Number 5 of only 5 combining decades of Turinese automotive flair with state-of-the-art Supercar design.

  • The fifth and final Zerouno Coupe built and offered from single ownership

  • Presented in virtually as-new condition and never road registered

  • Powered by a 610bhp, 5.2-litre, naturally-aspirated V-10 engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with drive to all four wheels

  • Soft-sheen stealth matte paintwork unique to this car

  • Perhaps the most aerodynamically advanced road car ever

  • A contemporary coachbuilt supercar combining Italian passion with quality engineering

Founded by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro in 1968, Italdesign has produced some of the most interesting automotive designs over the last 50 years. A true contemporary coachbuilder, they have built a reputation for combining innovative technical solutions with a gorgeous design and over the years, has carried out prototyping and pre-series assembly for some of the world’s major manufacturers. With such diverse abilities and vast experience in the sector, it was inevitable that the company would eventually try its hand at building its own bespoke supercar.

Unveiled to the world during the 87th Geneva International Motor Show in 2017, the Zerouno (Zero One) was the first creation by the new brand Italdesign Automobili Speciali. Intended for collectors and visionary enthusiasts, only five were built combining racing car features and performance alongside type-approval for use on normal roads. Developed around a modular chassis in carbon fibre and aluminium, Itadesign's new baby was very impressive.

The Zerouno’s bodywork was developed at Italdesign’s advanced Virtual Reality Centre, which enabled the firm to conduct virtual aero testing prior to building the various components in real life. They explain that the upper portion of the car is modelled after the “Italian Gran Turismo tradition,” whilst the lower half is shaped by the demands of aerodynamics. Regardless, it’s more than obvious that the pointed front end was inspired by single-seat race cars (Formula 1 in particular).

Front end lift from that central intake was eliminated thanks to something Italdesign is calling the “Y Duct,” whereby air is routed through the intake and split through a Y-shaped divider under the skin, eventually making its way out through vents placed just ahead of the windshield, generating significant downforce as a result. There are also heat extractors that cool the brakes via vents in the wings, plus further aerofoils at the front end that create even more downforce. At the rear, there are further downforce generators, with a new, large wing, plus a diffuser element. Cooling is enhanced thanks to new rear fins and wing vents.

Powered by a 5.2-litre, naturally-aspirated V-10 engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the engine produces 610 bhp and 560 Nm of torque at 6,500rpm, with drive to all four wheels. The company quotes a 0–100 kph time of just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 330 kph.

Each of the five made-to-order examples was finished to suit the owner’s requirements: from the choice of materials to the development of a bespoke paint colour code, everything could be tailored to an individual’s wishes. The first owner of this particular car was certainly no stranger to bespoke supercars as he already owned a sizeable private collection regularly showcasing many of the finest supercars and race cars. He was lucky enough to purchase the fifth and final example of the Zerouno and specified a number of unique options.

Finished in soft sheen Black Matte with Red, Green and White stripes running the full length, the most insanely gorgeous wheels you have ever seen, and enough aerodynamic aids to make a Mercedes F1 feel short-changed, this is a very desirable, superbly built supercar and an absolute triumph for Italdesign.

Having only accumulated testing and delivery mileage, this example has never been registered for road use and is presented here today in virtually ‘as-new’ condition. Its new owner will surely enjoy a fantastic opportunity to own a unique example of a contemporary coachbuilt supercar. This Zerouno would be an exciting addition to any collection of modern supercars as it is a unique blend of distinctive styling and engineering thanks to decades of Turinese automotive knowledge.
