Unlike original Civil War-era revolvers, the Ruger Old Army is built to withstand heavy loads, provide exceptional accuracy, and deliver superior reliability. The stainless steel construction makes this revolver resistant to corrosion, which is crucial for black powder shooters who deal with caustic black powder residue.

This example appears to have been carried but not fired extensively, if at all. The turn line on the cylinder indicates handling, but there are no burn marks, no fouling, and the bore remains flawless. Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver includes its original factory box and paperwork.

Our Assessment: The Colt Viper is one of the rarer revolvers in Colt’s lineup, with its production run being extremely limited. Originally introduced in 1977 as a lightweight, 4-inch-barreled variant of the Colt Police Positive, the Viper was initially discontinued after just one year. However, Colt briefly reintroduced the model in 1993, making this particular revolver one of the elusive second-generation Vipers.

With its sleek blued finish, smooth walnut grips, and chambering in .38 Special, the Viper offers an ideal balance of size and performance for both collectors and shooters. The limited production numbers make it a highly desirable addition to any Colt collection, and finding one in this condition, appearing only factory fired with its original box and paperwork, is an even greater rarity.

Colt revolvers have long been known for their exceptional craftsmanship and enduring value, and the Viper is no exception. Whether you’re looking for a unique investment piece, a hard-to-find collector’s revolver, or simply a classic Colt to enjoy, this 1993 Colt Viper presents a rare and exciting opportunity.

Our Assessment: The Colt Viper is one of the rarest revolvers in Colt’s lineup. Introduced in 1977 as a lightweight, 4-inch-barreled variant of the Colt Police Positive, the Viper was only produced for one year, making it one of the most elusive Colt production revolvers ever made.

This particular example is even more desirable due to its nickel finish, making it even more rare than the standard blued models. The Viper’s lightweight alloy frame and 4-inch barrel made it a great choice for law enforcement and personal defense, but its extremely short production run resulted in very few being made.

With only one year of production, a stunning nickel finish, and its original box, this 1977 Colt Viper is an exceptional collector’s piece. Finding one in 99% condition with its original factory box is an incredibly rare opportunity. Whether you're a Colt collector, a revolver enthusiast, or an investor looking for one of the most elusive production Colts, this Viper is a must-have.
