Item Details
For your consideration is this George Washington sculpture constructed of spelter metal circa 1900-1910s. This sculpture is constructed of spelter, a zinc-lead alloy that ages to look like bronze. It's softer and has a lower melting point than bronze. Spelter can also refer to a copper-zinc alloy used for brazing, or to pure zinc. The sculpture shows George Washington sitting on his horse, holding his hat as he points with his other hand out into the distance. The horse is slightly rearing up as he wears a saddle and harness. The sculpture shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years. Slight chips on the saddle. It shows a nice patina. The sculpture measures 9 3/4" L x 4 1/2" W x 9 1/2" H and weighs 3 pounds and 8 ounces.
