Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7

Lot # 329 (Sale Order: 126 of 153)

We are pleased to offer this delightful Austin Healey 3000 BJ7 built to represent the works Healey of 1964. Imported from the USA in 1990, EBW 195B has since undergone extensive restoration works over an 18 year period; works that still exude a quality today. In fact, it is rarely seen with such a motor car, that it displays a character and a patina often missed with the overly glitzy restorations often seen today. Thankfully, EBW 195B still retains the lefthand drive format it started life with. The British Motoring Heritage Trust Certificate states that this big Healey was manufactured between 27th and 28th June 1963 and was dispatched to the USA on the 22nd July of that year. The certificate also confirms that the Healey was dispatched with wire wheels, overdrive, a heater, an adjustable steering column, tonneau cover, whitewall tyres and a laminated windscreen. The Guards red coachwork is in excellent order throughout with the standard continuing on the undersides. Of note are the panel gaps, a detail that is difficult to get right with restorations of motor cars of this construction. The front wings have the addition of the works style vents and what really sets this Healey off is the addition of a works style hardtop with vent. It may be of interest to note that we are not sure whether this is a genuine works hardtop or not but it doesn't have the look of a new re-production item. On opening the bonnet, you may see the standard has been maintained. The engine is supplied with fuel via the triple 1¾" SU carburettors and the electrics supplied by an alternator conversion. Exhaust gases are extracted via the stainless steel side exiting exhaust system. In addition, the brakes have been uprated and drive is via an overdrive gearbox and limited slip differential. Many may be pleased to know that the wire wheels are still with the car but not the whitewall tyres, these now having been fitted with Dunlop Racing tyres. In addition, there is a set of knock-on Minilite style alloy wheels shod with excellent Dunlop SP Sport tyres.  The standard continues on the inside with the excellent red piped black Connolly hide seats and matching Wilton carpets. A set of standard bumpers, in excellent condition, are also included. The Healey is UK registered and will arrive at the sale with an MoT test certificate.  So there you have it, a fabulous Austin Healey that is a pleasure to drive, looks and feels period and has all the right parts that make it up to be the car it is today. Please inspect this Austin Healey and then ask yourself, what would this Austin Healey cost to build today? With that in mind, we're sure you will agree that it is offered with a very reasonable estimate.

Mercedes-Benz 250 SL Roadster

Lot # 330 (Sale Order: 127 of 153)

The Mercedes-Benz W113 roadsters, designed by Paul Bracq, were produced from 1963 through to 1971. All models boast an inline six-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection with rear-wheel drive but are also equipped with independent rear suspension; a feature that greatly improved road handling. Most of these early SL's were sold with both the removable hard-top and a soft-top in the so called 'Coupé/Roadster' configuration. The 230 SL made a remarkable debut at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in March 1963, where Nallinger introduced it as follows: 'It was our aim to create a very safe and fast sports car with high performance which, despite its sports characteristics, provides a very high degree of travelling comfort.'  This highly desirable 250 SL with automatic gearbox is in superb condition throughout as you would expect from a fully restored example. To begin with, the body has been completely sand-blasted then a process added to prevent any future corrosion. The body has then been painted in the correct and original factory colour. The floor-pans and sills were replaced and the boot area renovated. A new windscreen has been fitted and 70% of the rubber seals are new. The hard-top is in excellent condition and the soft-top is brand new. All chromework has been re-chromed and the electrical system cleaned and partially replaced by new parts. New shock absorbers and suspension parts have been fitted and the braking system has been overhauled using many new parts. The interior has also had a similar treatment with all upholstery replaced, wood renovated and new hard-top hood lining. Complete with original Mercedes-Benz service books from day one including annual inspection entries and reviews, this investment quality 250 SL has really had the full treatment. Described by the vendor as between 9/10 and 10/10 in every respect, both collectors and enthusiasts should certainly shortlist this 250 SL for further consideration.

Triumph Spitfire Four Mk. II

Lot # 331 (Sale Order: 128 of 153)

The production car changed little from the prototype, although the full-width rear bumper was dropped in favour of two part-bumpers curving round each corner, with overriders. Mechanics were basically stock Herald with the notable addition of front disc brakes. The engine was an 1,147cc four-cylinder with a pushrod OHV cylinder head and two valves per cylinder, mildly tuned for the Spitfire, fed by twin SU carburettors. Also from the Herald, came the rack and pinion steering and coil-and-wishbone front suspension, and at the rear, a single transverse-leaf swing axle arrangement. The body was bolted to a much-modified Herald chassis, the outer rails and the rear outriggers having been removed; little of the original Herald chassis design was left and the Spitfire used structural outer sills to stiffen its body tub. For 1964, an overdrive option was added to the four-speed manual gearbox to give more relaxed cruising. Wire wheels and a hard top were also available. In March 1965, the Spitfire Mk. II was launched. It was very similar to the Mk. I but featured a more highly tuned engine, through a revised camshaft design, a water-cooled intake manifold, and tubular exhaust manifold, increasing the power to 67bhp at 6000 rpm. The coil-spring design clutch of the Mk. I was replaced with a Borg and Beck diaphragm spring clutch; North American models retained the coil-spring housing and were also equipped with AC-Delco distributors. The exterior trim was modified with a new grille and badges. The interior trim was improved with redesigned seats and by covering most of the exposed surfaces with rubber cloth. The original moulded rubber floor coverings were replaced with moulded carpets. This Triumph Spitfire Four Mk. II has been in one family from new and has covered a mere 10,000 miles since its purchase from Portsmouth Garages in June 1965. It remained in Sussex with its purchaser until August 2010 with all the MoT test certificates and service book confirming the mileage covered of only 9,377 miles. Since then, the car was taken to Triumph Specialists where £6,000 was spent on all the mechanical re-commissioning and then £13,000 on new panels and paintwork, all completed to the highest standards. Finished in the original green with black and piped in white seats, this stunning and rare Spitfire Four Mk. II is fitted with a Les Weston steering wheel and supplied with a V5C registration document, an advise free MoT test certificate, a number of original documents including first bill of sale, 1965 sales brochure, original hand book and service book. This is a unique opportunity to buy a very low mileage Spitfire with a complete history in perfect condition which is ready to use, show and enjoy. ?

Buckingham Limousine

Lot # 332 (Sale Order: 129 of 153)

This is a unique car in every way, a one off built for a classic car collector in 1980, taking five years to complete finally being registered in 1985. Based on the Jaguar V12 running gear on a chassis,  the aluminium body was created by ex-workers from Aston Martin body shop and since being built has only covered 11,500 miles. At the time of construction, it cost around £250,000 to build. Featuring gullwing doors to the rear compartment this stunning car, like the Panther DeVille, it used the Bugatti Royale as its inspiration for its design. Similar to the Royale, cost was not a deciding facture in building this car. Featured on the BBC programme, Top Gear in 1985, it was built to the highest of standards featuring Connelly grey leather, crystal wine glasses, on-board umbrellas and lamb's wool rugs. The coachwork is finished almandine red and dove grey with full Aston Martin grey leather seating; it has a full service history having only covered 11,500 miles since being built. This is a totally a one-off car which has been built to the highest of standards which would reduplicate the coachbuilders of the 1929's in their heyday. The Buckingham is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in August 2017 and a file containing some history. This is a very rare opportunity to purchase a unique piece of motoring fine art which has been loved and cherished by all of its previous owners.?

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL

Lot # 333 (Sale Order: 130 of 153)

Mercedes-Benz have been producing an SL (Sport Leicht) model or range of models since 1954. The similarly styled but mechanically unrelated 190 followed in 1955, completing the first generation of cars. The second generation SL's began with the 230 in 1963. It was distinguished by its lower waistline, big curved screens and a distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname of pagoda top'. Over its nine years of production, the second generation SL's engine grew in capacity from 2.3 litre (230SL) to 2.5 litre (250SL) and finally to a 2.8 litre (280SL). The larger, third generation SL was launched in 1971, initially with just a 3.5-litre engine (350SL) mated to four-speed automatic transmission. The car featured a two-door monocoque body shell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front, semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear. The power assisted steering was Daimler-Benz's own re-circulating ball system. Over its seventeen-year reign, the R107 range was powered by no less than eight different engines - two sizes of straight-six unit and six versions of 90-degree V8 including the three litre straight six we have offered here, produced from 1985.   This stunning, completely rust free, righthand drive Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was first registered in the UK in August 1988 and has recently been the subject of a complete check through and cosmetic restoration which included a re-paint in the original colour of white, refurbishment of the original wheels, a full service including replacing all the filters, a new Quicksilver stainless steel exhaust system and a new battery. In excellent condition throughout, this 300 SL has its unmarked original blue check interior and is supplied with a V5c registration, an MoT test certificate which expires in July 2017, the original tools and the handbooks which were supplied with the car. With the prospect of an Indian summer to look forward to, a lucky new owner awaits this very smart, completely rust free and well cared for Mercedes-Benz 300 SL which gives the benefits of open top motoring. ?

Fiat 130 Coupé

Lot # 334 (Sale Order: 131 of 153)

The Pininfarina designed Fiat 130 Coupé first saw the light of day in 1971. Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show of that year, the new car displayed a new coupé design and interior over its predecessor, the Fiat 130 saloon. Production records show that 4,491 units were produced over the period between 1971 and 1977 with only 617 examples being manufactured in 1974. The 130 Coupé was an executive express, coming into its own whilst travelling at high cruising speeds, power being supplied by the 3235cc V8 making this a rather understated supercar. This 1974 example is offered with the rare manual 5-speed option. The silver coachwork suits the lines of the coupé design and is in good order throughout. The contrasting orange velour is in remarkable condition and certainly reflects the 1970s tastes. Perhaps the condition of this 130 is due to it being placed in dry storage for a period of about 25 years in Monza, Italy. Purchased from the 2nd owner, re-commissioning works in Italy included, new timing belts and tensioners, clutch unit, exhaust, tyres and the overhaul of the braking system; a recent test demonstrating how well this particular car drives. Imported into the UK in 2015, this Fiat 130 Coupé is UK registered and will arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate. Offered with a very reasonable estimate, how long can this Italian supercar stay at this level?

Jaguar Mk. II Saloon (3.4 litre)

Lot # 335 (Sale Order: 132 of 153)

The Jaguar Mk. II was built from 1959 to 1969 as a successor to the 2.4 and 3.4 litre models which were manufactured between 1957 and 1959. It was a handsome, powerful and good handling saloon which was offered with a choice of three six-cylinder twin cam engines; 2.4 litre, 3.4 litre or 3.8 litre. After the appreciation of the Mk.I, Jaguar's successor was well received making a good car even better.  Similar in appearance but with a bigger glass area, it boasted a wider track to improve road holding together with minor front suspension changes to reduce body roll and all-round disc rather than drum brakes. Raced by all the top drivers of the day including Graham Hill, Roy Salvadori and Michael Parkes, the Mk. II has scored victories throughout saloon car races in the sixties and was also raced across Europe in the Tour De France and Monte Carlo rally. Finished in the lovely original period colour scheme of pearl grey with a contrasting red interior, this fine example was purchased new via Coombs and Sons of Guilford by R.F.H. Porter on 12th August 1961 as detailed by the original order form in the car's file.  According to the document, it was fitted with a badge bar, wind-up radio aerial and reclining seats. The current owner purchased the car in 1988 from Colin Richards who used it as a second car. The owner informs us the engine is 9/10 with interior, transmission and paintwork all 8/10 and so represents a fine example all round having had extensive work carried out by K & N Classics of Bosham in 2011-2012. The car is accompanied by an original operating, maintenance and service booklet and distributor booklet all in its original plastic wallet. Various bills for sundry items accompany the car plus bills from Jaguar specialist's Classis Car Electrical Services in Chichester dating from 2010 detailing work carried out including amongst others the refitting of front lamps, clean-up of interior switches, remove fuel pump and clean, strip and clean fuel filter and a general tidy-up totalling over £1,000. Later in 2011, a full carpet set was fitted with underfelt, the leather seats were removed and treated with leather food while the dash board was completely removed and varnished totalling over £2,000.Further documentation includes an original Shell Lubrication booklet; supplied with a good history file and presented in its original and desirable colour scheme, this Mk.II is indeed a fine example.

Mercedes-Benz 350 SL Roadster

Lot # 336 (Sale Order: 133 of 153)

The Mercedes-Benz R129 models were produced from 1989 through to 2001 and sold under the SL-Class model names. The R129 replaced the R107 SL-Class in 1989 and was subsequently replaced by the R 230 in 2001.The R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W 124 saloon and featured many innovative details for the time. The R129 came to public attention in 1991 when Diana, Princess of Wales, sold her Jaguar XJS to lease a J-registration, metallic-red 500 SL, becoming the first member of the Royal Family to use a foreign car. This controversy sparked a media storm as it was questioned whether a member of British Royalty should drive a foreign car. The fifth generation of the legendary SL series, made by Mercedes-Benz, was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof- a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. Originally registered on 22nd April 1980, this Mercedes-Benz presents in very good order having had only five previous keepers during its 36 years on the road. The penultimate keeper owning her for 17 years and the current vendor has enjoyed SGC 826V since 2009. The original handbooks are present with stamps in the service book up until 1998 with invoices/bills since, confirming the mileage. Clearly this R107 has been very well looked after and cared for. In 2015, the vendor sent the car into Ryecraft Motors in South London to have the bodywork extensively taken car of. This included removing any areas of corrosion, fitment of a new off-side front wing, repainted in the current colour scheme and rust-proofing applied. All the parts were supplied by the SL shop and the total invoice was circa £14,000. Supplied with a V5C registration document, a full years MoT test certificate and a good history folder; this delightful 350 SL is a splendid example and is the perfect car for someone looking for a roadster to drive and enjoy.

Bentley Continental R

Lot # 337 (Sale Order: 134 of 153)

Since 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury. The 'Continental' designation recalls the Bentley Continental of the post-war period. The 'R' resonates to the R-Type Bentleys from the 1950s as well as the Turbo R of the 1980s. Bentley's 1980s resurgence relied exclusively on models whose basic architecture was shared with other Rolls-Royce models however; the Bentley Continental R was unique to the Bentley marque.  Despite the need to incorporate non-traditional features such as doors recessed into the roof, the result looked every bit a Bentley, albeit one re-stated for the 1990s. Needless to say, the performance was outstanding, the combination of the Turbo R engine in the new wind-cheating shape cutting the 0-60mph time to under six seconds and boosting a top speed in excess of 150mph. Presented in Georgian Silver with opulent ivory leather interior, this outstanding example spent its first five years in the Channel Islands and has covered a mere 68,000 miles.  This Continental R has been serviced by Bentley since production, details of which can be reviewed in the history file which also contains a collection of bills substantiating the careful ownership. Offered with an MoT test certificate valid until the 29th July 2017, this Bentley is in superb condition throughout.

Dellow Mk. II B

Lot # 338 (Sale Order: 135 of 153)

Dellow Motors Ltd was started by Ken Delingpole and Ron Lowe to produce road-going sports cars for the enthusiast to use in trials, rallies and hill-climbs.The design emphasis was on light weight and a rearward weight bias for trials. Many sporting awards were won by drivers of Dellow cars in the early 1950s, not only in trials but also in other events such as driving tests and hillclimbs. Dellows also took overall honours in the MCC organised Daily Express National Rally and the Circuit of Ireland Rally. Dellow drivers often shone in other forms of motor sport, Tony Marsh from Kinver went on to become RAC Hill Climb Champion on no less than 6 occasions. Peter Collins from Kidderminster, later drove for HWM, BRM and Vanwall, then for Ferrari. The Ford E93A engines were mildly tuned and many used twin SU's on a cast alloy 'Dellow' manifold. The MkII saw the introduction of a new and much more robust rear chassis section with coil springs, separate telescopic shock absorbers and a Panhard rod. This stiffer chassis allowed doors to become an optional fitting. In total about 300 Dellows were produced are believed to have been constructed in total with this example first registered on the 20th April 1955 to Reginald George Carpenter of 95 Highbury Grove, Cosham, Portsmouth. The vendor advises us that Mr Carpenter used KRV 600 only as a road going car, to travel to and from Portsmouth Dockyard and not used as a competition machine. According to the buff log book which accompanies the car, Mr Carpenter sold the car to the current vendor and registered in the vendors name in 1966, making this a 2 owner car from new! The car has been dry stored since 1973 but was MoT'd as recently as 2008 and represents somewhat of a timewarp example with only 59,000 miles showing with unrepeatable provenance and history.

Daimler Sovereign Series II (4.2 litre)

Lot # 339 (Sale Order: 136 of 153)

Jaguar/Daimler refreshed its six-cylinder XJ saloon and Daimler Sovereign range in 1973 with the introduction of the XJ6 and Daimler Sovereign Series II. The new cars featured a sleeker new bodyshell which had a slimmer front grille, new front air intake below the bumper, new lights and a revised interior. At first the short and long wheel base versions were available, however all cars carried the long wheel base after 1975 and were, once again, powered by the 4.2 litre XJ unit.   Originally registered on 1st August 1978, this long wheel base Daimler has only had two former keepers with the current registered keeper owning her for the last 28 years. Our test drive confirmed this to be a car that has clearly been well looked after throughout the years, the engine ran well with good oil pressure and the automatic transmission operated as it should. This is a very genuine, honest example, very tidy on the inside and a couple of familiar spots of corrosion on the bodywork although these can be easily rectified. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 7th January 2017 (no advisories) together with a good selection of bills and invoices; this Daimler Sovereign is offered at no reserve and is well worth a look. ?

Mercedes-Benz 380 SL

Lot # 340 (Sale Order: 137 of 153)

Introduced early in 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280SL. The body and chassis of the 3rd generation SL were considerably heavier and longer than its predecessor, but still showed a slight resemblance to them. The front and rear axles were similar to those of the 200-250 models, with independent wheel suspension using double wishbones and anti-dive control at the front and a diagonal swing axle at the rear; four-speed automatic transmission was available as an option. The 3.5 litre, V8 engine underwent slight modifications to those being used on other models and the gear shift lever was placed on the floor in the centre of the car. The standard transmission provided a top speed of 130mph and a very respectable 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds. As with the previous generation SL's, the vehicle came as an open roadster with removable hard top roof. The R107 body shape went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz, remaining in production until 1989 with some 13 variants during that period. This superb 380 SL was originally registered on 15th September 1980 and is finished in Birchwood green with matching half leather interior. Our test drive confirmed this to be a Mercedes-Benz of the highest quality; she drove with no known faults. The coachwork is in excellent order throughout as is the interior and chromework. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 16th April 2017 together with a history folder and a hardtop; R107 model SL's are becoming increasingly desirable. A delightful example in every aspect.

Honda NSX

Lot # 341 (Sale Order: 138 of 153)

The Honda NSX was produced between 1990 and 2005 and is equipped with a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout, powered by an all-aluminium V6 engine featuring Honda's Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) system. In 1984, Honda commissioned the Italian car designer Pininfarina to design the HPX (Honda Pininfarina Xperimental), which had a mid-mounted 2.0 litre, V6 configuration. Following Honda's decision to pursue the project, the management informed the engineers that the new car would have to be as good as anything coming from both Italy and Germany. The HPX concept car evolved into the NSX (New Sportscar eXperimental). The original performance target for the NSX was the Ferrari 328; subsequently revised to the 348 as the design neared completion. The bodywork design had been specifically researched after studying the 360° visibility inside an F-16 fighter jet. The car's strong chassis rigidity and handling capabilities were the results of Ayrton Senna's input with NSX's chief engineers while testing the prototype car at Honda's Suzuka Circuit during the development stages. Today the NSX is still considered by owners of the marque as one of the most reliable exotic cars ever manufactured with many examples comfortably exceeding 100,000 miles without serious reliability issues. This particular NSX was an original UK righthand drive car supplied by Whiteside Motors of Barnsley and was first registered on 1st March 1991. A power steering example, presented in red (R77 - N59) with contrasting black leather and currently reading 73,500 miles, this car is supplied with a valid MoT test certificate valid until March, 2017, its original stamped service book, original service handbook pack and a very interesting history file. This mid-engined NSX is currently kept by the owner in a Carcoon and is described as fabulous to drive. This Honda NSX represents, not only a chance for some exciting motoring but a great long-term potential investment especially with the new NSX soon to hit UK roads.?

Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster

Lot # 342 (Sale Order: 139 of 153)

Introduced in 3.8 litre form in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type caused a sensation when it appeared with instantly classic lines and 150mph top speed. While, inevitably, the car's stupendous straight-line performance and gorgeous looks grabbed the headlines, there was a lot more to the E-Type beneath the skin. The newcomer's design owed much to that of the racing D-Type and, indeed, the E-Type would be one of the last great sports cars developed directly from a successful competition ancestor. Just as in the D-Type, a monocoque tub formed the main body/chassis structure while a tubular space frame extended forwards to support the engine. The latter was the same 3.8-litre, triple-carburettor, 'S' unit first offered as an option on the preceding XK150. With a claimed 265 horsepower on tap, the E-Type's performance did not disappoint; firstly, because it weighed around 500lb less than the XK150 and, secondly, because aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer used experience gained with the D-Type to create one of the most elegant and efficient shapes ever to grace a motor car. This exquisite Series I roadster was manufactured on the 28th April 1964 and dispatched to distributor Peter Lindner in Frankfurt, Germany, on the 8th May 1964 with its first owner a Sgt. C McKinzie of the US Forces based in Germany. Highly desirable as it has undergone a nut and bolt restoration deserving of a significant E-Type; it was converted to righthand drive specification and finished in its original and striking colour combination of cream with a contrasting red interior. it also has a black hood with a matching hood cover keeping inclement weather at bay. A V5 document, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, an Operating, Maintenance and Service Handbook and an MoT test certificate valid until March 2017 accompany the car. A superb example, ready to be enjoyed with the roof down on the open road.

BMW Z3M Roadster

Lot # 343 (Sale Order: 140 of 153)

The Z3 was the first modern mass-market roadster produced by BMW as well as the first new BMW model to be assembled in the United States. It was introduced as a 1996 model year vehicle, shortly after being featured in the James Bond movie 'Goldeneye'. While the film was number one at the box office, sales of the car peaked and it was sold out by the time the car was launched. The Z3 was designed by Joji Nagashima of the BMW design team and developed from the E36 platform of the 3-Series. The resulting platform is often referred to as the E36/7(roadster) or E36/8(coupé). When launched, only the 1.9 litre straight four engine was offered, but its 138bhp was not up to expectations. A 2.2 litre engine producing 168bhp was made available for the more enthusiastic driver and in 1997 a powerful six cylinder 2.8 litre engine producing 190bhp was an option, in 1998 the Z3M had a 3.2 litre engine offering more power. It is this 3.2 litre, the most powerful of engine options available here today. Presented in striking Arctic white with a blue and black leather interior, the interior luxuries include electric and heated sports seats, heated door mirrors and air-conditioning. It also comes with its original colour-coded hard-top and, reassuringly, the service history book is stamped from new to 2011 with a brand new service and full 12 month MoT test certificate accompanying this car to the sale. Well priced and enormous fun, this Z3 M Roadster represents extremely good value.

Mercedes-Benz E50 AMG

Lot # 344 (Sale Order: 141 of 153)

The W210 is an executive car produced from 1995 through to 2002. They were sold under the E-Class model names in both saloon and estate body types. Only 2,870 AMG E50's were ever built and only during 1996/97; there was no righthand drive version and the model was not sold in the USA or the UK. There were four engines that AMG installed in the W210, the first was the E36, M104.995, launched in 1996 then the M 119.985 in the Euro Spec E50 AMG produced only in 1997. The body styling on all of the W210 AMG models was the same until 2000 when a facelift and interior upgrades were implemented. The W210 E55 was the last vehicle for which a major portion of production took place at AMG in Affalterbach. Production was actually split between Affalterbach and the Bremen Mercedes-Benz facility until the end of 2001.   This beautifully presented E50 AMG Sport in a rare colour combination, metallic green with black/green two-tone leather trim, this rare European specification example was imported into the UK in 2015 and was only every made in lefthand drive specification and for 1997 only. This stunning example, having only covered around 3,500 miles per year, has a very comprehensive service history with no less than 11 service stamps and with the most recent at 104,000kms (only 65,000 miles) when it was serviced in the UK at a cost of over £400. The car also comes with all its manuals and handbooks.   Offered with a V5 registration certificate and MoT test certificate, this example is very well equipped with front and rear heated seats, rear blind and headrests and even a ski pass-through being the rear arm rest. One of just 2,870 ever made and built in AMG Affalterbach , this model offers 342bhp and is a must for the real Mercedes-Benz enthusiast;  E50 AMG's are certainly not found in this outstanding condition often.

Jaguar XJS Cabriolet

Lot # 346 (Sale Order: 143 of 153)

That Jaguar's XJS will become a 'bona fide' classic is beyond doubt. Launched in 1975, its twenty one year production life was a testimony to the excellence of its basic design. With all round independent, coil sprung suspension, power assisted rack and pinion steering and disc brakes, its excellent ride and handling balance was justly praised by the contemporary motoring press. The XJS's superlative 5.3 litre developed some 295bhp in later fuel injected form and when allied to automatic transmission gave authoritative 150mph performance. The targa element of the car was often preferred over the straight convertible as it added more torsional rigidity and so increased performance. Equipped with appropriate cherished number CAT 175X', this handsome home-market XJS cabriolet is finished in Sage Green with a Doeskin interior. The accompanying history file is extensive and includes invoices, more recently, for front shock absorbers, an MoT test certificate and a full service just 1,000 miles ago. Also included are MoT test certificates dating back to 1990, the original bill of sale from Henlys of Llandudno and large history file, all of which is said to support the indicated mileage of 47,454. The XJS is widely reported as a rising classic of late and solid examples, such as this, should be seriously considered.

Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 Fixedhead Coupé

Lot # 347 (Sale Order: 144 of 153)

The Jaguar E-Type was manufactured between 1961 and 1975 and its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960's motoring. The Series I was introduced, initially for export only in March 1961, the cars at this time used the triple SU carburetted, 3.8 litre six cylinder XK engine from the XK150S. The 3.8 litre engine was increased to 4.2 litres in October 1964, although there was never a fixed specification for this unofficial model, the Series I½, can be recognised by glass-covered headlights (up to 1967), small 'mouth' opening at the front, signal and tail-lights above the bumpers and exhaust tips under the number plate in the rear. The 4.2 litre engine offered increased power and usability whilst retaining the same outward appearance as the earlier cars. This stunning E-Type manufactured in 1966 is the more desirable and usable 4.2 litre Series I variant and has recently benefitted from a restoration.  Work included a respray and engine and gearbox overhaul. Further work included a rebuilt rear axle with new discs, brake pipes, pads and shock absorbers. Brakes were also overhauled along with a new stainless steel exhaust fitted and new chrome wire wheels fitted at each corner and new rubbers. The car is resplendent in red with a beautifully trimmed biscuit interior. Two large files of bills accompany the car from specialists such as SNG Barret and Martin Robey detailing parts and work for the restoration as well as an MoT certificate valid until May 2017 and a V5 document. Beautifully finished and highly usable, this Series I E-Type offers practicality and desirability in 1 complete package.

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II Anniversary

Lot # 348 (Sale Order: 145 of 153)

The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was built from 1965 to 1980 and was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using a monocoque chassis and, to date, has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. The original Shadow was three and a half inches narrower and seven inches shorter than the Silver Cloud which it replaced but managed to offer increased passenger and luggage space thanks to more efficient packaging made possible by its construction. Aside from a more modern appearance, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes instead of drum brakes and independent rear suspension rather than the ageing live axle design of previous cars. In February 1977, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II was introduced. Outwardly the models were identifiable by bumpers with rubber inserts and edges made from polyurethane. The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II Anniversary was then launched when Rolls-Royce existed 75 years; since the company was founded in 1904 the celebration of 75 years of existence took place in 1979. The Silver Shadow II Anniversary can be recognised by red badges on the grille, boot lid and in the door openings. Furthermore, every Anniversary has a plaque in the glove compartment of the dashboard. This Silver Shadow II Anniversary, one of the seventy-five UK cars fitted with red badges, was supplied new by Appleyard Rippon in Leeds and sold to a company based in Sheffield. Originally finished in Moorland green, the car was acquired in 1989 by Royce Services in Bradford, the same year the colour was changed to white and it has been used as a wedding car since. This Shadow II has recently been checked through mechanically and it is reported to drive well. The interior is the original beige Connolly leather and has the anniversary plaque fitted to the glove compartment lid. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in July 2017 and a large history file with old registration documents, MoT certificates, invoices and a set of chassis and test cards provided by the RREC. A very usable Silver Shadow that could be put to work straight away but would benefit from some bodywork over the winter.

MG B Roadster

Lot # 349 (Sale Order: 146 of 153)

The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965. The MGB was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and T-types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Wind-up windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction with a 0-60mph time of just over 11 seconds aided by the relatively light weight of the car. This MGB is finished in tartan red with a black interior and sits proudly on chrome wire wheels. A tonneau cover, soft top and a hardtop are all supplied with SUX 865H, as is a V5C registration document together with a number of previous MoT's. Our investigations have identified this car as being the subject of a total loss claim in November 1990, we have ascertained this is due to the seats and roof being stolen and the car being classed as an uneconomical repair. We are advised by the vendor she drives well with everything operating as it should. Offered at no reserve.?

Ferrari Testarossa

Lot # 350 (Sale Order: 147 of 153)

Introduced at the 1984 Paris Salon, the Testarossa caused a sensation. The functionality of its Pininfarina styled bodywork was disguised by a wealth of flamboyant and futuristic detailing. Developed with the aid of a wind tunnel, it combined a low drag coefficient with impressive negative lift characteristics. The first twelve-cylinder Ferrari to be marketed in America for a decade, the new flagship was of vital importance to Maranello. Although it was built around a similar tubular steel matrix, it retained the same mid-engined layout as its Berlinetta Boxer forebears. The Testarossa was more than just a simple evolution, its use of galvanised steel for the doors, roof and bulkheads promised greater longevity while a longer wheelbase, wider track and revised all-round double-wishbone coil-over suspension promoted better handling. As well as greater interior space, drivers also benefited from an adjustable steering column, re-profiled seats and air conditioning. Mounting the drive train and rear suspension on a separate sub-frame meant better noise insulation and easier servicing. The switch from a large front-mounted radiator to twin units housed in front of each rear resulted in more efficient cooling and less heat soak. Extensively reworked, the 4942cc, flat-12 developing some 390bhp and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Highly praised by the contemporary motoring press, Autocar magazine found the Testarossa capable of 181mph and 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds. Presented in what many believe to be the best combination of Ferrari Rosso red with black leather interior, this low mileage Testarossa is described by the vendor as a beautiful example. Having spent much of its life in Japan, the car has since been imported to the UK for the vendor who immediately commissioned Verdi Ferrari to undergo a full vehicle inspection and full cam belt service for which the invoice can be found in the history file. Unfortunately, the original service book has been misplaced but invoices are available with photographs of previous service works undertaken and we are assured the car is mechanically sound. Having covered less than 10,000 miles and UK registered, this example can be considered a genuine collector's example and is sure to attract attention, not only from the UK but also from Europe and further afield, with the assurance of a Ferrari specialist's inspection and servicing. Viewing is certainly advised. ?

Range Rover Classic LSE

Lot # 351 (Sale Order: 148 of 153)

The first generation Range Rover was produced between 1970 and 1996 and was not designed as a luxury-type 4x4; while certainly up-market compared to preceding Land Rover models, the early Range Rovers had fairly basic, utilitarian interiors with vinyl seats and plastic dashboards designed to be washed down with a hose. Features such as power-assisted steering, carpeted floors, air-conditioning, cloth/leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later. The Range Rover was a body-on-frame design with a box section ladder type chassis, similar to contemporary Land Rovers. The utilised coil springs as opposed to leaf springs, permanent four-wheel drive and four-wheel disc brakes and was originally powered by the Rover V8 engine. Air suspension was available from 1992 at the same time the LSE (Long wheel base) model was introduced creating additional eight inches legroom for the passengers.  This LSE specification example has a strong history to its name, all contained within the file. With just four previous owners, it presents in good order throughout. In 2011, it underwent a full rear brake disc and pad replacement with a new front calliper. The following year, track rod ends and front shock absorbers were replaced. In fact in recent years, much care and investment has been undertaken through marque specialists, Dingocroft of High Wycombe. In classic Range Rover burgundy with a contrasting tan interior, this example drives well and with no known faults, has a recent MoT test certificate and service. A well-sorted Classic.

Mercedes-Benz E320 Coupé

Lot # 352 (Sale Order: 149 of 153)

The W124 is the Mercedes-Benz internal chassis-designation for the 1984 to 1995/96 version of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, a mid-sized car with exceptionally high build quality. Much of the 124's engineering and many of its features were considered advanced in the field of automotive technology at its introduction, incorporating innovations that have been adopted throughout the industry. It had a single windscreen wiper that had an eccentric mechanism at its base that extended the wiper's reach to the top corners of the windscreen. Fuel injection was standard and the engines incorporated features that maximised performance such as an oxygen sensor in the exhaust system which could make the engine run more efficiently. This handsome E320 Coupé was supplied to the first of its four private owners by Brunswick Mercedes-Benz of Croydon at a total cost of just over £48,500 and registered on 4th March 1994. Mercedes-Benz 220 S Fintail Saloon

Lot # 353 (Sale Order: 150 of 153)

The Mercedes-Benz W111 was a chassis code given to its top-range vehicles, including four-door saloon and produced from 1959 to 1968 and two-door coupés and cabriolets from 1961 to 1971. Design of a replacement for the two-door Pontons began in 1957 as most of the chassis and drivetrain were to be unified with the saloon with the emphasis was on the exterior styling. Some of the mockups and prototypes show that Mercedes-Benz attempted to give the two-door car a front styling similar to the Pagoda roadster. The rear bodywork however persisted and, as such though officially still called a 'fintail', the rear end design had no chrome fin highlights. Production began in late 1960 and in February of the next year the coupé was premiered in Stuttgart for the 75th anniversary of the opening of Mercedes-Benz Museum. The convertible followed at the Frankfurt Motor Show a few months later; the car was almost identical to the coupé with the soft-top roof folded into a recess behind the rear seat and covered by a tightly fitting bag. Unlike the previous generation of two-door ponton series, there was only one model for the two-door vehicle, the 220 SE on both versions, with the identical 2195cc engine.   This original, rust free, righthand drive Mercedes-Benz 220 S Fintail saloon was originally supplied new to South Africa, recently imported to the UK the car was taken to the Mercedes-Benz specialists SS Motors in Weybridge where it was checked through and recommissioned. Finished in cream with red interior, this 220 S Fintail will be supplied with UK registration and a MoT test certificate. A great opportunity to purchase a piece of Mercedes-Benz history that is not only very useable but offers style, grace and comfort. ?
