1970 PONTIAC GTO JUDGE RAM AIR IV CONVERTIBLE

Lot # 1412 (Sale Order: 179 of 259)

This 1970 GTO Judge convertible is one of 24 GTOs produced with the Ram Air IV engine and 4-speed manual transmission which it retains to this day. It was built on February 3 1970 at the Baltimore Assembly Plant in Maryland. Upon completion this car was then shipped to Lyons Pontiac-Cadillac Inc. in Barre VT for delivery to the first registered owner. The current owner commissioned this Judge convertible to have a no-expense-spared frame-off restoration which was completed in early 2017. The Judge was completely disassembled and stripped to bare metal the frame was removed and the entire drivetrain was rebuilt. The body of this vehicle was gone over from front to back and the body fit is laser-straight. Once the body was prepared it was given a fresh coat of the correct Pepper Green paint using the best modern DuPont base coat/clear coat paint. The black interior and white convertible top were carefully done as well. The frame was stripped and all chassis components were either replaced or refinished in the correct original factory finishes. All restoration work was professionally done. The original Ram Air IV engine block was honed and new pistons rings and bearings installed. The crank was checked and lightly refinished. The Ram Air cylinder heads were checked and given a valve job along with new valves and valve springs. Everything was reassembled and the entire engine assembly was given a coat of the correct Pontiac engine paint. The interior was completely redone with nothing but correct materials. All instruments and gauges were checked for operation and repaired or replaced if necessary all wire harnesses were replaced with new ones and where possible NOS parts were extensively used. The restoration on this GTO is factory-correct down to the correct T-3 headlamps and original-style Firestone white-lettered tires. Upon completion this car received the top Concours Gold Award status at the 2017 GTOAA National Convention. Additionally in November 2017 it was awarded the Concours Gold at the prestigious Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals in Chicago. 1965 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CUTAWAY COUPE

Lot # 1413 (Sale Order: 180 of 259)

The 1965 Corvette Stingray sitting atop this demonstration stand was not originally purpose-built for this use. It actually began its life as a road-ready early-production example that was finished in Le Mans Blue and had a white interior. When new it was shipped to a specialty company that produced dramatic and attention-grabbing exhibits for commercial and industrial shows. There the car was fully disassembled and rebuilt as this one-of-a-kind display stand for use by General Motors and Chevrolet on the auto show circuit. In order to properly demonstrate all of the hidden mechanical components of the car the body was mounted on elevating rams that would raise the exterior nearly two feet off of the chassis leaving its internal running gear exposed. Careful and well-thought-out incisions were made into all of the major components to further illustrate its build quality and overall operation. The exterior of the 327ci 8-cylinder engine transmission driveshaft and other mechanical parts were finished in bright red to provide clear contrast to the body and the casting of the 4-speed manual gearbox was cut out to showcase the clutch and flywheel. The heads received custom-made transparent valve covers with additional cutout panels revealing the critical inner workings of the fuel-injection unit exhaust intake manifolds and the block itself. The muffler?s exhaust chambers sections of the chassis and the right front disc brake were exposed as well to allow for further inspection of their designs. At the show a series of electric motors would operate all of the cutaway internal components. Rather than function in real time the components were geared to work at just a few revolutions per minute as this would allow for observers to fully digest and understand how to underlying mechanical components functioned. Just like any other engine the turning cam pushed the corresponding intake or exhaust valve while the crankshaft pushed each piston to and from. Brightly plated U-joints which were attached to the posi-traction rear axle drew onlooker?s eyes to where the wheels spun and moved activating the rear suspension and thus demonstrating the Corvette?s road-holding abilities. **SOLD ON BILL OF SALE**

1965 SHELBY GT350R

Lot # 1425 (Sale Order: 192 of 259)

Powered by a Pete Hood 289ci 8-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission this Shelby 5R 538 is one of 33 factory competition models built in 1965 and is documented as the winningest Shelby race car ever. It was purchased new by Roger West and raced until 1967 with great success including an SCCA Southwest Division Championship. He also raced at Sebring and Daytona where he shared seat time with Bobby Allison. In late 1967 he sold the car to Charlie Kemp who was impressed with the cars performance - as was someone very special: Pete Hood the R?s mechanic. They went to work on the suspension weight and horsepower and by March had won the SCCA Regional at Daytona with the famous pass in the grass of Robert Gray in his Corvette. This was soon followed with a victory in the Nationals and followed with the 1968 1969 and 1970 Division Championships. At Riverside Charlie set a top speed record for GT350Rs then at Daytona set the highest known speed for a 289-powered Shelby Mustang or Cobra 184 mph. Through 1971 Charlie would enter 54 races finish 42 and win 32 including a streak of 17 in a row. Charlie sold the car and moved on to Can-Am but in early 2000 he and Pete bought it back and returned it to its full as-raced condition. The suspension was freshened up and it has recently had the engine completely rebuilt by Hood. Due to Charlie?s driving skills 538 retains most of the original sheet metal including the inner fenders with numbers verified by SAAC. This Shelby is well-documented including copies of the MSO and factory order notes of further upgrades by Lew Spencer factory invoice to Treadwell Ford and Kemp?s Bill of Sale. Priceless photographs video race footage and event artifacts have been collected in an aluminum-covered book that go with the car. The opportunity to own a GT350R is rare but there is only one that has had the most wins of all time and this is it.

Lot # 1428 (Sale Order: 197 of 259)

Immediately dominant in American SCCA road-racing from early 1963 Carrol Shelbys Ford-powered AC Ace-derived Cobra was also highly effective on the dragstrip. Known as the Dragonsnake the drag Cobra originated with a small group of young Shelby production employees who developed and raced CSX2019 and then CSX2357 to great effect. In addition to the two factory cars three more were built by Shelby for customers. Numbered CSX2093 this 1963 Shelby 289 Cobra Independently Prepared Dragonsnake reigns as the most successful drag-racing Cobra of them all. Listed in the Shelby American World Registry CSX2093 is an original street Cobra billed to Shelby American on February 18 1963 originally purchased by Hank Hillard of York PA. It was soon traded to Ladd Motors of Lebanon PA at 5000 miles and then purchased by Jim Costillow who campaigned the car in road races and hillclimbs until joining forces with Bruce Larson a noted drag racer and Chevy mechanic famed for his USA-1 Camaro Funny. Detailed in October 1965?s Super Stock magazine Larson invested a great deal in rear-fender flares American Racing wheels drag slicks a chrome roll bar Sun tachometer and expert chassis tweaks. Side curtains and a Berry Plastics hardtop improved the Cobras aerodynamics. Refinished in 31 coats of eye-catching Fuchsia Metallic paint CSX2093 was driven by Bruce Larson and quickly dominated the Northeast for the remainder of 1964 in NHRA A/SP and when fitted with four Weber twin-choke carbs AA/SP. National records fell to Larson and CSX2093 in 1965 at the Pomona CA Winter Nationals; Bristol TN Spring Nationals and U.S. Nationals with Larson and CSX2093 winning all three events. At the World Finals Larson towered his own national record but sacrificed the World Championship by breaking out by over a tenth of a second. The victorious Cobra was purchased by Ed Hedrick of Philadelphia in 1966 who competed with it in NHRA Northeast Division 1 B/Sports winning all national-level races entered including the Spring Nationals and U.S. Nationals. Hedricks run continued through 1967 with CSX2093 winning that years Spring Nationals Winter Nationals U.S. Nationals and World Championship. By 1969 CSX2093 was sold to a new owner and during the mid-1970s it was refinished light green reconfigured for street duty passed through several owners and won the Popular Vote award at the 1977 SAAC-2 and 1985 SAAC10 events. Peter Livanos Greek shipping magnate and eventual co-owner of Aston Martin purchased CSX2093 in 1984 and reacquired it several years later. In 1991 CSX2093 was acquired by Ed Ulyate who had it fully restored and finished in its iconic 1960s livery. In 1994 the Cobra returned to Pennsylvania with David Young who sold it in 1998 to Bruce Larson. Larson kept the car in his personal collection and showed it at AACA events earning Junior and Senior awards at Hershey before selling the car in January 2007. The Cobra passed through two more owners and it was most recently shown at the Concours dElegance of America at St. Johns in 2015 where it won Best Sound. Adding to its significance the Cobra is certified by the AACA as a true and correct original and it has also received an AACA Senior Award plus an SCCA Letter of Authenticity. Accompanying the sale is a set of side curtains two front chrome wire wheels and a document file including period photographs and time slips from its illustrious racing career. Striking in its best-known Costillow/Larson livery and configuration CSX2093 stands as one of the most historically significant Competition Cobras in existence. **TITLED AS A 1963 FORD**
