was increased to 4.2 litres in October 1964, although there was never a fixed specification for this unofficial model, the Series I½, can be recognised by glass covered headlights, small 'mouth' opening at the front, signal and tail lights above the bumpers and exhaust tips under the number plate in the rear. The 4.2 litre engine offered increased power and usability whilst retaining the same outward appearance as the earlier cars. This rare Jaguar is one of 974 right hand drive Series I 2+2 coupés ever made. This beauty from Coventry had a full body refurbishment with Andy Marshall of Mansfield in 2015 and presents stunningly in red. The original interior is in good order and shows a lovely patina. We are informed by the vendor that this E-Type runs well and sounds wonderful. This car benefits from uprated Fossway brakes with vented discs. This attractive car is presented to auction with a V5C registration certificate.]]

Durant Runabout Star Four Tourer

Lot # 140 (Sale Order: 41 of 191)

Having been forced out of General Motors – a company he founded – William C Durant began rebuilding his automotive empire, incorporating Durant Motors in New York in January 1921. Competing with the mid-priced Chevrolet, the company's first product was the 35hp four-cylinder Model A, which was joined the following year by the 70hp six-cylinder B-22. Built in the former Sheridan plant at Muncie, Indiana and powered by an Ansted engine, the B-22 was catalogued for just three years (1922-1924) and today survivors are rare. In 1922, Durant introduced the Star, intended as competition for the Ford Model T, and later that year acquired the bankrupt Locomobile, which gained him entry into the luxury car market sector. Following the General Motors policy of offering cars in every price bracket, Durant continued to expand, introducing the Chrysler-competitor Flint in 1923 and establishing the Mason Truck Company. Like many of his contemporaries, Durant was crippled by the Wall Street Crash of October 1929. Production plummeted and despite receiving approximately $90 million of its owner's own money, Durant Motors was gone by 1933. This Durant Runabout has had an interesting life having been converted to a pick-up at some stage; she was then re-bodied into the Tourer format we see today. This right hand drive Durant has VSCC documents and is eligible for hills climbs which the vendor has used her for. These two-seaters with a Dickie seat are great cars and quite versatile, hence the popularity in using them for eligible events. We are advised by the vendor she runs well with no known faults and is supplied with a V5C registration document.  ]]

1996 BMW Alpina B10 V8S

Lot # 140a (Sale Order: 42 of 191)

Interested parties should note that this vehicle has been incorrectly described in the catalogue and is a BMW 540i with an Alpina body kit and not a BMW B10 V8S as originally described.
The B10 was built as a saloon and touring based on the BMW E39 from January 1997 to May 2004 with the third generation of the B10 build with both six-cylinder and V8 engines. The six-cylinder engines with 3.2 and 3.3 litre were based on the 528i and 530i. For the two V8 engines with 4.6 litre (B10 V8) and the 4.8 litre (B10 V8S) engines came from the BMW 540i.Larger displacement was achieved by boring the engine block, which, together with other modifications increased the power to 347bhp for the 4.6 litre V8 and 375 bhp through an increased stroke with the 4.8litre engine. This B10 V8S is presented in silver with contrasting full black leather interior, in 2010 this rare Alpina was subject to a category D insurance loss however the car has now been repaired to a good standard and we are told has been previously owned by a BMW employee. One of just 88 B10 V8S examples produced this can be considered very collectable and boasts the 19" Alpina multi-spoke alloys and fully electric front seats with driver memory to name but a few extras. Produced in such small numbers this is sure to be a popular car with both collectors and BMW enthusiasts alike.

Aston Martin DB9 Coupé

Lot # 141 (Sale Order: 43 of 191)

The sleek superformed aluminium body of the DB9 was initially designed by Ian Callum but had also been significantly influenced by the next director of AM design, Hendrik Fisker. It was powered by a third generation version of the now familiar six-litre, V12 and has a top speed of 186mph. The DB9 was the first of what was to become a long line of production Aston Martins to use VH architecture; using superformed parts in the chassis and footwell as well as the body panels. The individual die-cast, extruded or stamped aluminium elements of the VH platform are bonded with strong adhesives and self-piercing rivets to make a lightweight but stiff backbone. The DB9 body shell weighed 25% less than that of the DB7 but has double its torsional rigidity. This process also allowed Aston Martin to retain high levels of engineering accuracy in producing a car at a higher volume, ensuring chassis performance to match the engine power. Aston Martins have always made the interior of their cars to be very special places. The fine detail of finishing is typified by the starter button made of glass and sand etched with the Aston Martin wings logo.  Originally registered on 23rd September 2004, this handsome Aston Martin is in the splendid colour combination of Chiltern Green with light Stone leather interior. A comprehensive service history accompanies this DB9, the last service carried out some 2,000 miles ago. The interior of an Aston Martin is an area of beauty synonymous with such a prestigious marque, this example is no exception with ample walnut and leather. Benefitting from satellite navigation, parking sensors and tyre pressure monitors, this Aston Martin is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 26th April 2019. A true classic with exhilarating performance and with only 32,850 miles on the clock. ]]

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II

Lot # 142 (Sale Order: 44 of 191)

The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was released to the public in October 1965. This new model was ten years in development and the new series was characterised by surprisingly modern features. Rolls-Royce broke new ground and broke away from many sacred design principles. Under the bonnet, the V8 engine that had been introduced in the Silver Cloud series was employed. In February 1977, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II was introduced. Outwardly, the models were identifiable by bumpers with rubber inserts and edges made from polyurethane. The most notable mechanical changes were to the rack and pinion steering, there was also modifications to the front suspension which improved handling markedly. The car had been subjected to extensive wind tunnel testing, the result of which created a car with much better stability at high speed.Delivered new to Howells of Cardiff on 1st May 1978, this example comes with a full service history and includes £11,000 of bills since 2013. The car is offered complete with original service book showing 32 service stamps, many MOTs and the leather-bound folder full of receipts. The vendor has recently spent around £3,000 bringing the car up to daily driver standard and has recently conducted a 300 mile round trip without fault, reporting that the car comfortably sits at 70mph on the motorway.Works carried out in 2017 include rebuilding of rear drive shafts, attention to brakes and rear suspension and it was last serviced on 10th February 2017; some 1,800 miles ago. The speedometer was documented as replaced in 1987 at 13,194 miles with the current reading at 49,500. Total mileage for the car is some 62,694 miles, but this will increase a little as it is used daily and will be driven from our vendor’s house near Swansea to the auction.Having owned a Silver Shadow for a number of years, the vendor, an RREC member, describes the car as follows: “Apart from one small dent on the driver’s chrome sill strip, there are no dents or dings to the panels although the front and rear screens rubbers will need replacing at some stage. There are no warning lights at all, the radio and aerial work, the windows go up rapidly from all buttons although the air-con doesn’t work and a new compressor may be needed. The dashboard will need relacquering and should the new buyer care much for the boot, the boot carpets could be described as past their best.” In recent years the Shadow II has been known as the raffish choice of motorcar for the stylish lady or gentleman about town. Recent auction results show that eminently drivable luxury cars of this era are currently in vogue. The mileage and history file of this car will always carry a premium. Accompanied by two keys and an MOT valid until May 2019 with no advisories, this is a desirable Shadow II.]]
The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was released to the public in October 1965. This new model was ten years in development and the new series was characterised by surprisingly...more modern features. Ferrari 400i 2+2 Coupé

Lot # 143 (Sale Order: 45 of 191)

These magnificent twelve-cylinder Ferraris have enjoyed cult status for some years now and the angular Pininfarina design was the motivating factor behind this front engined masterpiece. The design was derived from the almost identical looking 365 GT4 2+2 which, itself, was based on the legendary Daytona. Production began in 1976 when Ferrari revealed its first car fitted with an automatic transmission, the 400, at the Paris Motorshow of 1976. The gearbox was a three-speed Borg Warner unit from the General Motors parts bin, reliable and certainly able to take the prodigious amount of power available. The injection version followed with Bosch K-Jetronics under the bonnet. The interior was lavishly appointed with rich leather, fine wood and high-end carpet and, together with the long-legged gearing and engine, made for excellent long distance touring. Today, its sleek lines and relatively limited production numbers have made good examples very collectable commodities. This very original, rust free, left hand drive 1981 Ferrari 400i 2+2 Coupé was supplied new with the automatic transmission to the USA where it remained until being imported to the UK in 2016 and put into a private collection. Since arriving here, the car has had a full service and the interior re-connolized. Finished in black with beige leather interior, this Ferrari 400i is supplied with a V5C registration document and a MoT test certificate which expires in February 2019. The Ferrari 400i is the ultimate continental cruiser of its time, the Ferrari badge with a level of luxury and comfort that could only be found in the very top British marques of the time.]]

Mercedes-Benz SL 420 Roadster

Lot # 144 (Sale Order: 46 of 191)

When Mercedes-Benz redesigned its famed SL in 1971, there was a lot of equity behind it – after all, when the incomparable 300SL Coupé and Roadster were built fewer than 20 years before, they set the world on fire. The next generation 230/250/280SL in 1963 brought Mercedes' sports car down to earth, replacing both the incredible 300SL and four-cylinder 190SL. For the next SL, Mercedes started with the chassis of the mid-size W114/115 model and added the motors from the large W116 S-Class. The result was a luxurious V8 Convertible that ended up being the longest passenger car series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz to date. The car remained a prized automotive status symbol and an iconic part of the brand's lineup.   This Mercedes-Benz SL was originally registered on 1st August 1989 and presents very well all round. Supplied to the current owner by the SL shop of Stratford-upon-Avon, the white coachwork of this Mercedes-Benz is in good order as is the hood and the black leather trim. This model is also supplied with a hardtop. We are advised she drives well and the 4196cc, V8 engine operates smoothly and effectively; this is a very refined power unit. Supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate until May 2019, this R107 420 SL is a perfect vehicle for the summer months ahead.]]

Alfa Romeo 1300 Junior Round Tail Spider

Lot # 145 (Sale Order: 47 of 191)

The ancestry of the Alfa Romeo Duetto started with the Pininfarina designed Spider Speciale Aerodynamica shown at the 1961 Turin Motor Show. Concept to production took a little longer in those days so the Duetto only came into fruition in 1966. Initially it was not well received and quickly earned the nickname 'Osso di Seppoa' (cuttlefish). The name 'Duetto' came about from a competition held by Alfa Romeo to distinguish the car from its Giulia 105 Series stable mates, the Coupé and Berlina, and was accepted for its reference to the two seat layout. Offered here is a lovely boat-tail example, presented in the desirable Alfa Romeo red paint with black interior in equally good condition; it has clearly been cherished over its life and especially by its current owner for the past 12 years. In 1990 the car was subject to a ground up restoration with well known Alfa Romeo 'guru' Peter West from Westune, well documented in the history file which also contains a comprehensive collection of invoices and receipts for ongoing care thereafter. Our vendor has removed the dynamo and fitted an alternator for ease of use and recent new parts include a new exhaust, front brake discs and pads, speedo cable and brake hoses with the works undertaken by auto specialists K7L or his trusted local garage. Our vendor, who has cherished the car, tells us that he has only ever used BGH 57H in the dry and is selling with a heavy heart. We are advised that the hood is in excellent condition and the car has a recently obtained MoT valid until March 2019. A pretty and iconic Alfa Duetto in the very best colour combination having been cared for by its current private owner for the past 12 years; we believe this is a gem for any potential new owner and is sure to attract a lot of attention this summer.]]

Jaguar XKR

Lot # 146 (Sale Order: 48 of 191)

Sitting at the top of the Jaguar performance range in 2006 was the thunderous second generation XKR, the supercharged version of the standard XK.  A very special car with stunning performance, great muscular looks and an elegant interior, the XKR is right up there with the best, a car with true presence and performance. Much of that feel comes from the superb, incredibly refined interior with its high quality craftmanship and stylish design which also translates to the rest of the car. Power comes from a supercharged 4.2-litre V8 engine which produces an impressive 420bhp and can carry the XKR to a top speed of 174mph and 0-60mph time coming in at 4.9 seconds. A wire front grille mesh, red exterior emblems, quad exhausts and subtle rear spoiler all indicate it to be an XKR. This beautiful Midnight metallic black, first year of production, XKR Convertible with Ivory interior was ordered new by the vendor as a retirement present to himself after a long career as Chief Executive for a major national property company. Among the comprehensive paperwork still remains the vehicle order sheet which reveals several expensive optional extras on top of the already generous standard specification package, which included sat-nav, active headlights, front parking aids, premium sound package, 20-inch Senta alloy wheels, luxury weave convertible hood and tracker were all fitted. With six service stamps in the car’s service book, all of which were done at Guy Salmon in Thames Ditton, all show that since its initial three year service in 2009 this car has been serviced every year regardless of mileage. In fact over the past four years the car has covered only around 6,500 miles. This fastidious owner has never let the car want for anything and has had any issues dealt with immediately by the main dealer. Whilst it may be possible to find a lower mileage example, it would be near impossible to find one that has been cared for as well as this and with such high specification. The car is supplied with a full main dealership service history, service log book, V5C registration document, MoT test certificate that expires in November 2018, private number plate, many receipts, two keys, owners pack and manuals.  ]]

MG B Roadster

Lot # 147 (Sale Order: 49 of 191)

Conceived in the late 1950s and launched in 1962, the MGB would turn out to be one of the most successful sports cars of all time. Attractively styled, cheap to run and easily maintained by the home mechanic, the 'B' carried on MG's traditional role of providing affordable, sports car motoring for the ordinary enthusiast. The MGB was mechanically similar to the preceding MGA, though with heavier, unitary construction bodyshell. To compensate for the newcomer's increased weight, the existing B-Series engine was stretched from 1622 to 1798cc, while the MGB's aerodynamically efficient lines made the most of the maximum available 95bhp to achieve a top speed which just topped the magic 'ton'. A 'right first time' design that changed little over the years apart from the adoption of a more robust five-main-bearing engine in 1965 (fitted from the start of GT production that autumn) a minor facelift for 1970 and the adoption of plastic bumpers (to comply with US legislation) for 1975, the 'B' enjoyed an 18-year production life and sales totalling in excess of 500,000 cars. Its popularity remaining undiminished today, the classic MGB is one of the easiest sports cars of its era to run and maintain in the 21st Century, being served by a worldwide industry of spare parts and service providers. A desirable chromed bumper model, this particular 'B' roadster has had just three owners from new; the last being a private collector who purchased the car a couple of years ago and the first owner, we are told, bought the car as a wedding anniversary gift for his wife. Subsequently consigned to barn storage, it was fully restored to mint condition by a family friend between 2007 and 2009, with further works undertaken in 2015. Finished in black with red leather trim, noteworthy features include original restored Jaeger instruments, original Bakelite steering wheel and 'bullet' wing mirrors. This MG B Roadster is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in February 2019 and sundry other restoration invoices. 'APO 677B' has covered only some 5,000 miles since restoration and is described as a pleasure to drive. The MG B represents fabulous value in today's market and enjoys excellent club support, specialist services and parts back up; a motor car just awaiting a new owner to enjoy forthcoming summers.]]

Rover P6 3500 V8

Lot # 148 (Sale Order: 50 of 191)

The P6 model was launched at the 1963 Earls Court motor show and set new standards in refinement, performance and handling. Just one year later the Rover P6 was voted car of the year and later received the design council award for new standards in safety. 1968 saw the addition of the V8 model which proved popular with executives and the police alike who required a modern high performance quality car. In recent years the P6 V8 had been relatively unappreciated, however, this beautiful and very original time-warp example is sure to change that. First registered in June of 1971 this car was sold to accountant Mr Edgar Morris of Bootle in Liverpool. On appraisal he decided the car was too expensive to run on a day to day basis and thus decided to keep it for high days and holidays. He kept the car with its private plate EM 9999 for 25 years until he passed away and the car was sold to a family friend and long time admirer, having covered just 3,200 miles. The friend covered a mere 124 miles more in the next eight years, predominantly garaging the car and keeping it under cover. In 2004 the car was purchased and recommissioned, with the owner stating that everything was original. Finished in fabulous Davos White with Sandalwood trim, the car has not changed a great deal over the last 14 years and strikes you as possibly the best P6 you will ever find. All chrome, rubber and paintwork are exemplary, as is, understandably, the underside of the car. The door-shuts are very good and, we are informed, the engine performs very well. Offered with an MoT test certificate until May 2019, book pack and details of previous owners, we are confident this example will stand up to any inspection and therefore viewing is highly recommended.]]
