Item Details
Colt, Model 1900 Automatic Pistol Sight Safety, .38 Colt auto, s/n 765, pistol, brl length 6", very good condition, semi auto, Rare example of a three digit second year production Colt sight safety pistol. One of only 3,500 produced being an extremely significant pistol as it is Colt's first venture into a commercial automatic handgun developed with the assistance of John Browning. The left side of the slide has a two line patent and address marking which reads "BROWNING'S PATENT" "COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG. CO./PAT'D APRIL 20, 1897 HARTFORD. CONN. U.S.A." along with the serial number under the address on the frame. There is also a rampant Colt logo rear side of the slide serrations. The right side of the slide is marked "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" in two lines. The bottom of the 7 round detachable box magazine is marked "PAT'D SEPT. 9.1884". The serrated sight safety and hammer with pointed checkered spur are both case hardened with a majority of the colors present on the left side of the hammer and traces on other areas. A majority of the Colt fire bluing is present on the trigger with very minor losses on edges and some very light freckling. Almost all of the original Colt high polish blue finish is present with losses on the front and back of the grip frame as well as some edges with spotted light freckling in varying degrees from what appears to be improper storage. There are a few very light scratches front left side of slide and rear of frame left side behind the smooth walnut grip panel. Both panels show some minor light handling with a bore that has shine and nice rifling. Very nice example of an early production sight safety.

The auctioneer's decision is final. If there is a tie bid between the floor and the internet the floor bid shall take precedence and the live internet bidder shall have the option to raise his bid to the next increment.
INTERNET BIDDERS take note: WE do not, at any time, either before, during or after bidding, know the max bid amount on any prebids. The max bid amounts ARE NOT disclosed to us by Proxibid. Therefore it is possible, depending on the opening bid on the auction floor and the bidding that occurs between the floor and the internet that we may be accepting a floor bid for your max bid amount before your max bid total is relayed to us from Proxibid and you would lose the bid. We feel that this is fairer to everyone than us knowing what you plan to bid. The only way sure way to prevent losing the bid this way is for you the internet bidder to contact us prior to the start of the auction by email (info@zettauction.com) and instruct us to start the bidding on your item at a specific price. If you have any questions please contact us prior to the start of the auction.
