After the creation of the U.S. Air Force in 1947, he was appointed special assistant to Lieutenant General Howard A. Craig, the deputy chief of staff for Materiel of the U.S. Air Force.  After several years of excellent service, he was appointed comptroller of Air Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.  He retired from service as a Major General.
