SPECS: Glossed walnut stock with outlined diamond checkering, ...moreblack textured buttpad with embossed "BROWNING", polished blued receiver & barrel finish, 23" barrel with recessed crown, dovetailed folding leaf rear sight with adjustable insert, serrated ramp with dovetailed brass bead front sight, sling studs, drilled & tapped receiver top for scope mounts and retractable box magazine. CONDITION: This rifle is in nice condition with very light wear, has a sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: The Browning BAR is one of those key products which have defined the Browning mystique throughout the last century. Much of the fame of today's sporting BAR began through the fame of the original military BAR designed by John M. Browning near the end of World War I. This rifle, called the BAR M1918, was commissioned by the U.S. Army in an effort to break the stalemate of trench warfare in the battlefields of France and Belgium. It is considered one of the first, and certainly one of the most effective, of all the automatic centerfire "light machine guns" ever made. Introduced in 1967, the Browning BAR semi-automatic sporting version is certainly a distinct and separate rifle from the military BAR M1918, but its design is the result of Browning's unmatched understanding and expertise with automatic rifles that started with John M. Browning. His grandson, Bruce Browning, was the driving force behind today's BAR. The BAR has evolved slightly for over four decades. Rifles before 1976 are usually called Type 1 rifles. Between 1976 and 1992, they are often called Type 2 rifles, but these rifles are very similar to the original models. 1993 marked the introduction of the Mark II versions which are still in production today. This knife/ bayonet is for use on the M1 Garand Rifle. SPECS: 6.75" Blade, 11.5" overall length, 4" black checkered molded plastic grip and is marked "U.S. M5-1/ J&D TOOL...more CO." under the bayonet cross guard. This bayonet comes with molded fiberglass scabbard with canvas belt loop & wire hanger which is marked: "U.S.M8A1/ V.P. CO" on the scabbard throat, "VP/25" on the back of the scabbard and "MRT" on the back of the belt loop. HISTORY: The M5 Bayonet was adopted by the U.S. military in 1953 to replace other bayonets for the M1 Garand rifle. It uses the M8A1 scabbard. During the Korean War, the M1 bayonet, which mounted to the M1 rifle, was found difficult to remove while wearing heavy gloves. As a result, the M5 bayonet was designed. This was a total redesign based on the M4 bayonet used by the M1 carbine. The M5 bayonet looks nothing like the original M1 bayonet and is the only U.S. bayonet without a barrel mount ring on the cross guard, making it look more like a fighting knife than a bayonet. There were three different patterns made: M5, M5-1, and M5A1. There were at least 11 M5/M5A1 prime contracts, and approximate years of production include: Imperial Knife Co.: M5 195354, M5A1 196768, 197273, 1976; Aerial Cutlery Co.: M5 1954, M5A1 ca. 195759; Columbus Milpar & Manufacturing Co.: M5A1 196269; J & D Tool Co.: M5 195456, M5A1 1957; Utica Cutlery Co.: M5 1954. J & D Tool Co. of Stamford, Connecticut was awarded two M5 bayonet contracts: DA-19-058-ORD-7889 in December 1954 and DA-11-199-ORD-2 in 1956. The 1956 contract began as M5 bayonets but production changed to the M5A1 mid-contract. These bayonets were marked M5-1. J & D Tool Co. was a family business that manufactured tools, dies, letter opener machines, and rifle components for the U.S. Government. The company was formed in 1947, and operated until 1963. At their peak, J & D Tool Co. reportedly employed 90 workers. The initials J & D were once thought to represent Jones and Dickinson. J & D were the initials of two of the company's three founders' siblings: John, Dominick, and Theresa Spera (married name, Pittaro). HISTORY: The Browning SA-22, also known as the Browning 22 Semi-Auto rifle, was the company's first semi-automatic .22 caliber rifle. It is a quick "takedown design" in which the barrel can be quickly removed via a lever under the forearm and a half twist at the barrel collar. John Browning designed it in 1912, and production began in 1914. FN Herstal of Belgium was the first company to produce the SA-22. Production was interrupted by World War I & World War II, and it was officially imported to the United States for sales in 1956. From the beginning, the SA 22 was a high-end rifle. The receiver is forged steel, the relatively massive bolt is beautifully machined, and the stock is nicely finished from walnut. SPECS: Checkered walnut grips, 4.5" barrel, dovetailed u-notch rear si...moreght, fixed blade front sight, rear slide serrations, thumb safety catch/slide hold-open latch, loaded chamber indicator and comes with (2) 10-round steel magazines. CONDITION: This pistol has been nicely re-blued with very light wear, has an excellent sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: The Colt Huntsman was introduced in 1955, and was a sub-model of the Colt Woodsman, but without "target features" and marketed for general sporting use. The classy Colt Woodsman .22 rimfire pistol was one of the most popular guns in America during the first half of the 20th century. In production from 1915 to 1977, it was offered in several different models and series variations. Like most guns that were introduced in the early 1900s, the Colt Woodsman required a lot of hand fitting that would make it quite expensive to produce. Were it not for this, the Woodsman family of pistols would probably still be in production today. Also, like most successful firearms of the early 1900s, it was designed by John M. Browning. The design was one of a significant historic nature because it is considered the first successful rimfire semi-auto pistol. Other gunmakers were plagued with functioning problems due to the rimmed cartridges hanging up in the magazine. Browning's answer was a slanted magazine that positioned each cartridge slightly in front of the one below it preventing the rims from catching on each other. Originally named the Colt Caliber .22 Target Model, Colt marketed it as a pistol for the target shooter. It was indeed popular for use on paper targets, but it also soon became a favorite of small-game hunters, trappers, hikers, fishermen, campers and other outdoorsmen. Hence, the new name Woodsman was chosen, and that name appeared on the receiver starting at about serial number 54,000, in 1927. It was manufactured in three distinct series: Series 1 (1915 - 1941), Series 2 (1947 - 1955), and Series 3 (1955 - 1977). Various changes in features and options were made from one series to the next. On the First Series, the magazine release was at the heel of the grip. On the Second Series, this feature was a round push-button located behind the left side of the trigger guard, the same location as on the Colt 1911/1911A1 pistols. With the Third Woodsman Series, the magazine release was moved back to the heel of the butt. It was also produced in three different models: Target, Sport & Match Target which identified the barrel length & weight. This special order variation of a French Darne is believed to be a "one-owner" from an outstanding full estate collection, and it was a prized possession over many other very high value firearms. HISTORY: The Mauser-Werke Model 3000 rifle was designed by German gun manufacturer Heym and initially released as the Heym SR10 and SR20. It was designed for export and produced from 1968-1974. HISTORY: The Savage Model 1907 pocket pistol was produced from 1907-1920. It was chambered in 32 ACP with 380 ACP offered from 1913 - 1920. This is the date Elbert Searle was awarded one of his firearm patents which were the design basis for all Savage semi-automatic pistols. HISTORY: Kimber was founded as "Kimber of Oregon" in 1979 by Jack Warne and his son, Greg Warne, in the small town of Clackamas, Oregon. The Kimber of Oregon company was formed for the sole purpose of making and selling its "American Made" Model 82 rifle. While the first prototype Model 82 was actually completed by Jack Warne in 1977, it would take until January of 1980 before Kimber of Oregon, Inc. (KoO) was officially established at which time shipments of the Model 82 began. In 1984, the M82 was joined by an all new Kimber front locking bolt-action centerfire rifle, the Model 84. The Model 84s small Mauser-Style centerfire action features a bolt with head locking lugs and a Mauser-Style extractor claw. In 1989, Kimber of Oregon, was sold to Oregon timber baron, Bruce Engel, who founded WTD Industries, Inc. Engel had difficulty running Kimber and soon the company sought bankruptcy protection. In 1990, several former Kimber employees, including Dan Cooper, founded Cooper Firearms of Montana. This Savage Model 1907 pistol was part of a WWI French Military Contract and according to the Cody Firearms Museum Archives it was part of the "12th Shipment" that shippe...mored on April 8, 1916. Although the Model 1907 was designed for civilian use, the French government purchased 27,500 .32 ACP Model 1907s between late 1914 and 1917. These military "contract" pistols are recognized by a specific serial number range (150,000-249,99) and other features such as a lanyard loop - or mounting holes in the grip for a lanyard ring. SPECS: Full coverage polished blued finish, black molded plastic checkered grips with Savage logo embossed on each side, "SAVAGE" marked on the frame above the left grip, "Utica, NY 1905" patent address on the top slide with both ".32" & "7.65" markings, lanyard ring mounting holes, 3.75" barrel, fixed groove rear sight, fixed blade front sight, serrated semi-concealed hammer, checkered thumb safety/ slide stop and comes with (3) 10-round magazines. CONDITION: This pistol is in beautiful re-finished condition with very light wear, has an excellent sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: Savage Arms Company was founded by Arthur Savage, in Utica, New York, in 1894. In the early 1900s Elbert Searle of Philadelphia began working on a series of semi-automatic pistol designs. In 1905, Savage Arms acquired the rights to Searle’s designs. After refining them for production it was designated Savage Model 1907. Production of the Model 1907 began in 1908 and continued until 1920 (s/n range from 1 to 229,800). When introduced, the Model 1907 was among the finest semi-automatic pistols of the era. It was innovative, well designed, precision manufactured and beautifully finished. It was also creatively, cleverly and ubiquitously marketed. It quickly became a sales success. It featured a sophisticated rotating barrel, delayed blow-back design that used the counter-rotational force of the fired bullet spinning through barrel as an element of its mechanical function. It also featured the world’s first double stack magazine. Savage continually ran more than 30 different ad campaigns in a wide variety of popular publications. Both men and women buyers were targeted. Ads focused on personal safety and home defense (both from nasty critters and evil people). Sometimes famous people were featured. Consistent slogans were: “10 shots quick as lightning” and “Aims easy as pointing your finger”. MILITARY USE: Though designed and marketed for civilian use, the French Army purchased 27,500 Model 1907’s. The first shipment consisted of 13-2 variation pistols. After receiving the initial shipment, the French military requested 2 minor revisions. Savage agreed to both changes resulting in the 13-3 military variation. The first French shipment consisted completely of 13-2 variation pistols. (Serial number range 110500 to 113600) The next batch was shipped September 28 of 1915, (serial number range 121000 to 124000) and consisted of both 13-2 and 13-3 variation guns. The remaining batches began shipping October 24, 1915 and ended February 2, 1917, all were 13-3 military variation (s/n ranges 124250 to 130000 and 150000 to 166800.) In total 27,000 pistols were shipped as part of the French Military Contract. Note: During 1916-17 Savage shipped 1200, Model 1907 13-3 military variation pistols to the Portuguese government for use by the Portuguese Expeditionary Corps which fought in France with Allied forces against Germany.
