The secretaries wore short dresses at the time and when the clock needed to be reset, they had to climb up on a short ladder to reach it, so the astronauts looked forward to it. Richard Gordon's Apollo 15 Backup Lunar EVA Spacesuit Boot X-Ray

Lot # 310 (Sale Order: 322 of 476)      

A vintage 11”x 14” X-ray positive of Apollo 15 astronaut Richard Gordon's left spacesuit EVA boot dated 7-3-71, about 3 weeks before the launch. Gordon was Dave Scott's backup for the mission. Excellent condition. This X-ray was taken as a last minute check to see if there were any foreign objects that could compromise the integrity of the spacesuit during the mission, such as broken off tips of needles that were used in the stitching process. These X-rays were taken and inspected at the time by a man named Jack Weakland, who stored them for NASA during and after the Apollo program. At some time afterwards NASA directed him to dispose of them. These X-rays would make a wonderful display in a light box either autographed or not....more

Apollo 15 Flown To Lunar Surface Signed Cover + More

Lot # 313 (Sale Order: 325 of 476)      

No Buyer's fee on this lot. An infamous Apollo 15 cover flown to the lunar surface and brought back to Earth. It is signed by the crew and is number 152 of 300 and comes with a certification card signed by Irwin's wife. Additionally, a copy of the NASA inventory list for the 300 covers is included. This lunar surface cover is completely certified authentic; first, with a sworn-notarize crew-signed affidavit detailing the moon cover's flight history, and with an accompanying insert flown cover verification card signed by an Irwin family member. Included also, never before made public, is a the aforementioned copy of an official government inventory manifest of all the lunar covers that were impounded by the U.S. federal government for more than 10 years. Also included in this lot is Jim Irwin's interior spacesuit glove (not flown), Irwin personal crew-signed insurance cover (not flown), two of Irwin's personal Shamrock covers (not flown), which have a story of their own, and a litho of Irwin on the moon signed by the crew. All in great condition, and an historical group....more
