Mercedes-Benz 220 S Ponton

Lot # 302 (Sale Order: 101 of 153)

The Mercedes-Benz 220A was succeeded in March 1956 by the 220S saloon which was externally almost identical but had an upgraded version of the six cylinder, 2195cc engine giving 99hp which was later increased to 106hp due to the use of twin carburettors. Introduced in 1956, the 220 S saloon was one of a trio of new models featuring unitary construction bodyshells employing large, box-section side members; hence the term 'Ponton'; the others being the 190 and 219. All round coil-sprung independent suspension had long been a fixture of the Mercedes-Benz range and that of the newcomers benefitted from the newly developed single pivot rear swing axle. Short-wheelbase coupé and cabriolet versions of the 220 S soon followed. Visually, the 220 S featured a new one piece front bumper instead of the three-piece bumper used on the 220A. Also, the twin chrome and rubber strips running under the doors of the 220a were replaced with solid chrome strips. Originally delivered new to Australia, land of the points-based immigration system, it appears to have spent the majority of its life in Glen Iris, Victoria before being acquired by the current owner in the UK in 2015. This is backed up by a Daimler/Benz Homologation document. HM Revenue & Customs documents also exist and confirm that full UK VAT and import duties have been paid; it also comes with an MoT test certificate valid until March 2017. Presented in black with a blue velveteen interior, the external condition appears sound although, as you would expect, some paint-based imperfections exist. The interior is also straight with the dash veneers untouched by the usual de-lamination. It started promptly and settled to an even idle and I am assured that the driving experience is good. A charming and very cost-effective family classic.

*Withdrawn* Bentley Continental R by Mulliner Park Ward

Lot # 303 (Sale Order: 102 of 153)

From its motor car production in 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury.  The 'Continental' designation recalls the Bentley Continental of the post-war period.  The 'R' was meant to recall the R-Type Bentleys from the 1950s as well as the Turbo R of the 1980s.  This series boasts the most powerful engine after the Continental T and has a power output of 420bhp and a maximum torque of 650 ft-lb.  The car could be pushed to a staggering top speed of some 170mph. Bentley's 1980s resurgence relied exclusively on models whose basic architecture was shared with other Rolls-Royce models however; the Bentley Continental R was unique to the Bentley marque.  Despite the need to incorporate non-traditional features such as doors recessed into the roof, the result looked every bit a Bentley, albeit one re-stated for the 1990s and beyond. This wide-bodied Continental R is finished in Silver Tempest with St. James interior and could only be described as a superb vehicle in every aspect. The coachwork shows no sign of any blemishes and the interior is in superb order, the leather being complimented by black carpets and top roll, the walnut dashboard adding the final touches to this sumptuous interior. The Bentley has been very well looked after, having covered a mere 16,720 miles since its registration 17 years ago. Aesthetically, a Continental R is a beautiful design but this example is further enhanced by the fitment of a chrome radiator grille and wide-body courtesy of Mulliner Park Ward, in addition to this the fitment of front wing vents and Continental T wheels. Supplied originally by Jack Barclay in London, this Bentley comes with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate, this represents excellent value in comparison to the price it was when new. To drive a Continental R is a memorable experience; this car represents an opportunity to acquire an extremely fine example of a superb motorcar.

Rolls-Royce Phantom

Lot # 304 (Sale Order: 103 of 153)

An historic model in the continuing history of the Rolls-Royce marque, the Phantom was the first all-new design to be introduced by the company following its takeover by BMW. Produced at a new factory near Goodwood in Sussex, the Phantom revived a great name from Rolls-Royce's past that had always been synonymous with unrestrained luxury. In keeping with the tradition established by previous Phantoms, the newcomer was a very large motor car, outstretching the old Silver Seraph (the last Crewe-built Rolls-Royce) by 18" while boasting a radiator shell 4" taller. Priced at around £260,000 at time of launch, it was also 40% more expensive. At 140", the new car's wheelbase was only fractionally shorter than that of the superseded Phantom VI that had ceased production in the 1990s; gone however, was the old pushrod V8 engine, its place being taken by an all-new 48-valve, V12 of 6.7 litres capacity. Despite being normally aspirated, the latter produced 460bhp, comfortably exceeding the old engine's maximum when turbo-charged, albeit at a high 5,300 revolutions. This abundance of power was transmitted to the rear axle via a six-speed automatic gearbox while air-sprung suspension and automatic level control ensured that ride quality remained uncompromised. A top speed of 149mph put the 2½-ton Phantom within sight of the supercar league, though models destined for North America were electronically limited to 130mph. While the body structure represented the ultimate in automotive technology, its accoutrements remained entirely traditional in choice of materials, consisting of the finest hide trim, genuine woollen carpets and carefully selected wood veneers. Certain dashboard features recalled those of earlier models, while there was a choice of five-seater 'Lounge' or four-seater 'Theatre' accommodation.   This excellent righthand drive Rolls-Royce Phantom with the 'lounge' five seat configuration was supplied new to Singapore in 2005 and has been fully maintained and serviced nine times by the local Rolls-Royce agents there, the last service carried out at 106,000km. Having only 75,000 miles from new, this Phantom was imported to the UK earlier this year and registered here. The only work required was the replacement of the tyres and as the original tyres were unavailable, the new owners purchased a new set of wheels from Rolls-Royce and fitted new tyres to suit. Finished in ice blue with black leather interior and veneered woodwork, this Phantom is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate and the service books showing its history. This is an excellent example of the continuation of what was believed, in the 1930, to be the 'best car in the world'. ?

Mercedes-Benz 280 SE Saloon

Lot # 305 (Sale Order: 104 of 153)

The first 'S-class' Mercedes-Benz arrived in 1968 in the form of the 280 S and 280 SE which were large comfortable sports saloons offering powerful touring capabilities and luxurious interiors with space to seat five occupants. Known as W108/109 models, they were constructed on 108" wheelbase and the new S-Class saloons were much heavier than earlier models. The styling was updated using a thoroughly modern design featuring the attractive stacked layout of the headlights which was popular during the period. Although the 280 was usually powered by a 2.8 litre, straight six engine, Mercedes-Benz rather confusingly added a V8 engined 280 SE to the model range. The 280 SE 3.5 had a 3.5 litre, V8 engine and came with both automatic and manual transmission and power steering. These saloons were well equipped and extremely powerful. The 280 SE 3.5 would reach a top-speed of 125mph and offered effortless high-speed cruising mated with supple ride comfort. Between 1971 and 1972, Mercedes-Benz produced 11,309 examples and they have always been popular with collectors and enthusiasts alike. Manufactured in the last year of production, this splendid V8 example is finished in maroon with a black Tex interior. The paintwork, transmission, chassis and body are all described as being in excellent condition throughout and rust-free by the vendor. The engine has just been serviced by Mercedes-Benz specialists SS Motors at an approximate cost of £700 and is described as being a 9/10. The car is supplied with an MoT test certificate valid for one year and has had two former owners. A fantastic opportunity to purchase one of the desirable V8 saloons and offered at a very realistic reserve price.

Jaguar SS100 by Heritage

Lot # 306 (Sale Order: 105 of 153)

The SS100 was built between 1936 and 1940 by SS Cars Ltd of Coventry, England. The nomenclature was to reflect the theoretical 100mph maximum speed and once approved by Sir William Lyons, the name 'Jaguar' was given to a new saloon version in 1936. Widely considered to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing Jaguar cars ever built, it is also one of the rarest, with only 198 of the 2.5-litre and 116 of the 3.5-litre models being made. Most stayed on the home market but 49 were exported. Cars in good condition will now regularly fetch in excess of £300,000. It is of little surprise, rather like its later stablemates the C and D-Type, that those of us of a more impecunious persuasion looked for an alternative and a number of boutique car manufacturers then set about to feed this demand, supplying good quality recreations at a fraction of the cost of a real one. Heritage, in this instance, used a Jaguar XJ6 as a chassis with motive power coming from an XJ6 3.4 litre or 4.2 litre unit. In this instance, a 4.2 litre engine was used. The bodywork uses bespoke GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) with an aluminium, louvered bonnet. The brakes are power-assisted-Lockheed disc units with adjustable shock absorbers on six-coil spring suspension. The interior presents in contrasting red leather with blue Wilton carpet and looks fabulous. Also included are a heater, Kenlowe fan, sidescreens, tonneau cover, hoodbag, fitted hood in black mohair, aeroscreens and a toolkit, jack and copper faced hammer. In stunning condition throughout and offering an extremely spirited driving experience, this iconic early recreation of Jaguar's SS100 can be thoroughly enjoyed in all weathers.

Aston Martin V8 Saloon

Lot # 307 (Sale Order: 106 of 153)

The Aston Martin V8 engine began development in the mid-sixties when it was first used in a Lola Sports racing car with a view to replacing the six-cylinder unit which had been in production since the DB4 in 1958. Aston Martin had converted a DB5 with an early V8 engine which was used for many thousands of development miles by the factory to create a usable and powerful eight-cylinder engine for use in the new DBS model that was due for production in 1968. Unfortunately, the engine wasn't ready in time for the launch of the DBS and it went on sale fitted with the six-cylinder engine used in the DB4/5/6. In 1971, the DBS V8 was launched, fitted with the long awaited Tadek Marek designed V8, an engine which powered all Aston Martin models until the launch of the DB7 in the early nineties. The DBS V8 was replaced by the V8 Series III and was unveiled to the press in London in August 1973. The shape of the new V8 was similar to the previous model but featured revised front end styling and one of the major differences was the replacement of the Bosch fuel injection system with Weber carburettors. A number of improvements were made to various other aspects of the car including improved cooling for the automatic transmission, oil and water.  Two optional rear axle ratios were offered and the front seats were redesigned offering greater comfort to driver and passenger.  This Aston Martin V8 was originally delivered on 1st January 1977 via Aston Martin Sales of Sloane Street with the first owner being John Warnock (Montrose) Ltd. of Charleton Road, Montrose on the east coast of Scotland. Supplied with the car is a Heritage Certificate, a copy of the 'Car Record Card' and a valid MoT test certificate valid until 1st December 2016. Fitted with its original engine (V/540/1568) and finished in Suffolk red with a contrasting Parchment hide interior with a contrasting black dashboard, this Aston Martin epitomises everything about a British built grand tourer of the seventies. With the gorgeous sound of the long-legged V8 engine, the armchair-like seats and the tactile switchgear, all contribute to the effortless way in which this Aston Martin drive. With only 2,360 hand built cars manufactured, the Aston Martin V8 is fast becoming a desirable collector's motor car.

Daimler 250 Saloon (V8)

Lot # 309 (Sale Order: 107 of 153)

When Jaguar got hold of Daimler, they had a great 2.5 litre, V8 engine that Edward Turner had recently designed and had been putting into the enigmatic Daimler Dart. They discovered it fitted nicely in the Mk. II bodyshell and had the added bonus of being quicker than the entry level 2.4 litre XK units without out-shining the larger power plants. Being designed by Turner, it shares at least eight parts with the Triumph T-120 Bonneville motorcycle: the V8-250 used domed motorcycle pistons to achieve its compression ratio. It's lighter-weight than the XK-engined Mk. II therefore gets better fuel economy and handles better, although lacks the performance of the 3.4 litre and 3.8 litre.  It had the option of a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive or a more desirable three-speed automatic gearbox. These delightfully handsome Daimlers are becoming highly sought after and when inspecting this vehicle it is easy to understand why. The light blue coachwork on NBP 169D is unmarked and the dark blue leather interior has a beautiful patina, complimented by a highly figured wooden dashboard. The vendor is selling his pride and joy for health reason, indeed when he was looking to purchase a Daimler 250 he spent over two years searching for such a fine example. The engine is very smooth and quite in operation and the automatic transmission performed faultlessly on our test drive. Sitting proudly on chrome wire wheels, this Daimler is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until 17th February 2017 (no advisories) and a good history folder. A great opportunity to purchase one of Coventry's finest, in splendid, immediately usable condition.

Bentley R-Type (Standard Steel Saloon)

Lot # 310 (Sale Order: 108 of 153)

The R-Type is the second series of post-war Bentley motorcars and replacing the Mk. VI. Essentially a larger-boot version of the Mk. VI, the R type is regarded by some as a stop-gap before the introduction of the S-series cars in 1955. As with its predecessor, a standard body was available as well as coachbuilt versions by firms including H.J.Mulliner, Park Ward, Harold Radford, Freestone and Webb and others. Even by this date, there was little difference (other than the radiator grilles and the carburation) between the standard Bentley R-Type and the Rolls Royce Silver Dawn, though Bentley was still the more popular sporting marque. The vast majority of cars produced indeed were Bentleys with some 2,500 units manufactured during the R-Type's run. During development, it was referred to as the Bentley Mk. VII. Indeed the chassis cards for these cars describe them as Bentley 7's. The R-Type name, which is now usually applied, stems from chassis series RT. The front of the saloon model was identical to the Mk. VI, but the boot was almost doubled in capacity and the engine increased in displacement from 4¼ to 4½ litres. This Bentley R-Type has recently been restored and as such presents in very good all round condition. Originally supplied by H.R.Owen in Berkley Street, London W1 and owned by the current vendor for a number of years, this Bentley is finished in grey with light grey interior. The paintwork is in excellent order, as is the wood dashboard and the immaculate seats. Mechanically we are advised she drives with no known faults, the manual gearbox operating as it should and she effortlessly rolls down the road with no rattles or squeaks. A well sorted Bentley and very attractively estimated.?

Maserati 450 S Recreation

Lot # 311 (Sale Order: 109 of 153)

In the history of Maserati, the 450 S Barchetta has been one of the most fascinating of all racing machines. Very powerful with a great chassis, the car had successes, although it could be a little temperamental on the track. With just 10 cars produced, the 450 S was all the more fascinating since its association with a certain brilliant Argentinian driver. Having successfully raced in the 1950s and 1960s, Néstor Salerno participated twice in the 1000 Km of Buenos Aires (with a Ferrari 212 and a Maserati 300 S), and then became part of the official Lancia team. He then started manufacturing replicas of the racing cars with excellent results, amongst which was the Maserati 450 S. This superb Maserati recreation is true to the original and is based on the legendary Pocholo Ramirez car. Ramirez was Asias greatest Formula 1 driver and this car has been built to a very high standard, remaining true to the original drawings of the Maserati 450 S. Registered as a 1958 Maserati Historic Vehicle with a V5C document confirming this. The car is built on a tubular space frame, panelled in 3003 aluminium and finished in aircraft grade enamel paint. The engine is a 4,933cc Maserati quadcam V8 with four downdraft twin choke 45 DCNF carburettors, all this is mated to a four speed transaxle gearbox. This car offers power, noise and speed in abundance. A delightful car, exquisitely handsome and representing good value taking into account one of the original 10 cars manufactured will set you back over £4,000,000.?

BJR 500 Formula 3 Racing Car

Lot # 312 (Sale Order: 110 of 153)

The '500' racing began in 1946 as a way for 'impecunious enthusiasts' to go motor racing using 500cc motorbike engines instead of the larger capacity engines that prevailed prior to the war. The idea caught on and was adopted as a new Formula 3 in 1950. Well-known names raced in 500s including Stirling Moss, Ken Tyrrell, Jim Russell, Les Leston, Peter Collins, Don Parker and Bernie Ecclestone and all drived at famous locations like Shelsley Walsh, Mallory Park and Silverstone.   Brian J Rowsell built the BJR 500 in 1956 to race in Formula 3. It was powered by a JAP single cylinder 500cc engine and featured a relatively sophisticated tubular chassis, wishbone and coil suspension at the front and a swing axle at the rear. Brian competed regularly in it from 1956 through to 1960. Known results include: 1956 Crystal Palace - Redex Trophy, 14th in heat 1956 Brands Hatch - 9th in heat 1958 Brands Hatch - 5th in junior race 1958 Crystal Palace - Redex Trophy, 18th 1958 Brands Hatch - Lewis Evans Trophy, 5th in heat   1959 Brands Hatch - World Sports Trophy, 4th in heat 1959 Brands Hatch - 8th in heat   1960Brands Hatch - Lewis-Evans Trophy, DNF   It was then raced by J.K. Harvey (Brands Hatch 27th August 1961, 11th) and passed to John Bailey towards the end of 1962 who ran it in on the hills and in sprints until 1965. It was then put into the hands of Paul Harris and has been used for hill climbs at Prescott. This is an opportunity to enter a popular race series run by the 500 Owners Association and a number of hill climbs around the UK. ?

MG B Roadster

Lot # 313 (Sale Order: 111 of 153)

The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965. The MGB was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and MGT types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Wind-up windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction, with a 0-60mph time of just over 11 seconds aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Handling was certainly one of the MGB's strong points. After purchase by the previous vendor in June 1985, this early MGB was fully restored and finally completed in 1992. Over the last 24 years, it has covered an average of 750 miles per year with receipts for over £32,000 spent in this period. A full photographic record exists with the comprehensive history fie as well as receipts and copies of every registration document ever issued to the car. An early pull-handle roadster is particularly interesting for period competition and combined with the fine condition this presents itself as, should prove interesting.

Jaguar Lister XJS Convertible (V12)

Lot # 314 (Sale Order: 112 of 153)

Lister is one of the most renowned names in sports car racing history and the Jaguar Lister, designed by Brian Lister, swept almost all before it during its first full racing season in 1957. From the early 1980's, the name has also graced some of the world's fastest road cars and in 1986, sold to Laurence Pearce who produced variants of the Jaguar XJS. Based in Leatherhead, with engineering input by Pearce himself, approximately 90 tuned Jaguar XJSs were produced, the emphasis being very much on super car performance and totally transformed the Jaguar XJS. From the outset this was not going to be a cheap motor car, and it certainly wasn't, costing a cool £88,000 in 1988. Offered here is one such Lister-engineered Jaguar XJS from 1989, being particularly rare due to it being a convertible. Fitted with full Lister body kit and with many Lister engineered parts and upgrades, it is resplendent in red with a cream hide interior piped red with matching red carpets. Sitting on Lister alloy wheels, this Jaguar Lister is striking from every angle. Supplied with old MoT test certificates, as well as a current MoT test valid until April 2017, a service history book with a recent full service just completed. To keep the car looking sharp, a new black hood has recently been fitted.  With the private registration number GGY 3J remaining with the car, this rare supercar is a formidable package of two of the greatest names in British motorsport and justification to have it in any collection due to its rarity, quality and significance as a part of Jaguar's extraordinary history.

AC Ace by Hawk

Lot # 315 (Sale Order: 113 of 153)

British racing driver Ken Rudd constructed the very first Ace-Bristol and his hybrid was quickly adopted by the AC factory and replaced AC's two litre powerplant. First shown in autumn 1956, the AC Ace-Bristol and the companion AC Aceca-Bristol were in production by the spring of 1957. Because it was not only more powerful than AC's own engine but capable of a lot more power-tuning, the Bristol unit made these cars, especially the Ace, much more suited for competition. From 1961, the option of a 'Rudspeed' upgrade 2.6 litre straight-six engine, using triple Weber or SU carburettors became available. This unit in, some tuned forms, would generate upwards of 170bhp. However the late Caroll Shelby had, by this time, installed a big American V8 onto an AC Ace chassis and very quickly AC's focus was almost entirely redirected towards the new AC Cobra which launched in 1962. Production of the AC Ace finished the same year with only 37 of the 2.6 litre Ace's manufactured.  Today, the AC Ace is possibly one of the most quintessential British sports cars. Exuding finesse from every angle, these agile roadsters with racing pedigree are widely regarded as one of the most elegant and characterful British designs of the period. Original examples are now commanding substantial premiums and for this reason, high quality recreations have a dedicated following. Over the past 20 years, British manufacturer 'Hawk' have built themselves an international reputation as the best in the business when it comes to AC replicas. Their AC Ace, 289 Cobra and 427 Cobra reproductions have achieved many accolades and to many, are accepted as being the truest to the original form and depending upon detailed specification, also reproduce an authentic and comparable driving experience. Founder Gerry Hawkridge is acknowledged globally as an AC guru, so much so, that when you visit the collection of outbuildings at their premises there is usually a genuine Cobra and/or Ace or two on site for maintenance. This AC Ace by Hawk was completed by a talented aircraft engineer who also had over 30 years of experience restoring a variety of British sports cars to high standards. Finished in British Racing Green and fitted with a totally rebuilt 2.5 litre Triumph TR6 engine mated to a Triumph GT6 manual four-Speed gearbox with overdrive (reconditioned by Hardy's of Leatherhead) plus new clutch and flywheel, this car's specification closely matches the higher performance original late production AC Ace and generates a very satisfying V6 engine note. It also benefits from '123' electronic ignition and triple 40 Weber Carburettors by Webcom, high pressure fuel pump, Pacet fans and an oil cooler (not piped). Hydraulic brake and clutch pedals were supplied by Gerry Hawkridge. The Ace is fitted with uprated discs and pads and the exhaust front end uses Stainless Steel TR6 downpipes mated to bespoke middle and rear sections also in stainless steel. The vehicle is generally in 'as new' condition and so the power delivery, transmission, handling and braking performance is described as excellent. The car comes with black tonneau cover, a long MoT test certificate and just 700 road miles since being built. This virtually 'as new' collectable is road-ready to provide thrilling motoring with style and panache.

Ford Cortina Mk.I 1500GT

Lot # 316 (Sale Order: 114 of 153)

The Cortina was Ford's mass-market compact car and sold extremely well. It was produced in five generations, the Mk. I through to the Mk. V although officially the last one was called the Cortina 80. With variants of the Cortina reaching sales of over one million, each successive model proved more popular than its predecessor.  Such was its fame in the UK, that the BBC Two documentary seriesArenaonce devoted an entire programme to the car and its enthusiasts. In response to the huge success of the Mini, Ford responded not with a small car but with a larger family offering which they could sell in large numbers. The result was the Cortina; a distinctively styled car aimed at buyers of the Morris Oxford and Vauxhall Victor, launched on 20th September 1962. With eye-catching modern styling, it was originally branded as the Consul Cortina until a modest facelift in 1964, after which, it was sold simply as the Cortina but with four trim levels; Standard, Deluxe, Super and GT. This concours winning Cortina is astonishing for a number of reasons; she has only had two owners in her 53 years on the road, both of whom seem to have an obsession in how the car has to be looked after, secondly the mileage of 19,244 is genuine and warranted. Thirdly, it is virtually impossible to find a more original example than this outstanding car. The jack and tools are all present and correct; even they are kept polished and spotless. The interior of the car can only be described as 'as new', the dashboard has no age related marks and the seats are unmarked as are the original carpets. The Goodwood green paintwork is superb although it does appear the bonnet may have been painted many years ago. The underbonnet area is delightful and exactly as it should be. During our thoroughly enjoyable road test, we were able to take the car to the garage that had carried out most of the MoT tests. The garage owner kindly let us have a look under the car, our inspection confirmed this Cortina 1500GT to be exceptional underneath just as she is on top. The garage owner recalled a time when the previous custodian took the car for an MoT test a number of years ago. During the test, it started raining and he refused to drive the car home in the rain, choosing to walk instead. He picked the car up three days later when the roads were dry! While on the photo shoot, a procession of people continued to admire and comment on this delightfully handsome car, it is almost a privilege to have had the opportunity to closely inspect this 53 year old Ford. The car is currently fitted with a Les Leston Grand Prix steering wheel, although the original is available and a stainless steel exhaust was fitted in 1990. When she was supplied new on 4th July 1963, this Cortina would have cost £748-10-5d this is one of the early examples with a 'strip' type speedometer and a rev. counter pod mounted on the lefthand side of the steering column.  The current vendor has shown ARE 163A at a number of events, unsurprisingly with great success, here are just some of the events this Cortina 1500GT has won;  1990 Mk.I Cortina Owners ClubConcours winner. 1991 Mk.I Cortina Owners ClubBest GT(National Rally). 1992 Mk.I Cortina Owners ClubConcours winner. Ford 1600E Owners Club, visitorsConcours winner. Auto-Glym Concours 1960-1970Classic saloons winner. 1995 Mk.I Cortina Owners Club (National Rally)Concours winner.  Clearly a example of unparalleled quality in terms of the low ownership, an average mileage of 362 miles per year and outstanding original condition, this 1500GT has not been offered for sale in the last 27 years. Interest parties are recommended to view this car in person to gauge the quality of this 'time-warp' condition Ford.

Aston Martin DB9

Lot # 317 (Sale Order: 115 of 153)

Designed by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, the Aston Martin DB9 was first revealed to the motoring press and public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2003, the exceptional Aston Martin DB9 promised to be one of the most sought after supercars of the decade. Henrik Fisker's flowing design retained all the good looks of its predecessor, the highly acclaimed DB7. Weight was kept low by the use of aluminium and composites for the bodywork while power from the V12 was a healthy 450bhp, which provided the Aston with acceleration to 100mph from standstill in only 10 seconds, then on to a near 190mph maximum speed. Weight distribution was a perfect 50:50 thanks to the front-mid engine layout with a rear-mounted sequential transmission. The DB9 was the first Aston Martin to be built at the Gaydon facility in Warwickshire.   This excellent Aston Martin DB9 has only covered 52,200 miles since being delivered new in 2005. Finished in gunmetal grey with burgundy leather interior, this DB9 has a full service history being serviced every other year with the last one less than 300 miles ago; at the same time the coil packs were replaced. At the time of cataloguing, a personal number plate was being removed and the original number being reinstated. This Aston Martin DB9 will be supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in July 2017 and the original service/handbook. When you consider that this car cost approximately £120,000 when new, it's easy to see how it now represents outstanding value in the sports car market. We can think of no better modern GT classic in this price bracket, which is as exhilarating to drive as it is elegant to look at. ?

Brooke 260 RR Cosworth

Lot # 318 (Sale Order: 116 of 153)

Brooke Cars Ltd is a British car manufacturer of specialist sports cars, based near Honiton in Devon. It was established in 2002, following the purchase of the vehicle rights from Brooke Kensington in 1990. The company produces one model, the Double R, a lightweight two-seater open sports car weighing around 510 kg (1,120 lb) and is powered by a 2.3-litre Cosworth engine producing 260 bhp. Financing issues have meant these exciting cars have been produced in very small numbers. Designed to be a modern version of the 1950/60's single seater racers such as the Maserati 250F but with the added advantage of two seats, critical to the look are the concealed headlights and oval front radiator intake. Manufactured in 2008 and registered in the UK on 1st January 2009, this Brooke 260 RR is the ninth car to be produced by the resurrected Brooke Cars Ltd. The 2261cc Duratec engine with Cosworth throttle bodies is mated to a five-speed gearbox. This mid-engined fully road legal Brooke, sits on lightweight OZ alloy wheels and Toyo tyres; four-point safety harness belts are fitted and there is an easy to read digital stack display system. This particular example was fitted with over £7,000 of extras including a Quaffe limited slip differential, adjustable dampers, roll bars, carbon fibre engine cover, motorsport radiator and a tonneau cover. The fastidious vendor has looked after this Brooke impeccably and as such, it presents in excellent condition. Supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until 21st June 2017 and a collection of invoices; this is a stunning looking car whether being used on the road or track.

Porsche 911/996 Turbo

Lot # 319 (Sale Order: 117 of 153)

The 996 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 model; it was manufactured and sold between 1998 and 2005. On its debut, the 996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model since its 1963 introduction, namely the water-cooled engine replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Progressively stringent noise regulations, environmental concerns, a higher expectation for refinement and a high-performance, four-valve-per-cylinder engine made the switch necessary. Other changes included a sleeker body with a more steeply raked windshield and a re-designed interior. The performance characteristics remained superb with reliability at its core. Porsche 911 Turbo have enjoyed somewhat of a meteoric rise over the past 24 months and justifiably so. With a 40% increase in the value of the 996 models last year, this example is expected to attract much attention. Finished in pearl white with a tan leather interior, the vendor describes the car as a 10/10 example than he imported from Japan last year. Having covered an average of just over 4,000 miles a year, a low mileage for a car famed for being a sports car for everyday use, this 911 was recently given a new MoT test certificate and boasts a full service history. With electric everything including heated seats and lovely biscuit trim this Turbo has the assurance of the last service having been recently undertaken in July this year. Time is running out to find examples of the 996 Turbo at a reasonable price point and these cars can be described, not only as a truly drivable sports car, but also a sound investment.

Lancia Appia

Lot # 321 (Sale Order: 118 of 153)

The Lancia Appia was introduced in 1953 as a replacement for the Ardea which remained in production for ten years. The Appia was the last in a long line of Lancia production cars dating back to the Lancia Lambda (introduced in 1922) to use the famous sliding pillar front suspension. All three series produced had a Lancia V4 engine of 1089cc. In addition to the saloon, a number of special bodied Appias were produced including a coupé by Pininfarina, a convertible and two-door saloon by Vignale and an aluminium-bodied GT by Zagato, as well as light commercial vehicle variants. In all, 107,000 Appia were built: 98,000 saloons, 3,863 commercial vehicles, and 5,161 chassis supplied to coachbuilders. In March 1959, the third series Appia was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show with a new front end inspired by the Lancia Flaminia flagship. Engine power went up again to 48PS, as did top speed, to 132km/h (82mph). The braking system was improved with front drum brakes and a 'Duplex ' dual hydraulic circuit during the 1960 model year. In its third iteration, the Appia was finally mature and 55,577 saloons were made, the vast majority in lefthand drive. This charming little Appia is finished in dark blue with a beautiful grey-blue interior, accessed via the pillarless doors which is always a novelty and complements the exterior paintwork perfectly. The car underwent a restoration some years ago and we are informed by the vendor that it is in good condition throughout. Supplied with Italian paperwork and original documents from 1962, this charming pillarless saloon is offered at no reserve and provides all the Italian style and charm of much more exotic machinery.

Lamborghini Countach 5000 QV by Mirage

Lot # 322 (Sale Order: 119 of 153)

By 1987, Countach replica kits were being offered by a big variety of companies; one thing is for sure, none of that initial group of would-be supercar counterfeiters was finding it easy to fully develop and finish a demonstrator.  As new names like Brightwheel, Silhouette, Sienna and ABS entered the fray, Paul Lawrenson's Prova Designs thrived. Paul clearly knew something others didn't, although Phil Cheetham's Mirage operation was always beating a path towards Prova's door. With the competition soon foundering, Prova and Mirage had the market almost entirely to themselves by the early 1990's. Whilst most of the replicators had found the cost, skill, effort and time required in recreating the Countach far too draining, Paul Lawrenson and Phil Cheetham had found the answers. Commissioned specifically for the first owner and built to exacting standards by an aircraft engineer, this Lamborghini Countach recreation was five years in the making and finally registered as new in 2014. Due to a change in circumstances that entailed the original owner moving overseas, the car was reluctantly sold to its second owner, a collector, who eventually replaced the car with a classic Ferrari. This stunning vehicle is built on a reinforced tubular chassis for extra rigidity and handling coupled to a lightweight glass fibre body. The attention to detail on this car is no less than breathtaking with great care being paid to minute detail including Lamborghini insignias being etched on the glass and emblazoned on the brake callipers. This magnificent example looks resplendent in Rossa Corsa paint and has covered just less than two thousand miles on a fully rebuilt BMW 5.0 litre, 12 cylinder engine mated to an Audi gearbox. Recently mapped and dynamometer tested, it is producing 340bhp at the rear wheels and even the engine note and positioning of the exhausts have not escaped the attention of the makers. The cars quad exhausts have been positioned to millimetre perfection and the note has been tuned to sound every bit as intoxicating as the genuine article.  Even the engine cam covers have been kissed by the raging bull emblem. This car has been the subject of much scrutiny by enthusiasts and motor industry experts alike and all but the every keenest of eyes have been unable to tell the difference between this when parked alongside the real thing. Admired everywhere she goes and a joy to drive, this Countach will be at home in the finest of stables. Being offered here with a sensible guide price that represents a fraction of the price of the real thing, this stunning car is every bit as exciting to drive.

Ferrari 355 F1 Berlinetta

Lot # 323 (Sale Order: 120 of 153)

The Ferrari F355 was built from May 1994 to 1999. It is an evolution of the Ferrari 348, a mid-engined, rear wheel drive V8-powered 2-seat coupé. One major difference between the V8 in the 348 and that in the F355, apart from the displacement increase from 3.4 to 3.5 litres, is that the F355 features a 5-valve per-cylinder head that is considerably more powerful, producing 375bhp. The frame is a steel monocoque with tubular steel rear sub-frame with front and rear suspensions using independent, unequal-length wishbones, coil springs over gas-filled telescopic shock absorbers with electronic control servos and anti-roll bars. Ferrari fitted all road-going F355 models with Pirelli tyres. Derived directly from Formula 1, where it made its debut in 1989 winning the Brazilian Grand Prix, the electro-hydraulic gear change system was operated by paddles behind the steering wheel using the F355's conventional 6-speed manual gearbox. The new transmission guaranteed lightning-quick gear changes, with the additional advantage that both the driver's hands could stay on the wheel at all times. This lefthand drive Ferrari is finished in Grigio with black trim and is a superb looking vehicle. Originally registered in Switzerland and imported into the UK in 2015, this 355 F1 is now registered here and ready to use immediately, having been serviced by Autofficina in Surrey including a change of cambelts in late 2015. The coachwork is in excellent order as is the leather interior; we are advised she drives superbly with the paddle shift gearbox operating exactly as it should. Ferrari 355's have become in demand of late with the market waking up to the outstanding value these cars offer compared to some of their stablemates. Supplied with a V5C registration document, a current MoT test certificate and the original service books, this low mileage example is sure to attract significant interest.?

BMW E30 C1 Alpina

Lot # 324 (Sale Order: 121 of 153)

Alpina was established in 1965, pre-dated by its founder, Burkard Bovensiepen, using his skills to produce tuning kits for a range of car brands, including BMW. Today Alpina, a vehicle manufacturer in its own right - and still a family firm, guided by Bovensiepen and his sons, Andreas and Florian - continues to enjoy close co-operation with BMW.  Indeed it is the basis of its continuing success, with manufacturing processes integrated into BMW's production facilities.  In the late '60s, Alpina spread its wings into touring car racing and such was its authority that in 1971, a year after winning the European Touring Car Championship, Alpina was handed the project leadership of the lightweight BMW 3.0CSL Coupe, which in competition guise, was to stamp such an indelible impression on touring car racing.  Today, Alpina produces some 1,700 BMW-based high-end vehicles a year, designed - as was always the case - to appeal to enthusiasts, with performance and individuality at their heart. The Alpina C1 was based on the E30 323i and was among their most popular early models, providing superior performance over the unmodified car. The extra power is due to Mahle pistons and a special exhaust and ignition system. It also received dry-sump lubrication and a short-ratio five-speed gearbox. Only 35 C1 cars were built making it one of the rarest Alpina cars.  This extremely collectable E30 limited edition Alpina was imported from Japan and has formed part of a private collection for the last two years. During that time, it has received a new fuel tank, pump and filter; it also benefits from new lower wishbones, general hoses, belts and a full service. Presented at auction with a full one year MoT test certificate, it still carries the dashboard plaque, "C1 BMW Alpina E30 W105" and is in remarkably original condition throughout. Thought to be still in its original paintwork underneath the pin-stripe Alpina decals, it started on the button with no red lights showing on the overhead display. Already very much a modern classic, prices will only rise for these specialist sporting coupés.

Ferrari F512 TR

Lot # 325 (Sale Order: 122 of 153)

The 512 TR was the replacement for the Testarossa and was announced for the 1992 model year. The new car witnessed a return to a model title using characters, with the figure '5' referring to the cubic capacity of the engine in litres and the '12' to the number of cylinders, whilst the 'TR' was an abbreviation of Testarossa. The main external visual differences were the nose and tail treatment, the louvre design on the engine lid and the design of the road wheels. There was also a barely noticeable different profile to the sail panel buttresses which were plain and flowed directly into the roof panel on the 512 TR. Internally, there were changes to the seats, steering wheel design and trim details. Mechanically there were numerous changes to the engine and gearbox which boosted power and provided a more satisfying and positive to use gearbox. Not visually apparent was that the engine and transmission assembly location in the chassis had been dropped by 30mm to lower the centre of gravity and thus improve the already high standard of ride and roadholding. Offered here is an exceptionally well presented 512 TR in Ferrari Rosso red with black leather interior.  This example was originally sold in Italy where it resided with a wealthy businessman until purchased and exported to Japan in circa 1995. Having owned a poster when he was a teenager, the Ferrari was then spotted by a London based company director in 2015 on a business trip and, unable to resist the opportunity of owning his dream car, he brought it back to these shores where it has had pride of place in his showroom. Following advice from specialists, the vehicle has recently had a full cambelt service by Verdi Ferrari. It also had a full appraisal which indicated the mileage to be correct based on the condition of the car. Having been UK registered and offered with export documents and current MoT test certificate until June 2017, this represents a fabulous example of the much sought after Testarossa replacement. Hard to fault and having been stored dry, we are certain that any TR fan would be tempted by this appreciating Ferrari.?

Lamborghini Diablo VT

Lot # 326 (Sale Order: 123 of 153)

The Diablo was presented to the public for sale on January 21st 1990. Its power came from a 5.7 litre, 48-valve version of the existing Lamborghini V12 featuring dual overhead cams and computer-controlled, multi-point fuel injection, producing a maximum output of 492hp and 428 lb/ft of torque. It could reach 62mph in about 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 202mph. The Diablo was rear-wheel drive and the engine was mid-mounted to aid its weight balance. The Diablo came better equipped than the Countach and had standard features including fully adjustable seats and steering wheel, electric windows, an Alpine stereo system and power steering from 1993 onwards. Anti-lock brakes were not initially available although they would eventually be used. A few options were available including a custom-moulded driver's seat, remote CD changer and subwoofer, rear spoiler, factory fitted luggage set and an exclusive Breguet clock for the dash. Carrying on Lamborghini's tradition of naming its cars after breeds of fighting bull, the Diablo was named after a ferocious bull raised by the Duke of Veragua in the 19th century, famous for fighting an epic battle with 'El Chicorro' in Madrid on July 11, 1869.  This rare righthand drive 1995 Lamborghini Diablo VT was registered by Lamborghini GB, Reading, on 7th April 1995 and has led a pampered life with servicing carried out by both main agent and marque specialists Carrera Sport with only 11,064 miles registered. Finished in turquoise, a colour believed to be unique to match the dress of the original owner's girlfriend, very much a "love it or loathe it" colour and should be celebrated as such. We are informed panel fit and finish is exceptional with the large scissor doors lifting cleanly and smoothly. The cabin reveals an opulent appointment of alcantara and leather; a fitting combination that matches the wild exterior. The vendor informs us the alcantara headlining remains taut and cascades down to the top of the dashboard,  giving way to cream leather which has worn extremely well without tell tale signs of re-connolising. The seat integrity and support is excellent, with a user-friendly driving position, an Alpine Cassette with CD Changer, air conditioning and electric windows all to hand. The car is supplied with a tool kit and full book pack featuring the driver's handbook, supplementary instruction book and European sales and service locations. The original service book is fully stamped up, with the last visit to Mike Pullen at Carrera Sport in April of 2014 at 10,402 miles, some 662 miles ago. It also comes with an MoT test certificate valid until June 2017.  This is a fantastic example of the highly prized and collectible motor car whose values are sure to please investors and enthusiasts alike.

Triumph Stag

Lot # 327 (Sale Order: 124 of 153)

Launched in 1970, the Triumph Stag was a luxury grand tourer. Envisioned as a luxury sports car, it was designed to compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz SL class models. All Stags were four-seater convertible coupés but for structural rigidity and to meet new American rollover standards at the time, the Stag required a B-pillar 'roll bar' hoop connected to the windscreen frame by a T-bar. A new 2.5 litre, V8 designed and developed by Triumph's Harry Webster was later enlarged to 2,997cc. Most Stags were fitted with a Borg Warner automatic gearbox although manual gearboxes with overdrive are available. Electric windows, power steering and power-assisted brakes were fitted as standard. This Triumph was originally registered on 6th January 1977 and requires restoration. Our inspection confirmed everything appears present and she is still fitted with the Triumph 2997cc, V8 engine, which is mated to a manual gearbox with overdrive unit. Triumph Stag's have become increasingly popular in the classic car fraternity of late and an example such as this, which is offered at no reserve, could well prove to be a bargain. Supplied with a V5C registration document.?

Bentley Brooklands

Lot # 328 (Sale Order: 125 of 153)

The Bentley Brooklands was introduced in 1992 as a replacement for the Bentley Mulsanne and Bentley Eight models. It was intended as a slightly cheaper alternative to the Bentley Turbo R featuring the same styling, underpinnings of the Rolls-Royce 6.75 litre, V8 engine but without the more powerful model's turbocharger. The Brooklands continued Bentley's design theme which was also used on contemporary Rolls-Royce vehicles throughout the 1980's and early 1990's. The exterior design featured the classic Bentley grill as well as dual headlights with wrap-around parking lights. As with many Bentley and Rolls-Royce vehicles, the Brooklands also featured the trademark descending boot lid and chrome B-pillars. The interior remained relatively unchanged from previous Bentley models but with a more curvaceous design element surrounding the leather-wrapped centre console. This 1996 Bentley Brooklands has had very little use in the last five years covering only a 1,000 miles a year. Finished in the uncommon colour of Silver with grey Connolly hide interior, it was subject to £6,000 being spent on it in 2015 which included having a twelve-month service, new rear engine mounts, brake overhaul and new rear suspension spheres fitted. In excellent condition throughout, this Bentley Brooklands is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in July 2017 and the original handbook and service book. A rare Silver Bentley Brooklands which offers the new owner an opportunity for enjoyable, prestigious motoring at an affordable price.
