1938 Bentley 4_ Litre MR Overdrive

Lot # 147 (Sale Order: 52 of 88)

By the end of the 1930s the …Derby Bentley, introduced towards the beginning of that decade following the firms take-over by Rolls-Royce, had undergone a number of significant developments, not the least of which was an increase in bore size in 1936 that upped the capacity to 4,257cc; a move that coincided with the adoption of superior Halls Metal bearings. This new engine was shared with the equivalent Rolls-Royce – the 25/30hp – and as had been the case with the preceding 3_ litre model, enjoyed a superior specification in Bentley form, boasting twin SU carburettors, raised compression ratio and a more sporting camshaft. Thus the new 4_ litre model offered more power than before while retaining the well-proven chassis with its faultless gear-change and servo-assisted brakes. The construction of modern highways in Continental Europe, enabling cars to travel at sustained high speeds, that had prompted the introduction of the Halls Metal bearings, would lead eventually to the adoption of an …overdrive gearbox, improved steering and lubrication system on Bentleys …Silent Sports Car, with the introduction of the …MR series cars in 1938. This car has chassis number B28MR and is therefore the 28th such car.The Derby Bentley was, of course, an exclusively coachbuilt automobile. Of the 2,442 manufactured, almost 50 percent were bodied by Park Ward in a limited number of styles. This particular example though was bodied by H.J. Mulliner as one of a handful of …High Vision saloons built by them; it was exhibited on their stand at the 1938 Earls Court Motor Show and is thought to be the only example with a full Perspex roof over the front seats, rather than just a small strip. It is also said to be the highest priced Derby Bentley ever sold; possibly because of the high price of Perspex, which had only been invented a few years earlier.View 1938 Bentley 4_ Litre MR Overdrive on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1938-bentley-4%c2%bc-litre-mr-overdrive' for further details.

1972 Rolls-Royce Corniche

Lot # 148 (Sale Order: 53 of 88)

Recalling the firms glamorous Grandes Routi’åres of pre-war days such as the Phantom II Continental, the coachbuilt variants of the new Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and T-Series Bentley were limited to just two: a two-door coup’© or similar convertible, the former arriving in March 1966 and the latter in September the following year. Some of the frontal panels were shared with the standard four-door saloon but otherwise the new bodyshells were unique, featuring a distinctive dipping upper wing line with parallel crease, and revised, more rounded posterior. Construction involved shuttling the bodyshells between the Crewe factory and H J Mulliner Park Wards Willesden plant, a necessarily lengthy process that took all of 20 weeks for the saloon and slightly longer for the more complex convertible. These exclusive cars were hand built in the best traditions of British coachbuilding using only materials of the finest quality including Wilton carpeting, Connolly hide and burr walnut veneers, such painstaking attention to detail resulting in a price some 50% higher than that of the standard Silver Shadow. Nevertheless, demand for these more glamorous alternatives to the much more numerous four-door model was strong right from the start, a state of affairs that resulted in them being given their own model name – …Corniche – in March 1971. In Corniche form Rolls-Royces well-tried 6.7-litre V8 produced around 10% more power than standard and proved capable of propelling the car to a top speed in excess of 120mph with sports car-beating acceleration to match. Despite its sky-high asking price, the model proved a major success for Rolls-Royce; periodically revised and up-dated, it remained in production well into the 1990s, the last (Convertible) examples being delivered in 1995. Easily one of the most recognisable models built by Rolls Royce, most people have seen a Corniche Convertible on television, in movies or on exotic locations around the world. As a sportier model than the Shadow, the Corniche features a rev. counter, 10% more engine power, and uprated suspension. This beautiful early example was first registered in October 1972, supplied by Mann Egerton and Co. of London. The Bentley has clearly been very well kept over the years, which is supported by Rolls Royce history of maintenance works completed. In recent times the Corniche has enjoyed a cosmetic refresh, and now looks truly resplendent in Claret Metallic with a magnolia leather interior. Offered in excellent order in all respects, a wonderful car to own and a delight to drive.View 1972 Rolls Royce Corniche on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1972-rolls-royce-corniche' for further details.

1971 Lotus Elan S4

Lot # 149 (Sale Order: 54 of 88)

The original Elan 1500 was introduced in 1962 as a roadster. After a very short production run of just 22 cars the engine was enlarged and the car was redesignated the Elan 1600. An optional hardtop was offered in 1963 and a coup’© version in 1965. The two-seat Lotus Elan replaced the elegant, but unreliable and expensive to produce Lotus Elite. It was the first Lotus road car to use a steel backbone chassis with a fibreglass body. At 726 kg, the Elan embodied the Colin Chapman minimum weight design philosophy. Initial versions of the Elan were also available as a kit to be assembled by the customer. The Elan was technologically advanced with a DOHC 1557 cc engine, 4-wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, and 4-wheel independent suspension. Gordon Murray, designer of the McLaren F1 supercar, reportedly said that his only disappointment with the McLaren F1 was that he couldnt give it the perfect steering of the Lotus Elan. The car presented here today was taken off the road some 38 years ago by the previous owner, awaiting the time for a full restoration. The then owner never managed to find the time and hence the car remained off the road for such a long period. In 2012 the current vendor liberated the Elan and set about a complete nut and bolt restoration. This extensive bare chassis rebuild took over two and a half years to complete, a testament to the dedication and precision of the work carried out.The car is now said to be in excellent condition throughout and there is a large history file with supporting photographs for all the work carried out. Finished in Cirrus white with contrasting black interior, this is a near-concourse condition car ready to be taken to shows or used daily. The car benefits from a current MOT and UK V5C registration.View 1971 Lotus Elan S4 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1971-lotus-elan-s4' for further details.

1986 Porsche 911 3.2 Cabriolet

Lot # 150 (Sale Order: 55 of 88)

A …modern classic if ever there was one, Porsches long-running 911 arrived in 1964, replacing the 356. The latters rear-engined layout was retained, but the 911 switched to unitary construction for the bodyshell and dropped the 356s VW-based suspension in favour of a more modern McPherson strut and trailing arm arrangement. In its first incarnation, Porsches single-overhead-camshaft, air-cooled flat six displaced 1,991cc and produced 130bhp; progressively enlarged and developed, it would eventually grow to more than 3 litres and, in turbo-charged form, put out well over 300 horsepower.Porsches first take on a 911 convertible had been the Targa model of 1965, a …halfway house design chosen because of fears that a genuine soft-top would not meet US Federal safety regulations, but by 1981 the company felt able to proceed with the genuine article. Introduced in normally aspirated 3.0-litre form in 1982, the 911 Cabriolet lost little, if any, rigidity with the deletion of the Targa roll-over bar, while its speedily raised/lowered top featured a detachable, zip-fastened rear window. Introducing a …proper soft-top proved to be a shrewd move by Porsche, as sales immediately exceed those of the Targa version, and the popular Cabriolet continued when the …Carrera name was applied to all 911 models in 1983, co-incidentally with the introduction of the 3.2-litre engine. Not merely enlarged, the new engine was also extensively revised and produced 231bhp, 27 horsepower up on its predecessor. The 911 Carreras top speed was now 152mph, with 100mph reachable in a breathtaking 13.6 seconds.Finished in Stone grey with black interior, this 3.2-litre Carrera Cabriolet was subject to a restoration that finished in 2015, when the car was subject to a respray. The leather interior is reported to be in equally good order. Recently serviced this right hand drive 3.2 offers exceptional value and is offered with a realistic reserve.View 1986 Porsche 911 3.2 Cabriolet on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1986-porsche-911-3-2-cabriolet-5' for further details.

1951 Bentley Mark VI

Lot # 151 (Sale Order: 56 of 88)

Few cars lend themselves so well to the creation of modified and fast special tourers as the Bentley Mark VI, and no exponent of such modification is more celebrated than Syd Lawrence. Syd Lawrence was a talented engineer whose apprenticeship with General Motors was disrupted by World War One. He subsequently worked for Bentley Motors under Nobby Clark and Anzani before setting-up on his own at premises in Southgate, North London. Well known in Bentley circles, Lawrences workshop soon became a Mecca for those owners who had been previously struggling to keep their cars running on a diminishing stock of original parts.Chassis B35KL was supplied new in March 1951 as a 4 _ litre Standard Steel Saloon to a Mr P.J. Offenheimer of Holborn Viaduct, London.Later, this fabulous example is believed to have become the first Special modified by Lawrence around a Mark VI chassis. Known as “SLO1 (being Syd Lawrences original prototype MkVI chassis) the Special travelled to its next owner, a Mr. Trotter in Beverley Hills California, for many years before being repatriated in the late 1980s and into the ownership of well-known British Bentley collector John Donner.Donner embarked upon a no-expenses spared project to develop a comfortable and fast tourer to be known as …The Millennium Bentley. The Special body was removed (later fitted onto another documented Special “BDP 218) and the chassis was stripped and rebuilt by Eric Healey of well-known Healey Brothers of Irthlingborough in Northamptonshire. The engine was rebuilt, as were the gearbox and running gear. Pleasingly, and unlike many specials, period Derby Bentley splined knock-on wire wheels were supplied by Bob Peterson, which really add to the period feel of the Mark VI. Inspired by the iconic SS100 sports cars of the 1930s, a brand new alloy body was built by Nostalgia Cars of Honiton in Devon, a well-respected restorer and coachbuilder renowned for their evocations of 1950s Jaguar sportscars.Unfortunately John Donner passed away during the extensive build, and it fell to the family to have the car completed, before ownership passed to the cousin of well-known enthusiast Earl of March, who drove the car for under 2000 miles in 10 years of ownership. In more recent times the car has been repainted, the gearbox and brakes overhauled, and period Marchall headlamps with matching side lamps fitted. The Special is recorded in Ray Roberts standard work, …Bentley Specials and Special Bentleys (pages 255/256). As a result of all this hard work the car won the Patina Category in the Bentley Drivers Club Concours in 2012.In the current ownership the car has enjoyed a refresh by Hillier Hill, and a rev. counter has been fitted, as have a new tonneau and hood in black double duck.Finished in Verdant Green (the colour of the 2001 Bentley Le Mans EXP8 car) with a tan leather interior, and offered with a substantial history file, this is truly an elegant and exhilarating car to be driven and enjoyed to the full. Possibly finest MKVI Special on the market today.View 1951 Bentley Mark VI – Syd Lawrence “SL01 Special on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1951-bentley-mark-vi-syd-lawrence-sl01-special' for further details.

1978 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4

Lot # 152 (Sale Order: 57 of 88)

Introduced at the 1973 Paris Motor Show, the Dino 308 GT4 was a significant departure for Ferrari in several ways. It was the first production car from Modena to feature a mid-engined V8, a layout that would become common to their core range for decades to come, along with the first production model to feature Bertone styling rather than Pininfarina bodywork. The styling was controversial at the time, with some journalists comparing it to the Bertone-designed Lancia Stratos and Lamborghini Urraco. The chassis was based on the Dino 246 but was stretched to make space for a 2+2 Configuration. The 3.0 Litre V8 was integrally joined with the gearbox and had an alloy block and head with dual overhead camshafts fed through 4 Weber 40 DCNF carburettors. The GT4 was replaced by the Mondial 8 in 1980 after a production run of 2,826 308s and 840 208s.Making its name in the racing world at the fabled Le Mans in 1974 the GT4 was entered by N.A.R.T and was unusually featured in the prototype class, obviously a miss match for the Ferrari it failed to compete at a high level, the car finished at the end of a long list of …DNFs making for a poor first outing at the renowned event. Returning with the GT4 in 1975 the car was once again entered into seemingly the wrong class rather than the more appropriate GT class. Up against overwhelming opponents such as the Porsche 908 the Ferrari was deemed to slow and disqualified by the Automobile Club de lOuest. Ironically, the GT4s place was taken by a French car with even higher lap times! Almost certainly the reason Chinetti withdrew all of the N.A.R.T cars from the race, just minutes before the start. This particular example has been built to resemble the …GT4 LM of its era and has the colour scheme to match. The car is equipped with a MSA approved roll cage, an uprated suspension system along with shock absorbers and wishbones. An uprated oil cooler and a racing style bucket seat with harnesses are also equipped with the car. Also offered is a comprehensive service history along with many bills and invoices that show this car has been maintained well in the past and includes a bill of around £30,000 for recent work including a recent engine rebuild. Road legal and race prepared the GT4 resembles and fantastic opportunity to race in the competitive Ferrari Formula Classic series.View 1978 Ferrari Dino 308GT4 Race car on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1978-ferrari-dino-308gt4-race-car' for further details.

1969 Porsche 911 Targa

Lot # 153 (Sale Order: 58 of 88)

A …modern classic if ever there was one, Porsches long-running 911 arrived in 1964, replacing the 356 that had secured the fledgling companys reputation as producer of some the worlds finest sporting cars. The iconic 911 would take this reputation to an even more exulted level on both the road and racetrack. The 356s rear-engined layout was retained but the 911 switched to unitary construction for the bodyshell and dropped the 356s VW-based suspension in favour of a more modern McPherson strut and trailing arm arrangement. In its first incarnation, Porsches single-overhead-camshaft, air-cooled flat six displaced 1,991cc and produced 130bhp; progressively enlarged and developed, it would eventually grow to more than 3.0 litres and, in turbo-charged form, put out well over 300 horsepower. The first of countless upgrades came in 1966 with the introduction of the 911S. Easily distinguishable by its stylish Fuchs five-spoked alloy wheels, the …S featured a heavily revised engine producing 160bhp, the increased urge raising top speed by 10mph to 135mph. A lengthened wheelbase introduced in 1969 improved the 911s sometimes wayward handling, and then in 1970 the engine underwent the first of many enlargements, to 2.2 litres, in which form it produced 180bhp on Bosch mechanical fuel injection when installed in the top-of-the-range …S model. Two years after the original coup’©s introduction, a convertible 911 – the …Targa, named in honour of Porsches numerous victories in the Sicilian classic – arrived in 1966. Expected US safety legislation had prompted an ingenious approach to the soft-top 911, the Targa sporting a hefty roll-over bar to protect the occupants in the event of an inversion, together with removable roof and rear hood sections, which were stowed in the boot. For 1969 a quieter and less leak-prone fixed rear window replaced the less than perfect rear hood, and the ever-popular Targa would continue in this form well into the 1990s, sharing countless mechanical and styling developments with its closed cousin along the way. The much loved and instantly recognisable original Targa finally bowed out at the end of the 1990s when the Cabriolet became the sole open-topped 911 with the introduction of the Type 996 range for 1999.The motor car on offer today forms part of an active and significant international collection, used regularly this lovely example benefits from the full-time attention of the collection specialists and really wants for very little if anything at all. Equipped with a five-speed gearbox this lovely albert blue on black example is supplied with numerous bills and invoices along with other documentation. Throughout its constant and full-time maintenance programme it is likely to be one of the healthiest examples of its type.View 1969 Porsche 911 Targa on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/18727' for further details.

1963 Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon

Lot # 154 (Sale Order: 59 of 88)

The last Bentley to be built on a separate chassis, in 1962, saw the introduction of the Bentley S3 factory bodied standard steel saloon and at first glance it would appear that the all new S3 was merely an S2 with different headlamps. The introduction of the twin headlamps was clearly the most obvious change but the differences did not end there.Further changes included the introduction of smaller bumper overriders and the repositioning of the front indicators and side lamps into one single unit on the front wing resulting in an arguably more attractive appearance. The S3s interior now had individual front seats in place of the split bench seat found in the earlier S types; some, like this one, had air conditioning, electric windows and front seat belts. Mechanically speaking the S3 was the same as the S2 with a 6230cc Rolls-Royce V8 engine and automatic gearbox but this model was fitted with larger carburettors, improved power steering to aid smoother movement at parking speed and a Lucas vacuum-advance distributor to aid fuel consumption making it almost identical in mechanical specification to the S3 Continental that was being produced at the same time.Delivered in 1963, this Bentley S3 is finished in the highly attractive colour combination of Sterling Silver with a Wine Red Leather interior. Offered with a UK V5 document, this is a good opportunity for the Bentley enthusiast and we feel excellent value in the current market.View 1963 Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1963-bentley-s3-standard-steel-saloon' for further details.

1986 Porsche 911 Turbo

Lot # 155 (Sale Order: 61 of 88)

Beginning in the early 1970s, Porsche had demonstrated the worth of an exhaust-driven turbine for developing tremendous power for a given engine displacement, astounding the racing community with its World Endurance Championship-winning 917s. The company was quick to adapt turbocharging to its Group 4 Type 934 and Group 5 Type 935 racing coupes, basing those ferocious machines on the street-driven Type 930. Throughout the later 1970s and into the 1980s, the 930 evolved into an ever-more sophisticated, luxurious, and powerful road car. By 1987, the Turbo boasted a 3.3-liter engine, which was connected to a smooth four-speed manual transaxle and could produce 282 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 289 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 rpm, The ventilated brake rotors were drilled for increased efficiency, and a large intercooler was housed within the “Tea-tray rear spoiler. The 1987 930 Turbo, of which 1,695 were built for the U.S. market and another 786 for the “Rest of the World (RoW), was capable of a near-160 mph top speed. Type 930. 282 bhp, 3,164 cc SOHC horizontally opposed air-cooled six-cylinder engine with a single turbocharger and Bosch electronic fuel injection, Type 930/36 four-speed manual transmission, independent front and rear suspension, and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. This beautiful original Porsche 911 Turbo is finished in the traditional Porsche colour scheme of Grand Prix white, complemented by a black leather interior. This Turbo is described by the vendor as being in good all-round condition and is supplied with the four speed gearbox a UK V5C Document and an Mot until June 2018 amongst other paper work included in the history file. 1966 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2

Lot # 156 (Sale Order: 62 of 88)

The 330 GT 2+2 was launched at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1964 as an intended replacement for the successful 250 GTE. It was powered by the 209 engine previously used in the 400 Superamerica, which with various improvements but slight detuning now yielded around 330bhp.The wheelbase was about two inches longer than that of the 250, and Koni adjustable shock absorbers were fitted as standard. The bodywork of the 330 was altogether …sweeter and more essential than that of its predecessor, and had a particularly attractive sharpness of line. The car was also spacious and comfortable, living up well to its …GT denomination.Paul Frere, the noted Belgian racing driver and automotive journalist, road tested a 2+2 late in 1966. He came away suitably impressed: “In handling, this car is exactly like all Ferraris which I have driven before _ It is close to being as neutral as one could want_ But the most impressive feature of the handling of the 330 is the solidness with which it changes direction, particularly in s-bends, where it tracks with about the same precision as a modern race car. This lovely example that left the Maranello factory in December of 1966 and is presented in stunning black with tan hide interior. The car was owned and driven by a number of various keepers in the United States and America before being imported and sold in the United Kingdom in the summer of 2015, where is was purchased by the current vendor.Since arrival in the United Kingdom the vendor has completed some important restoration and upgrades with the help of Marque specialist GTO Engineering, invoices on file show circa £22,000 having been spent since 2015, with some £18,000 of that with the previously mentioned specialist. Work includes improved and rebuilt steering column, new exhaust pipes and silencers, clutch master cylinder, newly fashioned column switch and indicator stalk. Interior upholstery was also done at this time with new door panels and cleaning of leather seats and trim. The car is offered on a UK V5 registration, with a current MoT valid until August 2017 and a dating letter from Ferrari Classiche department in Maranello. The vendor has informed us that the well suited number plate 33 OF is to be included in the sale of the Ferrari. These iconic Italian sports cars are much sought after, and this 2+2 is no exception. A left hand drive example, now UK registered with recent work carried out by a well respected Marque specialist. These Ferraris were the envy of many in the 1960s, and remain so to this day. 1978 MERCEDES-BENZ 450SLC

Lot # 156A (Sale Order: 63 of 88)

The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 were produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1971 through 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by the automaker, after the G-...moreClass. They were sold under the SL (R107) and SLC (C107) model names as the 280 SL, 280 SLC, 300 SL, etc. up to the 560 SL. The SLC (C107) derivative was a 2 door hardtop coupe with normal rear seats. The SLC is commonly referred to as an ‘SL coupe’, and this was the first time that Mercedes-Benz had based a coupe on an SL roadster platform rather than on a saloon, replacing the former saloon-based 280/300 SE coupé in Mercedes lineup. The SLC had a shorter production run compared to the roadsters which meant that less than an eighth of the 107 chassis were built as 450 SLC’s, the most part ending up in America, making this low mileage RHD example on offer here today a very desirable car. Purchased by its current custodian in 1982, this beautifully preserved example of the ever appreciating W107 has been used by the family as a ‘secondary’ car receiving regular yet sparing use until this day. Having always been stored in a climate controlled garage, this special 450 SLC is described to be in good overall condition throughout! Delivered new on the 1st of August 1978 and finished in blue with light brown velour interior, this car has travelled less than 50,000 miles in total and only 15,000 miles since it was purchased by its current custodian in 1982. Verifying the mileage, included in the history file are every previous MOT since 1981, the latest due to expire on the 10th of April 2018. All proceeds of this Lot will be donated to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution who have saved an incredible 140,000 lives since its foundation, at the cost of 600 lives lost in service.

1926 Bugatti Type 37

Lot # 158 (Sale Order: 65 of 88)

Originally the Land Rover was a single model offering, which from 1948 until 1951 used an 80-inch (2,000 mm) wheelbase and a 1.6-litre petrol engine producing around 50 bhp. The four-speed gearbox from the Rover P3 was used, with a new two-speed transfer box. This incorporated an unusual four-wheel-drive system, with a freewheel unit (as used on several Rover cars of the time). This disengaged the front axle from the manual transmission on the overrun, allowing a form of permanent 4WD. A ring-pull mechanism in the driverês footwell allowed the freewheel to be locked to provide more traditional 4WD. This was a basic vehicle: tops for the doors and a roof (canvas or metal) were optional extras. In 1950, the lights moved from a position behind the grille to protruding through the grille.

1991 Porsche 964 Turbo

Lot # 159 (Sale Order: 66 of 88)

In 1952 and 1953, a larger 2.0-litre petrol engine was fitted. This engine has Siamese bores, meaning that there are no water passages for cooling between the cylinders. During 1950, the unusual semi-permanent 4WD system was replaced with a more conventional setup, with drive to the front axle being taken through a simple dog clutch. Around this time the Land Roverês legal status was also clarified. As mentioned above, the Land Rover was originally classed as a commercial vehicle, meaning it was free from purchase tax. However, this also meant it was limited to a speed of 30 mph on British roads. After an appeal to the Law Lords after an owner was charged with exceeding this limit, the Land Rover was classified as a –multi-purpose vehicle” which was only to be classed as a commercial vehicle if used for commercial purposes.

1993 Mini ERA Turbo Sports Saloon

Lot # 162 (Sale Order: 69 of 88)

The ERA Mini Turbo is a modified Mini city car that was produced by Engineering Research & Application Ltd. under the ERA brand name from 1989 to 1991 at Dunstable in Bedfordshire, England. The fastest-ever version of the original Mini to be sold through official dealers, it has been described as “the spiritual successor to the Cooper and the 1275 GT.To create the car ERA installed a turbocharged Austin Rover A-Series 1300 MG Metro engine, which produced 94 bhp and gave the car a claimed top speed of 115 mph. The body kit was styled by Dennis Adams, who also designed the Marcos sports cars and the Probe concept car.The interior used MG Metro front seats trimmed in Connolly Leather hide, VDO instruments in an ERA-designed dash panel, pile carpeting, and a sunroof. Torque steer, common in a front-wheel drive layout, is mitigated by greater front-wheel toe-out and specially-made lower front suspension arms that provided 1.5 degrees of negative camber. The 6 x 13 aluminium alloy wheels were shod with wider 165 section low-profile tyres. The servo-assisted braking system had Metro ventilated discs and four-pot calipers at the front, with modified drums at the rear. The car featured adjustable shock absorbers all round, and the ride height was lowered.A total of 436 ERA Mini Turbos were produced in total. The Japanese in particular were and indeed still are huge fans of the Mini, and such many of the ERA Turbos found their way to Japan over the years. One of only 157 examples painted in red, the low mileage example you see here is no exception, having only recently been repatriated into the UK. Having spent so long in a kind climate the bodywork is presented very well, the soft grey leather is unmarked and in excellent condition, and the five-spoke alloy wheels have recently been refurbished. The little ERA is said to be huge fun to drive, which comes as no surprise with a powerful turbocharged engine, lightweight body and nimble chassis.Offered with a UK V5 document, fresh MoT certificate and a selection of period brochures and road tests, this ERA Turbo is a hugely enjoyable car which can only appreciate in value.View 1993 Mini ERA Turbo Sports Saloon on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1993-mini-era-turbo-sports-saloon' for further details.

1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTC

Lot # 163 (Sale Order: 70 of 88)

After world war ll Alfa Romeo were able to return to manufacturing Italian automobiles, however a new model was not launched until 1950. The new design being the 1900, a twin overhead cam 1859cc 4-cylinder saloon. However, it was the second model produced that proved significant, the guilietta of 1954, a 2+2 by bertone. The vehicle was powered by a light alloy 1290cc dohc four cylinder. Named “sprint it was fittingly capable of high speeds for its engine size reaching 102mph. Design by Orazio Satta Puliga, an engineer who had joined Alfa in 1938 and succeeded Wilfredo Ricart as head of design in 1946.The Berlina model hit the production line in 1955, and soon afterwards a Spider convertible by Pininfarina was available. In 1957, two limited-production models were added, the Sprint Speciale by Bertone, and the Sprint Zagato by that Milanese coachbuilder. In 1962 alfa Romeo introduced the Giuliettas successor, the Guilia a Sprint GT coupe version which followed in 1963, with engines available in many different specifications. The suspension had been tweaked and disc brakes were added all around.Just 1,000 GTCs were built from 1964 to 1966, most of them left-hand drive models. This particular example presented in white with a black interior is a rare right-hand drive example of which just 99 where ever built for the right hand drive market. Recently being recommissioned including a full respray of the body the car is said to be in good all-round condition. Supplied with an old style V5C registration document and a period buff log book, this is surely the one of the only opportunities to acquire such a rare example finished in easily the most desirable colour combination.View 1965 Alfa Romeo Guilia GTC on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1965-alfa-romeo-guilia-gtc' for further details.

1969 FORD ESCORT MK1 – RACE/RALLY PREPARED

Lot # 164A (Sale Order: 72 of 88)

The Ford Escort Mk I was introduced in 1967 and was a commercial success in many parts of Western Europe. However, in the UK it was the best-selling car during the 1960s....more In June 1974, less than six years after the car’s UK introduction, Ford announced the completion of the two millionth Ford Escort, a milestone unmatched by any Ford model outside the USA. The Escort used a brand new unitary construction body shell and came with a choice of 1098cc or 1298cc four cylinder, overhead valve engines. It also featured contemporary styling cues in tune with its time: a subtle Detroit-inspired “Coke bottle” waistline and the “dogbone” shaped front grille arguably the car’s most famous stylistic feature. The Escorts became very successful as a rally car and they eventually went on to become one of the most successful rally cars of all time. The Ford works team was practically unbeatable in the late 1960s / early 1970s and, arguably, the Escort’s greatest victory was in the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally being driven by Finnish legend Hannu Mikkola. This Escort has been repatriated from South Africa, where it was prepared for motorsport use. The Escort is supplied with the relevant NOVA for UK registration in addition to South African shipping papers. A great, cost effective way to get into Historic Motorsport.

* Regretfully Withdrawn* 1982 Porsche 911 3.3 Turbo

Lot # 165 (Sale Order: 73 of 88)

Much of the Porsche 911s development had resulted from the factorys racing program. It was the period Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built, that spurred the development of …Project 930: the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0-liter Carrera RSR engine in road trim, a combination that delivered 260bhp for a top speed of 155mph. But the Turbo wasnt just about top speed, it was also the best-equipped 911 and amazingly flexible – only four speeds in the gearbox. It was capable of racing from a standstill to 100mph in 14 seconds. The Porsche 930 Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age.As one of the most raw and unbridled cars available on the market in its day, the 930 Turbo has rightfully earned its place as a legend. It is quite rare to find an example as in excellent order as this one. Imported over from the United States by the current ( 5th owner from new) the car has only been used during the summer months.Unbelievably, the car has had over 50,000 dollars spent improving its performance and has only covered a mere 3,000 miles from a complete engine rebuild in 2012. Fitted with 3.4 litre pistons and selves, quick spooling K27 turbo with tail wastegate, RUF BTR clutch, lightweight flywheel , SC cams and B&B headewrs with SS dual exhausts. We are informed the engine has been tuned conservatively as is near impossible to hurt, but with still tons of untapped BHP if required. This European specification 930 Turbo Coupe presents in beautiful condition throughout. The cars history file attests to much maintenance and service work performed; making it a fine young-timer Porsche for the budding collector or enthusiast. Highly usable and entertaining to drive, these Porsches remain among the most iconic post-war automobiles.View 1982 Porsche 911 3.3 Turbo on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1982-porsche-911-3-3-turbo-3' for further details.

1956 Fiat Multipla 600

Lot # 166 (Sale Order: 74 of 88)

As Italys population took to the road again after the Second World War, there was a growing demand for practical yet affordable transport. The Fiat 600 was already a bestseller by 1956, when the Multipla was first launched, but the new model soon found a loyal following of its own.Designed to fulfil the needs of larger families and commercial users, the 600 Multipla was created by the engineering genius Dante Giacosa. Giacosas design was truly a feat of engineering packaging. By advancing the passenger compartment over the front wheels and moving the engine to the rear, he created one of the first successful monospace cars and was able to extract six seats from a car that was only 11 feet and 6.9 inches long!First produced on the 27th of March 1956 as can be seen by its FIAT Certificate of Origin that can be found in the cars history file, this Multipla 600 is a wonderful example of one of the rarer 1st series examples. The car underwent a …labour of love restoration overseen by its private owner over many years and was completed in 2016, and now a year later it is offered for sale.View 1956 Fiat Multipla 600 1st series on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1956-fiat-multipla-600-1st-series' for further details.

1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV

Lot # 167 (Sale Order: 75 of 88)

Launched in 1963, the first of Alfa Romeos Bertone-styled coup’©s – the 1.6-litre Giulia Sprint GT – featured classically stylish four-seater coachwork designed by Bertones Giorgetto Giugiaro, though this was now manufactured not by Bertone but at Alfas new factory at Arese. Beneath the skin, the new two-door coup’© utilised the recently introduced 105-Series Giulia TI saloons five-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension, coil-sprung live rear axle and – early cars excepted – all round disc brakes. The Sprint GT came with 106bhp on tap (up from the TIs 92bhp courtesy of two twin-choke Weber carburettors) an output sufficient for a top speed of around 112mph. Improvements to the inlet ports characterised the more-powerful (109bhp) engine of the Sprint GTV (or GT Veloce) introduced for 1965. A 1300 model – the GT Junior – arrived in 1966 and the range was further extended the following year by the launch of the 1750GTV, The latter powered by a 1,799cc, 118bhp version of Alfas classic twin-cam four, housed in a four-headlamp version of the existing bodyshell running on 14 – down from 15 – wheels. A short-lived but nonetheless popular model, the 1750GTV underwent a minor mechanical and styling revision part way through production before being replaced by the 2000 version in 1972. Drivers cars par excellence in the Alfa Romeo tradition, Bertones timelessly elegant Giulia coup’©s are among the most exciting sports saloons of the 1960s and today all versions are highly sought after. This stunning example is an original UK RHD car supplied in …Giallo Ocra, purchased by the vendor in barn find condition some three years ago. Marque specialist Velocesport were commissioned to undertake the restoration of the car, which had been off the road and hidden for over 20 years.Between 2014 and 2016, Velocesport sympathetically restored the GTV using as much of the original trim and interior parts as possible, with only those parts beyond repair being replaced. Finished in …Faggio dark aubergine and trimmed in …Cinghiale tan, with refurbished wheels and hub caps replaced. The underside has been sealed and wax oiled and the carburettors have been rebuilt and all necessary engine parts replaced. It is currently fitted with series one specification parts on the interior and exterior. The car is showing 78,000 miles on the clock and this is thought to be genuine due to the car being in barn find condition for so long, but has no history to verify this. The car comes with a UK V5C registration document and has a current MOT, valid until January 2018. The vendor informs us that it is a great joy to drive, is in a usable condition and turns heads everywhere it goes. This recently restored example of one of the best looking Alfa Romeos wants for nothing and is ready to enjoy for some summer driving.View 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1971-alfa-romeo-1750-gtv-2' for further details.
