Lot # 1209 (Sale Order: 78 of 304)

This Revolutionary War-era U.S. Infantry Officer’s Spadroon Sword, dating from approximately 1780-1800, is a fine example of early military standardization. The sword features a distinctive brass hilt with the iconic 5-ball decoration, a beaded knuckle guard, and a heavy-spined blade stamped with a rare "C" marking. German Diplomatic Sword - Napoleonic Period (French Second Empire, ca. 1860)

Lot # 1212 (Sale Order: 81 of 304)

This German Diplomatic Sword is an exceptional piece from the French Second Empire (1852-1870), under Napoleon III, and was likely crafted for a diplomat rather than a military officer. These swords were not used in combat but rather as symbols of status and authority, often presented during formal events or diplomatic missions.

This particular sword features a portapee tassel, which was a decorative yet symbolic addition, often signifying rank or position. The beautiful pearl grip remains in good shape suggests high level construction and care to detail for its user. The brass hilt and tri-blade with blue and gold inlay indicate that it was made with precision and artistry for a high ranking or well off individual of the era. The elaborate gold inlaid designs on the triblade further confirm that it was intended for ceremonial or diplomatic purposes rather than battle.

During this period, France diplomatic and military alliances were shifting rapidly, especially with Germany. By 1870, the Franco-Prussian War would end Napoleon III reign, and Germany would emerge as a dominant power under Prussian leadership. This makes a German-crafted sword from the French Second Empire particularly intriguing;it might have been used during the height of France European influence before its fall. Retaining its elaborate and fine detail and tassel, this sword would be a hallmark piece for collectors or Napoleonic era weaponry.

British Napoleonic Era Cavalry Sword with Damascus Blade

Lot # 1212b (Sale Order: 82 of 304)

This British Cavalry Sword with a Damascus Blade is from the Napoleonic era (1799-1815), a period dominated by Britain wars against Napoleon Bonaparte. British cavalry swords from this time were known for their curved blades, designed for slashing attacks during charges.

Often fetching a premium in todays market, as period crafted Damascus retains its appeal through the ages.
