African bronze sword 10th-16th century probably from the lower Niger bronze industry cast in bronze lost-wax technique. The sword is a wide double edged diamond shaped bl...moreade with incised geometric patters to the patinated green surface. The tang has a tapper inward, triangular base to the grip as a crossguard, and with a heavy bronze wire grip to the handle which has an ornate loop design to bronze wire. The top of the handle conical with another looped design to the tang. Note the incised decoration to either side of the raised central ridge of the blade appears to be bands of cross hatch demi-circles in opposition. Size 27 3/4" L, blade 22" L. Provenance: Published author of African Iron Age Art and Antiques

Impressive & monumental antique flintlock wall or swivel gun, circa. 1740-1760. Probably Dutch manufacture. Heavy 45.25"L, 1.5" W smooth-bore octagon-to-round barrel wit...moreh fixed swivel post mount. Note pitting from exposure to the elements and oxidization. Huge flintlock 8 6/8" W which is unmarked and probably of Dutch form. Steel trigger guard of a wide flat form. Steel side plate and barrel band at muzzle. No butt plate or ram rod. The stock is solid with typical wear and scratches from use. Original flintlock configuration and in good mechanical order. Size 65.5" overall.

Barrel with engraving to the transition and inscribed in gold - El Gen.l Bassecourt Al Merito De Tercero - above three fleur de Lis, Spanish Cross, and Two hallmarks all heavily gilt. Lower hallmark of a rampant lion, above a makers mark of the crown over letters "GaI, LAA?, Te, SHI??". Silver horizontal inlaid line to base of barrel and flared front sight in silver. Engraving of scrolling to the tang. Spanish miquelet flintlock lock with a touch mark of the crown over "LA,AAI,ATE,GU??". Fine presentation rifle gifted with a promotion to General Bassecourt or by the General for Merit won in battle. Size 40 1/4" L, barrel 24 1/2" L

General Luis Alejandro Bassecourt y Duprie (1769-1826) was a French born Spanish military commander, Governor of Barcelona, and Captain General. He participated in the Peninsular War and was promoted to captain in 1805 after the Dos de Mayo Uprising. In Andalusia he was promoted to brigadier August 1808. He fought alongside the Duke of Albuquerque and participated in the battles of Mora and Consuegra February 1809, Battle of Medellin March 1809, Battle of Talavera July 1809, and in August at the Battle of Arzobispo. Promoted to lieutenant general 1815, lieutenant colonel of the 2d Regiment of Infantry Guards 1819. Ferdinand VII of Spain appointed Bassecourt governor of Barcelona in 1823 and second-in-command of the Captaincy general of Catalonia 1824. The same year he was appointed Captain General of Valencia and Murcia. In 1825 he was promoted to captain general of Granada and captain general of Aragon.. Iberian Peninsula, Spain, rare Spanish Trabuco military flintlock rifle 18th century. Heavy Iron chiseled lock with massive Frizzen, pan, and hammer in iron. Struck with ...morea hammers mark to the lock plate reading "LA, SRI, ATE, CVI" under the Spanish crown. Fantastic original finish browned barrel with engraved tang. Octagonal to round with transitional chiseled and gilt band. Flared blunderbuss muzzle 1.5" opening. Inlaid with three gold fleur de lis, the Spanish cross, and silver inlaid series of fleur de lis to the base of the barrel. Two makers marks including a lower example of the rampant lion. Above a hallmark reading "AGN, YTV, RRL, OZ" under the Spanish Crown. Trigger guard frame also hallmarked and gilt "AL, BER, DT" under the crown. Walnut stock in original condition. Excellent working condition. Size 48 1/4" L, barrel 33 1/4" L. Condition: Very good untouched original condition, original ramrod.. Provenance: Ex-Private USA Collection
