Large and Beautiful German Bisque Child, 1279, by Simon and Halbig 3000/4000

32" (81 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass sleep eyes, painted dark curly lashes, slightly modeled brush stroked brows with comb-marked detail, rounded nose with accented nostrils, open mouth, shaded and accented lips with impressed dimple in bottom lip, four porcelain teeth, brunette mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, wearing fine antique school dress, undergarments, shoes, stockings, bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: S&H 1279 Dep Germany 14 1/2. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1900. Value Points: wonderful example of the desirable model with superb bisque, sculpting, and painting, original body and body finish.
Rare German Woolen "Tige" by Steiff 800/1200

13" (33 cm.) excluding tail. Of brown wool with painted details, the excelsior-filled bulldog has swivel head, glass eyes, embroidered nose, floppy brown-felt lined ears, white mohair chest and front paws, jointed limbs, long curly tail, and wears a heavy leather studded collar with attached muzzle. Excellent condition, the white mohair dusty. Steiff, Germany, "Tige" was shown in the 1907/1908 Steiff catalog. Value Points: rare early Steiff animal with original leather accessories.

16" (41 cm.) Felt swivel head with center seam, rounded nose, quilted set-in lips, blue glass eyes, stitched ears, mohair wig, jointed shoulders and hips, separated fingers. Condition: very good, some finger wear, Marks: Steiff (button in ear). Comments: Steiff, circa 1913, from their original series of character dolls. Value Points: wearing original Tyrolean style costume of leiderhausen, white shirt, green feathered felt cap and suspenders, stockings, brown felt shoes.
Golden Mohair Bell-hop Bear 300/500

14" (36 cm.) Golden mohair teddy with swivel head, very elongated snout with black embroidered tip and mouth, amber glass eyes, stitched ears, sewn-on red and black felt bellhop uniform with braid trim, jointed elongated arms and legs, oversized golden mohair paws with felt backing. Excellent condition, age and maker uncertain.
German Cloth Character "Schlenkerchen" by Kathe Kruse 900/1400

13" (33 cm.) All cloth doll with firmly pressed and oil-painted facial features and hair, depicting an infant baby, brown eyes with rich black and brown upper eyeliner, feathered brows, closed mouth with defined space and teeth between the lips, stippled detail of brown baby hair, sculpted ears, baby body with loosely-jointed limbs, antique baby costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Kathe Kruse (foot). Comments: Kathe Kruse, circa 1924, the doll was inspired by the model "Foundling" created by Renaissance artist Andrea del Robbia. Value Points: one of the rarest of Kruse early dolls, having superb definition of sculpting and painting.
German All-Bisque Googly Pair by Goebel 400/500

All-bisque googly-eyed figural depicts a black helmeted soldier and a blonde haired girl with blue hair ribbon, gazing into each other's googly eyes, each with bright painted costumes, whimsical facial expressions, Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 9957 (and Goebel logo). Comments: Goebel, circa 1912. Value Points: amusing and delightfully designed googly figures.
American Cloth Doll by Martha Chase in Pristine Condition 500/800

Marks: (Chase Dutch girl logo). Comments: Martha Chase, circa 1910. Value Points: superb original painting is perfectly preserved on the signed model.
An All Original Cloth Character Doll for the French Market in Original Costume 2500/3500

18" (46 cm.) All cloth doll with pressed and painted facial features and hair, short blonde sculpted curls, blue painted upper glancing eyes, red and black upper eye shadow, lightly tinted brows, upturned nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth with defined teeth, blushed cheeks, chin and ear lobes, muslin body with stitch-jointed shoulders, disc-jointed legs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: maker unknown, circa 1915. Value Points: superb artistry of the mystery doll that is in perfectly preserved condition, wearing folklore costume of Alsace including embroidered vest, coiffe with French colors and rosette, and contained in original box bearing the label of Au Nain Bleu, the luxury Parisian doll store from which it was sold.
Rare Italian Cloth Character Baby by Lenci in Original Costume 1800/2500

All cloth doll with felt swivel head, pressed and painted facial features, small brown eyes, dark eye shadow, brown painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with pale lower lip having two accent dots, blonde mohair curly wig, five piece felt body with bent baby limbs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Lenci (silver paper label). Comments: Lenci, the model appeared as "n.1" in the firm's 1930 catalog described simply as "mannequin" and shown in undergarments. Value Points: with wistful faced child, an extremely rare Lenci model, wears her original pink organdy dress and undergarments, knit sweater and booties, and having colorful appliques and trim of felt flowers.

Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Lenci, circa 1930, the doll appeared in the 1930 catalog, listed as model 1500/D. Value Points: rare facial model with wonderfully preserved complexion, wearing fine original costume of organdy gown with applique felt flowers, organdy pantalets, green felt jacket and bonnet with scalloped tiered trim, green felt slippers.

Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (Lenci cloth and paper labels on back of dress, and pencil inscribed "Lucy 40", box also marked to match). Comments: Lenci, circa 1935. Value Points: brilliant colors of felt costume are perfectly preserved, the doll holds her original wooden-handled jump rope, and is stored in her original colorful Lenci box.

All felt doll, swivel head with pressed and painted facial features, large brown side-glancing eyes, grey eye shadow, painted lashes, short feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with heart-shaped upper lip, blonde ringlet curled wig, jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: in the Lenci manner, circa 1935. Value Points: the stylish girl, inspired by Shirley Temple, has classic ringlet curls, wearing original magenta felt coat and cloche with white applique dots, leggings, shoes.

Condition: generally excellent, slight shelf dust. Comments: circa 1940, possibly Lenci. Value Points: delightful caricature figures representing the comic strip figures in well-preserved condition.

Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Lenci (cloth and paper labels, with pencilled number 30). Comments: Lenci, circa 1935. Value Points: wearing original Scottish costume of vividly colored felt and wool, the young Scottish boy is perfectly preserved in his original gift box from the Chicago prestige department store of Marshall Fields.

Composition socket head, green sleep eyes, painted lashes, dark eye shadow, lightly feathered brows, closed mouth with ruby lips, black human hair wig in original coiffure, five piece composition body. Condition: generally excellent, tiny split under each eye, slight eye fading. Marks: Madame Alexander Scarlett O'Hara Doll (hang tag). Comments: Alexander, circa 1939, the doll was issued in conjunction with the release of Gone with the Wind film. Value Points: wearing her original green taffeta gown that exactly matches her gown, undergarments with green ribbons, green shoes, flowers in hair, original hang tag, original unique Alexander box, the doll is preserved in unplayed with condition.
American Composition Patsyette as George and Martha Washington by Effanbee 600/900

Each has composition socket head, painted facial features, side glancing eyes gazing at each other (he with brown eyes, she with blue eyes), closed mouth, white mohair wig in period style, five piece composition body. Condition: generally excellent, slight shelf dust and spot on Martha's costume. Marks: Effanbee Patsyette Doll. Comments: Effanbee, circa 1932, the dolls were issued to celebrate the 200th birthday of George Washington. Value Points: in fine unplayed with condition, the dolls were their vibrant original costumes and have original paper wrist tags, he with additional celluloid pin with profile bust of the 1st President and "George Washington 1732-1932".

Bisque swivel head with flattened solid dome, on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent lines between the lips, pierced ears, blonde lambswool wig, kid body with gusset-jointing, bisque lower arms. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 10 (head). Comments: Sonneberg, circa 1885, the German doll was made to compete with the prosperous French bebe market, this example designed to emulate the early Bru bebe in facial model and body style. Value Points: superb original unplayed with condition, original wig, body in very firm condition, silk dress, undergarments, maroon knit stockings, original black leather shoes in the Bru fashion.

Each is of paper mache with hollow interior accessible when sides of egg are separated, comprising 12" with silk cover and lining and having hand-painted bluebird of happiness design on exterior; 8" with decorative paper cover of floral design; 8" with hand-painted lavender French iris and original Paris label on the interior; and 5" with delicate silk cover depicting children at play including scene of child with doll.
