1918 WWI U.S. Eddystone, M1917 Enfield, 30-06 Sprg., Bolt-Action, SN - 500012

Lot # 126

The M1917 Enfield, or "American Enfield", is an American modification and production of the British Pattern 1914 Enfield (P14) rifle (listed in British Service as Rifle N...moreo. 3), which was developed and manufactured during the period 1917–1918. When the British Empire entered World War I, it had an urgent need for rifles, and contracts were placed with companies in the United States. In the case of the P14 rifle, Winchester and Remington were selected. When the U.S. entered the war, it had a similar extreme need for rifles. Rather than re-tool completely, the factories, under the close supervision of the US Army Ordnance Department, altered the P14 design for the 30-06 caliber. Winchester produced the rifle at their New Haven, Connecticut, plant and Remington at their main facility at Ilion, New York, and at another plant in Eddystone, Pennsylvania. Numerically, it was the main rifle used by the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe during World War I. This new rifle was formally adopted as the new standard U.S. Service rifle and named the Model of 1917. It was manufactured by: Eddystone (1,181,908 rifles), Remington (545,541 rifles) and Winchester (465,980 rifles). Design changes were few; the stripper clip feed, internal box magazine, bolt face, chamber and rifling dimensions were altered to suit the .30-06 Springfield cartridge and the US pattern 5-round stripper clips. The stock was slightly redesigned, lightening it somewhat, and the volley fire sights on the left side of the weapon were deleted. The markings were changed to reflect the model and caliber change. The M1917 was used alongside the M1903 Springfield, and quickly surpassed the Springfield design in numbers produced and units issued. By November 11, 1918, about 75% of the AEF in France were armed with M1917s. An M1917 Enfield rifle was used by Sergeant Alvin C. York on October 8, 1918, during the event for which he was famously awarded the Medal of Honor. According to the U.S. Military Dates Of Manufacture Resource Service, this Eddystone M1917 was produced in 1918 (SN - 500012). Markings include: Barrel - "E" (Eddystone)/ the U.S. Flaming Bomb ordnance stamp/ "4-18"; Top Receiver - "U.S. MODEL OF 1917 EDDYSTONE"; Left Side Of Receiver - Flaming Bomb acceptance stamp; Top Of The Receiver - Eagle Head acceptance stamp; Bolt Handle - "W" & Flaming Bomb; along with several other period correct U.S. acceptance stamps. This U.S. M1917 features a 26" barrel, rear receiver folding ladder aperture sight with ears, wing-protected front post sight "075", metal buttplate with cleaning kit compartment, military stock with grooved forearm, sling rings and bayonet lug. This gun is in good condition with light battle wear, has an excellent sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order... This gun is from the Outstanding Don Crawford 70+ years Collector/ Investment Grade Collection.

Winchester, Model 70 Classic Featherweight, 7mm-08 Rem., Bolt-Action, SN - G39879

Lot # 127

With the traditional cut checkering pattern of the Classic Featherweight, this flagship of the Model 70 line offers both beauty and performance. While the looks of the ne...morew Featherweight quickly set it apart from the competition, don’t overlook its extraordinary accuracy. This Classic Featherweight is slightly slimmer, trimmer, and lighter in weight than the Sporter Model to enhance fast handling as well as ease of carry. It uses the same controlled-round, claw-extractor as the "pre-'64" style which grabs hold of the cartridge's rim shortly after it leaves the magazine and guides it to the chamber, regardless of the angle the rifle is being held, and prevents jams caused by double feeding. The large claw, Mauser-type extractor also provides maximum surface contact on the cartridge's rim for sure extraction of the spent casing; and a solid blade-type ejector reliably clears empty cases from the action. A 3-position safety allows the shooter to load or unload the this rifle with the safety engaged in the mid position. The bolt is locked down with the safety fully to the rear, where it is extremely unlikely to accidentally get knocked to the fire position when carrying the rifle in rugged terrain. Winchester's M.O.A. Trigger System has zero trigger "creep", and no "overtravel" after the firing pin has been released. The excellent trigger, combined with a 22" hammer-forged, free-floated barrel, and forged steel receiver with a bedded integral recoil lug contributes to the extreme accuracy. The satin-finished, walnut stock features cut checkering, a Schnabel fore-end, and a Pachmayr recoil pad. Other features include polished bluing, recessed muzzle crown, jeweled bolt and sling studs. The Winchester Model 70 Classic Featherweight Bolt-Action Rifle is an outstanding choice for avid hunters who are looking for a quick-handling rifle that delivers exceptional accuracy with modern, long-range cartridges. This gun appears to be new/ unfired with no wear and a perfect bore, and appears to be in good working order.

Few arms have served the U.S. military as long or as well as the famed "U.S. Rifle, Caliber .30, Model 1903." For generations of American servicemen and arms enthusiasts,...more the M1903 has gained an enviable reputation as one of the best bolt-action military rifles of all time. Lot # 129

The original version of the popular Savage Model 110 rifle was first introduced in 1958, and remained in production until 2003 when it was replaced by the round-back vers...moreion with a AccuTrigger. 1969 Parker-Hale, Model 1200 Super Varmint, 25-06 Rem., Bolt-Action, SN - P-58726

Lot # 131

Parker-Hale Ltd. was a British firearms, air rifle and firearms accessory manufacturer located in the Gun Quarter of the city of Birmingham, England. It was founded by Al...morefred Gray Parker and Arthur Hale. Alfred Gray Parker founded a rifle manufacturing company in 1890. In 1910, he invited his nephew, Alfred Thomas Corbyn Hale, to become a partner in the limited liability company. By 1914, the company's small manufacturing plant was well established and received several WWI allied contracts. With the outbreak of the Second World War, they supplied Pattern 1914 Enfield rifles, and in 1940, the "Parker-Hale Arms Company" was founded. A wide range of additional war contract work followed, principally with the manufacture of .30-06 Springfield and .303 British drill cartridges in large quantities. After the close of hostilities, business at Parker-Hale remained relatively stable throughout the 1960s and into the 1980s with sales of target and sporting rifles, handguns, shotguns and ammunition sitting comfortably alongside the company's comprehensive range of rifle scopes, knives, gun care accessories and cleaning kits. Lacking the investment necessary to enable the company to compete effectively in newly emerging markets, Parker-Hale was eventually sold to the Midlands engineering group, Modular Industries Ltd. In 1992, it was purchased by Navy Arms and spun off as Gibbs Rifle Company, Inc. This Parker-Hale Model 1200 Super Varmint was imported to the U.S. by Jana (Denver, CO.) in 1969 which is identified by the "P" prefix on the serial number (letter date codes started in 1953 with "A"). Features include a basket weave checkered Monte Carlo stock with raised cheek & gloss finish, mahogany forearm tip & grip cap with white spacers, black Pachmayr White Line buttpad with black/ white spacers, gold trigger, high luster polished bluing, 24" heavy varmint barrel with recessed crown muzzle, stainless Mauser-98 style action, hinged floorplate with trigger guard release button, sling rings and sells complete with BSA Huntsman 6-24x40 scope. This gun is in beautiful condition with very light wear, has a sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order.

1944 WWII U.S. Smith-Corona, M1903-A3, 30-06 Sprg., Bolt-Action, SN - 4871837

Lot # 136

Few arms have served the U.S. military as long or as well as the famed "U.S. Rifle, Caliber .30, Model 1903." For generations of American servicemen and arms enthusiasts,...more the M1903 has gained an enviable reputation as one of the best bolt-action military rifles of all time. The M1903 was manufactured by Springfield Armory at varying levels of production from 1903 until the late 1930s, and at Rock Island Arsenal from 1903 until 1913, and again from 1917 until 1919. Even though large numbers of M1917 "American Enfield's" were manufactured and issued during World War I to supplement the supply of M1903s, the "Springfield 1903" remained a standard issue rifle throughout WWII alongside the M1 Garand. World War II saw new production of the Springfield M1903 at private manufacturers such as the Remington Arms and Smith-Corona Typewriter companies. As the already worn tooling began to wear beyond use, Remington began seeking Army approval for a continuously increasing number of changes and simplifications to both speed up manufacture and improve performance. This resulted in the replacement of the M1903, in favor of the M1903-A3, in 1942. The most noticeable visual difference in the M1903-A3 was the replacement of the barrel-mounted rear sight with a smaller, simpler aperture rear sight mounted on the rear of the receiver which was designed by Remington; it was primarily adopted in order to speed familiarization by soldiers already trained on the M1 Garand which had a similar sighting system. According to the U.S. Military Dates Of Manufacture Resource, this U.S. Smith-Corona M1903-A3 was produced in 1944 (SN -4871837). Markings include: Barrel - "RA"/ Flaming Bomb/ "1-43", Right Side Of Stock - "RIA/FK" & "OC" & "U.S.", Bayonet Lug Band - "R", Front Underside Of Barrel "P", Underside Of Stock At Grip - circle "P", Front Sling Ring - "R". Armi Sport, "McNelly Sharps" Texas Ranger Carbine, 45-70 Sprg., Falling Block, SN - SH5928

Lot # 137

Sharps rifles are a series of large-bore, single-shot, falling-block, breech-loading rifles, beginning with a design by Christian Sharps in 1848 and have became icons of ...morethe American Old West with their appearances in many western-genre films and books. At the end of the U.S. Civil War, the War Department had approximately 50,000 Sharps percussion models on hand. From 1868-69, approximately 32,184 percussion models, primarily carbines, were converted to breech loaders and sold to Frontiersmen & buffalo hunters. Following Reconstruction, the Texas Legislature in 1875 assigned a small group of Texas Rangers under the command of Captain Leander McNelly, an experienced guerilla fighter, to "clean up the Texas Strip." McNelly purchased 36 Sharps M1859 Carbine Conversions chambered for 45-70 and went to work. Each of the 36 original carbines were marked on the barrel by the Rangers with a "T * S" and numbered as issued. This recreation of the "McNelly Sharps" is sensational. It's a handsome-looking carbine with attention to historical detail, and the overall workmanship is impeccable. Features include a case colored receiver & furniture, 22" blued steel barrel, smooth American black walnut (as was used on the original Texas Ranger carbines) with an oiled finish, adjustable folding aperture rear sight, front blade sight and saddle ring. This gun is in same-as-new condition with no wear, has an excellent sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order... As the already worn tooling began to wear beyond use, Remington began seeking Army approval for a continuously increasing number of changes and simplifications to both speed up manufacture and improve performance. This resulted in the replacement of the M1903 in favor of the M1903-A3 in 1942. According to the Remington Society of America Resource Database, this U.S. Remington M1903-A3 was produced in 1943 (SN -4189765). Marking include: Barrel - "RA"/ Flaming Bomb/ "12-43", Right Side Of Stock - "OG/FK", Bayonet Lug Band - "R", Front Underside Of Barrel "P", Underside Of Stock At Grip - circle "P". Features include a 24" barrel, ramped adjustable aperture rear battle sight, banded front blade sight, military stock, sling rings, metal buttplate with cleaning kit compartment, bayonet lug and period correct green canvas sling. This gun is in nice condition with light wear, has an excellent sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order.

1996 Browning, M1885 BPCR, 40-65 Cal., Falling-Block (NIB), SN - 07367NT2B7

Lot # 139

John Browning designed the classic falling-block action rifle in 1875. A falling block action uses a steel breech block to open and seal the breech for loading and firing...more; actuating the lever opens pulls down the falling block which moves between two corresponding vertical grooves in the receiver. This type of action results in a very strong chamber. Browning sold his design to Winchester in 1883. Winchester started producing it in 1885, hence the name. In 1885 competitive target shooting in America had the stature of professional sports today. Huge matches were held at places like Creedmoor, New York, where spectators would number in the thousands. The Winchester Model 1885 was uniquely suited to the long-range accuracy shooting of the day. It was the first and perhaps one of the greatest of all the John Moses Browning designs. Browning started making these new replicas with the High Wall one hundred years later in 1985. The Low Wall came along ten years after that in 1995, and the M1885 BPCR (Black Powder Cartridge Rifle) debuted in 1996. This Browning M1885 BPCR was made in 1996 ("NT" date code) and features an outline checkered dark walnut Monte Carlo stock with raised cheek/ oiled finish & Schnabel forearm tip, casehardened receiver, 30" heavy octagon/ round barrel with recessed crown muzzle, polished stainless block, metal case colored grip cap, checkered case colored metal buttplate, Soule-pattern adjustable folding tang sight (comes with 3 eyecups) and front globe sight with level. This gun comes in original box with original 1996 purchase receipt. This gun is in same-as-new condition with a perfect bore (possibly unfired) and appears to be in good working order... This gun is from the Outstanding Don Crawford 70+ years Collector/ Investment Grade Collection.

1960 Winchester, (Pre-64) Model 52C Sporter, 22 LR, Bolt-Action, SN - 99042C

Lot # 143

The Winchester Model 52 was a bolt-action .22-caliber target rifle introduced in 1920. For many years it was the premier smallbore match rifle in the United States, if no...moret the world. Known as the "King of the .22s," the Model 52 has been called by Field & Stream one of "the 50 best guns ever made" and by Winchester historian, Herbert Houze, "perfection in design." The costly-to-produce Model 52 was finally discontinued when US Repeating Arms took over the manufacture of Winchester rifles from Olin Corporation in 1980. During the Model 52's development, alphabetic SN suffixes A, B, C and D were applied specifically to changes to the receiver forging itself, originally as an aid to factory workers: The Model "52C" was developed in 1951 with a two-lever Micro-Motion trigger. The new trigger was adjustable for pull-weight between 2.5 and 6 lbs. and travel between .030 and an almost imperceptible .003 inches. The Micro-Motion trigger was an instant success, and considered the new state of the art in match rifle trigger locks. Around 1931 Major John W. Hessian, a friend of new Winchester president John M. Olin, had a private gunsmith remount his Model 52 in a custom lightweight "sporting" stock. Olin was so impressed that he ordered the development of a 52 Sporter as a production model which made its debut in 1934. The Sporting Model had a lightweight 24" barrel and an elegant gloss-finished walnut stock with a slender, tapering capped forearm, pronounced pistol grip and fancy checkering. The action was identical with contemporary target models, except that the receiver top was left round rather than milled flat. The Sporter was in all respects a deluxe rifle. While Winchester already had a reputation as the Cadillac of American arms manufacturers, the 52 Sporter was produced with a degree of fit and finish appropriate to a custom gunsmith's shop. Esquire magazine called it "a diamond in a field of chipped glass -- the rifle for the connoisseur." Field & Stream named the 52 Sporter one of the "50 Best Guns Ever Made," calling it "unrivalled in beauty and accuracy." The Sporter represented only a small percentage of Model 52s produced between 1934 and its discontinuation in 1960: it is today the most collectible of all 52 variants. According to Winchester Arms Collector Organization, this Model 52C Sporter was made in 1960. Features include an outline checkered Monte Carlo stock with black forearm tip, black grip cap with silver initial plate marked "J.B.", Redfield scope base, ramped dovetail front sight with brass bead, magazine release button on the right side of the stock, black checkered buttpad, sling rings, brown leather sling and 5-round detachable box magazine. This gun is in nice condition with very light wear, has an excellent sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order.
